People speculate about how Josh joining RHCP affected their friendship, but I wonder if rather than jealousy about RHCP, maybe John felt let down that Josh wasn't going to be working with him on his solo stuff; like Josh chose RHCP over him. I know that I'm guessing, but it seems like they were really close.

What Josh did to John is unforgivable. I can't stand him.

The Doctor Who theme tune was realised by Delia Derbyshire in 1963 at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop; the composer is Ron Grainer. It’s Delia’s name that Mike Watts tries to recall in this interview at 02:49.

Strange, weird sounds in this Jam, but somehow inspiring. It’s hard to make the transition though, from more conventional music.

The bass player he was talking about was Robert Hayes. He was killed along with a few other members of his band, The Jody Grind, when they were struck head-on by a drunk driver after a gig in Alabama in 1992 shortly before John quit RHCP.

When did you write your first stuff? Oh, right away! :D Love this interview. When he mentioned Flea, Omar and Klinghoffer as those people he had a musical connection with, my first thought was: hey, why don't you make music together every now and then, make an album …. It's allowed to dream, isn't it?

Mike Watt is a legend for sure. If you listen to Henry Rollins Get in the van,he talks about getting annoyed by Watt. He also mentions his incredible knowledge about music turning Henry on to many free jazz artists. James Blood Ulmer. That dude rules. Hell, Blood sugar sex magic is dedicated to Mike Watt. He is paramount to bringing the funk and jazz influence to punk rock. I'm talking to a wall. You should know who Watt is but new kids may not know.

attitude at the time* but he really has that froggy heroin speech here. and i know he talks differently due to his teeth replacement and facial surgery he had in 98. this is really convincing... i give him the benefit of the doubt though! in sure hes as healthy as ever

The bassist seems like they have a lot of trouble staying with an idea, but when they have moments of clarity, they nail it. It's a shame they always panic and lose it again... THE CYCLE!
