About 5-10 minutes south of double Island mate, I was literally right at the very end of the fresh water track coming from rainbow beach road towards the beach
We do the full torque sequence in the video mate and I have attached the workshop manual chapter for it in the description. You need to leave the Special timing and lock tools in place until everything is back up tight again
Very informative video thanks Simon. I’ll be heading off to have my FJ weighed asap. I did remove my underbody 4mm thick bash plates this year as they added a huge amount of unnecessary weight for the type of wheeling I do. Fingers crossed for a successful weigh in. Thanks again 🤓
Oh yeah that is interesting. I guess it's one of those things how it's just a tick for the government lol. I mean in other states you can fit exactly the same as what we have in terms of gvm upgrade but the new gvm be 3t... it's the same bloody country lol
Wow 1,280kg is shockingly low, you're over your GVM with barely anything in it, 1 occupant and half of a small tank of petrol. My Patrol Ute is over 3,900kg GVM. My Holden Crewman is lighter and has a higher GVM. Seriously, I'm sorry mate but even a Jimny can carry a roo bar, in Australia its a must, not just for offroad but for anyone who spends much time away from the cities and town.
Yep to be fair its only the front axle and the front bar weighs 60 kg then add the winch and cradle, 4mm bash plates and rock sliders then the spot lights and light bar and rhino rank. It's carrying more than just a Roo bar that's adding to the front axles The jimnys pay load is less than half my pay load mate and it's gvm is less than what and standard fj weighs... hardly comparable Barely anything in? Lets list whats added that ads weight Full drawer system and a fridge that's also got a crate of water in Dobinsons coilovers Dual battery system with dcdc and solar Full length under body protection Front bar Winch Arb Compressor Rhino rack 270 degree awning Method race wheels x 5 Rear bar and spare wheel carrier Rocker sliders Nit hardest anything is it mate
Bushings are a bit of an art form imo 😁 Always a fine balance between comfort and performance I think one mistake many of us make when we first start playing around with bushes (not a euphemism 😅) is a lot of the time we get false sense of performance from upgrading to poly bushes because you often don't notice how bad the vibration is from the polys because the rubber bushings were SHOT beforehand, then years later when you finally go back to rubber bushes you're like "what was i Thinking?"🤦♀️😂
Guys, I wasn’t following the manual correctly and I didn’t loosen off the water pump pulley before removing the alternator and belt. I’ve tried the 2 spanner trick but I’ve got one bolt left still tight. How did you remove that last one? Thanks
Hi Simon, do you have pictures, a link or details of the washers you had to use on the front brake conversion? This looks like a great option for an upgrade. So Ford fiesta ST150 calipers and discs. What are the washers and where were they needed. Thanks and the cars looking great by the way!
Hey brother I'll pop a link in the description in the next few hours for you. Remeber I'm in Australia though, so you might be better finding something in the UK if you're there (most of my audience on escort vids are in the UK) You place the spacers between the caliper and the hub. The caliper bolts to the hub so you will need longer bolts too. Hit me up on instagram and il send more pictures brother
Hi Simon, which discs did you use? Also for a St150? I'm looking for a front brake upgrade, I thought about cossie 4x4 calipers and 2WD (283mm) discs, but cossie parts are quite expensive these days. So it would be much easier to get my hands on a set of ST150 calipers, plus discs and pads are available everywhere. OEM Ford Parts will make TÜV in Germany possible as well.
I just got st150 discs from a local brake supplier mate and opted for grooved ones. They are standard size st150 though which is 18mm bigger than rs turbo
Great video very helpful. When my mechanic opened up the timing belt cover he showed me one of the belts were completely gone, but the jeep was running perfectly. He did the timing belts but now I have a problem with my jeep. The water is blowing out of the radiator into the overflow container. If I were to keep driving after about 1 hour it would heat up and I would have to fill about a pint and a half of the water back into the radiator to keep driving for another hour. My question is if the timing wasn't done properly with the two belts, would this be the cause of the issue that I have or could the timing belts go on wrong? If either of the timing belts were one cog out could this cause the problem or would you know by listening to the jeep running?
Sounds like your coolant system has an air lock and is causing some over heating issues. Check there are no leaks from the water pump. It's unlikely that timing being out will cause coolant to appear in the over flow that's usually an indication of a pressure change in the system from heat or air locks
Car ran fine. I won the sprint series with it. Tracked it for 18 months after doing the belt.and have since sold the car but it's still working fine This video was uploaded on my other channel but I decided to only run one channel, I made this video in 2022 so the upload date here is a bit off
Hiya Simon, have you still got the original compensators on the rear,I'm in the process of doing my brakes, some people say to put the ford ka inline reducers on.im going efi next year like you.
I can’t even begin to tell you how helpful this video was! Was able to get my timing job sorted in a day thanks to you guys! 🤘🏻 I was NOT prepared for how much strength it was gonna take to tighten the crank bolt though! You guys made that extra 90 look easy. Time for a bigger breaker bar 😂
