Diana..who isTiziana Fato ? They have a video online about the situation in Europe, a wedding. Maybe we should consider this if I just knew we could get my money. How do they know. It’s about them and us. Those people involved told me once you and your family could join. Do they have protection in case of nuclear war? I need you to read something by Whitney Webb. It’s important for what is going on you may be unaware of but I believe your troublemaker knows. It’s by crowdfunding journalist called Big Picture.watch. It’s about creating a major apocalypse in order to replace the Brenton Woods monetary system set up after the end of WW2 in order to have complete control over everyone. You may want to talk to her. She is aware of a lot that most people don’t. I believe it could be eminent.
I can appreciate everyone doing their own version of this song but there will NEVER be anyone quite like the beautiful, soulful Miss Billie Holiday 🙏🕊️🙌💜
Five years later, Norah did a really good rendition that overshadows this one. I do like the subtle double-time feels and rubato throughout. Quite a contrast from my preferred vocalist backed by big band versions, but it works.
One of my buddies played this for me in 1976ish… we were both music majors at a VERY wonderful enlightened small college. I remember THE first time I heard this … BY FAR…one of ..THE….the…THE….. best examples of the voice and the interpretation taking the song to an unexpected place… that is unimpeachable…. Undictable ….. can never be challenged or duplicated……. So….. god damn beautiful. When I tell people about this version … I describe …. The singer is laying in a filthy gutter… half a dozen knife wounds… he is bleeding out…. And you can smell the puke and the piss on him and all around him….. he has been accused of being …vaudeville …. All I hear is one of the most beautiful… nothing held back performance….. This performance …Absolutely will always be in my top ten…. And if something threatens that… then I’ll call it my top eleven…and feel that I’m gifted.
Great piano player, but one of the worst singing voices in recording history. ZERO vocal chops, I mean it. No amount of post production, reverb, or any other kind of electronic "wizardry" will ever disguise her thin, raspy, unsupported vocal delivery. Fabulous pianist, yes. Professional singer, NO.
@@TheSearchers1000 I'll be happy to!!! But I'd have to create an entirely new channel to do this using a fake username, as I don't want trolls and musical miscreants like yourself trying to tell me what constitutes a legitimate singing voice, which this woman DOES NOT HAVE, AND NEVER DID. If you want to hear a great female vocalist, listen to Ella Fitzgerald or Sarah Vaughn, not this obvious wannabee. As I said, Krall is a top notch piano player who has the best musicians in the world backing up her scratchy, non-existent vocals, using her "breathy" technique to disguise the fact that she has absolutely no ability to sing correctly or with anything even approaching proper technique. If you think that Diana Krall would actually have a singing career if she didn't play piano so well, you're even less intelligent than I think you are. P.S. I've changed my mind. I'm going to record this same song myself and I'll just use the same username so that anyone reading this can critique my voice. Although I'm 75-years old, I'll stack my voice against this young woman's anytime, then simply let the public be the judge. I've never done anything like this before, but as soon as I can create a video I will paste the link to it into this same post. I'm visiting my granddaughter in New Jersey this week, but should have something up for you to compare then, alerting you the moment it's up.
These lyrics are from the song "Feeding Off The Love Of The Land" by Stevie Wonder, and they express a message about the need to protect the environment and to live in harmony with nature. Here is a breakdown of the lyrics: "Seems the wisdom of man hasn't got much wiser Than the very beginning of our time Agree or war has been our way of compromising 'Let live and love' has become our biggest lie" These lines suggest that humans have not made much progress in terms of wisdom and understanding since the beginning of time. The idea of "let live and love" as a way of compromising has become a lie because humans continue to engage in war and conflict. "Seems to me that fools are even more foolish Thinking of themselves and nobody else But then if asked for poor will riches be replenished They say bootstraps must be pulled up by themselves" These lines suggest that people who think only of themselves are even more foolish than before. The lyrics question the idea that the poor should simply pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, suggesting that this is an unrealistic expectation. "Feeding off the love of the land Leaving much to be desired Living off the love of the Lord While the price for life is higher Isn't love to be admired? Has the good in man expired? Stealing all the love and the beauty from the land" These lines suggest that humans are taking more from the earth than they are giving back, and that the price of life is becoming higher. The lyrics question whether love is still valued by society and whether the good in people has disappeared. "I awake each morning to the birds a-singing Singing out to God to come and save his own But when throughout the world the cry of love is ringing Is then when He'll stop to hear our song Did you know that when you feel the earth a-shaking It's only Mother Nature with a crying heart You see, we have taken from her for so many ages Will there be a time when taking stops and giving starts?" These lines suggest that nature is also crying out for love and compassion, and that humans need to stop taking from the earth and start giving back. The lyrics suggest that if humans start to cry out for love, then God will listen. The overall message of the song is that humans need to live in harmony with nature and protect the environment. The lyrics suggest that humans are taking too much from the earth and not giving back, and that this needs to change. The song also touches on themes of love, compassion, and empathy, suggesting that these qualities are essential for building a better world.
Surely, a pretty song & lyrics to close a particularly good movie about all these things you analysed so careful. Though, as the movie, a sad lyric about situations that we hardly must live each of our days. I wish that mankind may learn better and quicker from the precious that comes through arts!
How many folks do you think saw this title and artist and said, "You've got to be kidding!" I did. His voice, like Leonard Cohen's (but even more so) is an acquired taste. Some devoted and loyal fans get the "appeal." You either love him, or you don't. Most folks won't listen beyond one verse if they listen at all. I'm a classically trained singer who sang professionally and taught voice and choral music for many years. To start, you have to hear the character in his voice (in part, that gravely sound) and actually appreciate that. Don't measure this performance against the only "standards" we've been told are acceptable. Such things are, after all, ultimately subjective. This rendition worked for him, and few people could pull it off the way he does with such a non-traditional "instrument.". He doesn't compromise his style/reputation and were he to try to this would not work. Please note the quality of the instrumentation and arrangement are excellent. Were he not respected (in the business) he probably couldn't have put together such a diverse and talented orchestra, (though it's true some folks are only interested in the $.) While skeptical I found myself wanting to hear the whole song and came away surprised and somehow emotionally touched. Would I want that voice in the Broadway Musical Westside Story, ... no and neither I suspect would Bernstein (the composer) though I'd love to hear his take on it. Somehow ... perhaps it's the emotion and passion I feel, this works on a certain level for me. I admire the hutzpah it took for him to attempt this.
I'm a professional singer too, with a voice so far from Tom Waits, a guy that I admire a lot - I'm a "bossa nova singer". I am Brazilian, so not all songs are perfectly captured by me, while my English is always an exercise. But I know the character built in his voice, talking here about this beautiful song seems to me that is the perfect voice to show who are the ones that would be singing this marvelous song. I have a plenty of his cds and I like it very much. Here's a lot of pieces of art altogether in a precious one, the song built with these pieces, and I'll take your message in a way that confirms what I'm writing. Am I right?
I suspect that experienced musicians might be more likely to appreciate this version … consider the storyline in the musical….. take that romantic pain…. And let someone , that knows that they will NEVER have that chance… with that someone….that someday…. that somewhere…..his is the vulnerability of the infinitely lonely truly broken hearted@@EricoBaymma
