As a deacon myself, I completely agree with this. My pastor knows the details but most people know very little about the position and my ministry. The most important part to me is having one foot in the world and the other in the Church, able to relate to people in both faith and real world problems is a huge asset to the faith and congregation and never be afraid to talk to your deacon about anything.
i was recently baptized this easter vigil, my wife isn't catholic, but i have had the feeling to be a deacon through the RCIA process as well as the deacon and RCIA director both asked me if I would be interested. This is a great video
The Eucharist is an evil pagan ritual, and has nothing to do with receiving Christ. It's essentially saying Christ's sacrifice wasn't enough the first time.
Im a married Catholic man and I somehow I feel compelled by the holy spirit to become a permament deacon. I am not sure and I humbly ask all of you my brothers and sisters in Christ to pray for me. Godbless us all
I am getting married next year but I am contemplating becoming a deacon. But my fiance worried that I will neglect her while serving God and His Church
I always imagined it if we're speaking of a military standard ... the Priest is like a full time officer, and a Deacon is a National Guard NCO. 😊 NCO are absolutely vital to the well being of a unit much as a Deacon is very important to the Clergy.
I would disagree as the equivalent of the commission is Holy Orders in this analogy. Lay ministers would fill the various NCO ranks, but the ordained are the officers. Perhaps the permanent deacon is the captain: to have direct command of a specific body with an objective purpose. Priests would be a major or colonel: more strategic with regard their realm of influence and responsibility, such as over a regiment (analogy for a parish). The Bishop would be a general, with strategic oversight of many organisational units (parishes and communities).
You are Right I not Deacon material. After 30 years of marriage and my Queen. Wife giving birth to 8. Like I tell my wife you carried for 9 months. I carry them for 9teen years. I should be sut up now and practice my Mission Rosary making. Does anyone have any negative comments? Please Tell Me. My Wife can tell you what I would say.
What does it mean when a Deacon says you should be a Deacon ? He has long past. But he was a rough old Man. Hell had One of them educated guy. Who had all the Degrees. He didn't pass. Me and Deacon Ferris. LOVE. He was a Beautiful person. Question should I try to be a Deacon or just be a Good Person ? I don't know the calling. Father Roger Blessed My Queen and I married 30 years ago. And my Prist looked at my wife and told Amy.I sorry Amy you are going to have a HARD time getting Wayne to Haven.
The Pope has told people not to postalize (he gets angry about it) but he says we should evangelize. He told a Anglican priest who wanted to convert to Catholicism to stay Anglican. What is the difference between proselytizing and evangelizing.
Thank you Deacon. Still discerning. Everything you said sounds like it would be a true blessing and to join with the mission of Jesus and in His Church to bring Salvation of our LORD to the WORLD! Yes!
Today at the Church gift shop I wanted to choose a medal. I generally go with St Jude. But essence moved my eyes to St Francis. I took my St Francis medal got it blessed. By the way I am a Knight of Columbus. Anywho I feel so proud with my blessed medal. Now what I feel and Think. At the end of Mass the Father Carlos mentions vocations and he mentioned Deaconship… lately I’ve been reading on St Stephen ❤️❤️❤️. I felt moved. Spoke with my wife about it. She says pray about it!! I’m 44 on May 9. Please pray for me.
Please, I am from the old school. I would like to know all the changes in relation to sexual or carnal intercourse in relation to receiving the holy host and drinking the sacred wine during mass. Please, answer my question.
I would like to know if a Deacon, marriage men who furnicates all night can touch the sacred chalice; drink the wine, open and close the sacristia and serve to others the sacred host. Please, answer my questions. Thanks.
Both of you are very blessed i want to be a deacon but i am sinner and i told my self i can not be a deacon i am unwanted by the way i lost two times decon ordering ceremony and i think the reason is i am a sinner and un wanted man
Deacon...you're very right. I'm actually considering becoming a Deacon. I actually studied coffee agriculture and specialty coffee in Colombia where I live. If youre ever interested in specialty coffees straight from Colombia to try let me know! - Austin
My understanding (and it depends on each diocese), is that the commitment is determined in consultation with the Bishop/Parish priest. My diocese advises that the typical time commitment is 6-8 hours per week. The parish that you are assigned to may also cover some expenses (like travel costs for driving around) if they have the budget for it. The thoughts of remuneration for the work should be part of the discernment process and ideally it should not factor when making the decision. This is a service to be offered for the love of God and his Church not for money.
Hilarious. 330,000 little boys in France were raped by 3,000 catholic pedophile priests, and it barely made the news, because people EXPECT that from catholics. Jesus said child rape was UNFORGIVABLE (Matt 18:6-14), and everyone who supported it will get eternal damnation. That means every catholic. Evangelizing for THAT?? Hilarious.
I'm Catholic! Went to Catholic School and Church. We had Mass and School. These early years are what has shaped me to be; moral, ethical and legal in all my actions!
