People speculate about how Josh joining RHCP affected their friendship, but I wonder if rather than jealousy about RHCP, maybe John felt let down that Josh wasn't going to be working with him on his solo stuff; like Josh chose RHCP over him. I know that I'm guessing, but it seems like they were really close.
Eh... I wouldn't say that smoking cigarrettes for him is ANYTHING close to where he was 20 years ago. Going back to nicotine doesn't necessarily mean he is going down a dark path.
Mike Watt is a legend for sure. If you listen to Henry Rollins Get in the van,he talks about getting annoyed by Watt. He also mentions his incredible knowledge about music turning Henry on to many free jazz artists. James Blood Ulmer. That dude rules. Hell, Blood sugar sex magic is dedicated to Mike Watt. He is paramount to bringing the funk and jazz influence to punk rock. I'm talking to a wall. You should know who Watt is but new kids may not know.
i know hes been clean since '98 aside from cigs and occasional drinks. but as a former junkie it really sounds like hes got dope flowing through him. it may just be his arttitide

attitude at the time* but he really has that froggy heroin speech here. and i know he talks differently due to his teeth replacement and facial surgery he had in 98. this is really convincing... i give him the benefit of the doubt though! in sure hes as healthy as ever
