Welcome to Noveltea Corner, where I talk a lot about books of all different genres. My name is Stef, I am Australian, and I read and review books weekly in a variety of genres (see below) and readership age brackets. Every so often I love to throw in a little non-bookish content, from vlogs, videos about my plants and the occasional crafty project.
Genres (in order of - current - preference, but not limited to): -Romance -Paranormal Romance/Speculative Romance -Urban Fantasy -Science-Fiction
I also have a strong passion for children's literature, especially picturebooks, which I use daily in my profession.
If you are an author, or an Australian publishing house representative, and would like to reach out, you're welcome to use the contact details below. Please note that the above genres (and picturebooks) are my current preferred books to read, review and promote, but other titles may be given consideration time permitting.
I can't say I hate cleaning but I really, really dislike it. I wi live in a mess until someone comes over. Part of the problem is I have too much stuff as a small business owner and a journaling hobby. The other part is being allergic to both dust and many cleaning supplies. But anyway, like Heather's videos, I used this as motivation this morning. So thanks for sharing Stef. 🧽
lol. I was just saying this the other day while cleaning! I go to do something and think oh I should do this first, so go to do that and find something else and end up accomplishing nothing! Looks like you did good 😅
I do most of the cleaning Sunday mornings before anyone wakes up. I listen to a book and get through my weekly/periodic checklists in time for 9am waffles made by my partner. The waffles lure out any late sleepers and I raid the kid's rooms for dirty laundry by 10am. Basically everything is done by noon on Sunday. Minimalism and clear schedules may be boring, but if you add bribery like audio books, waffles and outings it's surprisingly ok. We have a 7pm reset every evening too, where we make sure the house is tidy and we're set for tomorrow. Everyone pitches in if screen time is after tidy up time.
I have a huge conundrum that I need you to weigh in on. Do I: 1) continue reading the book I started yesterday and am really enjoying 30% through (Birding with Benefits)? 2) drop everything to start reading Primal Mirror? I’m leaning toward 2, but putting down a book I’m in the middle of reading just isn’t something I do…gah!
I'm someone who has to finish a book before starting a new one, so I'd say go with 1 because then your whole attention is on Primal Mirror? But ultimately, go with what brings you joy (and if it means starting it right this second, then go for it!). I'm waiting for the physical book to release here. Soooon!
Unfortunately, I love cleaning for about 2% of the amount of cleaning I actually need to do. 😅 That 5ish times a year when my motivation and mood line up perfectly and I feel great power cleaning? Oooooh I’m unstoppable. 😂
My go to hockey romance authors are Elle Kennedy (I recently finished the second book in her Campus Diaries), Helena Hunting (I love the All In series. I've just finished If you want me and I really enjoyed it. I also love her Truths, Lies and Hearts series written as H. Hunting) and Sarina Bowen. I'll be checking out some of your recommendations 🙂
For angel paranormal books, have you tried Mel Harding-Shaw's Soul Court Ascension series? The first is "City of Souls". I've only read that one so far, but I'm looking forward to the rest. She also has a lovely novella called "Against the Grain", although I might be biased about that one as it is set in the suburb of Wellington where I was living at the time. Great answers to some excellent questions. I might make it to Melbourne next year, and if I do, I hope you won't mind me asking about where those bookshops are.
💬💬💬 ETA: I just woke up this morning and was mortified that I left a very long and very personal comment. So deleting. I just wanted to say I really enjoyed the video and related to quite a bit of stuff. I also love hearing about the books that sparked other people's love of reading and love of certain genres.
Thanks for answering my questions! What you said at the end of the video re: the ace/demi spectrum especially in making friends made so much sense to me. I usually consider myself as Ace, but I've been wondering for a while if I might lean towards the Demi spectrum as well & thinking about my friendships through that lens is kind of making things click lol
