1/4". If you're looking for the best one, I think Boostwerks Engineering is back in production. That's the one that I wanted, but this one has been on for a year now and I have no complaints, especially for the price.
They are interchangeable, pretty much the same thing. We purchased some kerosene to try in our old heater because some say that it burns cleaner, but I could not tell a difference. Just buy whatever is available at the best price.
Diesel has some lubrication additives that aren't necessary in a heater, but that's about it. Most people use it because it's easier to get and sometimes less expensive.
You should try the FLEXTAILGEAR EVO Pump 3 Portable Air Pump for that mattress. I have the same tent and this pump can overinflate the mattress in under 15 seconds. It also deflates it just as fast using the deflating valve side of the mattress. I took mine to The Arctic Ocean from California just a month ago. I charged the batteries a month before that and I still haven’t recharged it. It’s that good.
Thanks, I'm really getting tired of buying different pumps, 4 so far including the Flextail dedicated deflator. Does the one that you have fit inside or outside of the mattress valve? I think the issue that I'm having is the flap inside the valve is interfering with deflation and I need to find an adapter that does not fit inside.
@@campoutwestus It sounds to me like you are not using the two valves (inflate and deflate). Only one (to inflate) for both functions. Please correct me if I am wrong. [apologies in advance if you already know this] Just to clarify, this is what I mean. There is a valve on the left side of the rear of the mattress (looking from outside) that is used to inflate the mattress. It's orange tab will prevent deflation, making it almost impossible to deflate the mattress. On the right side, there is a second cap to the deflate valve. The orange tab in that one prevents air from going inside the mattress, so you can use it to easily deflate it. My pump needs to be held in place outside the valve for about 10 seconds to inflate and about the same to deflate when running in reverse, using the appropriate valves. If you want I can make a short clip showing this. Feel free to reach out to me if you have an X (Twitter) account and we can DM.
No, we are absolutely using both valves. Inflation is fine, but deflation takes forever. There were some Folks on the I.O. Facebook Forum that designed an adapter to fit on the outside of the valve instead of the inside because they were having the same issue. I've got the 3d print file, I'm just trying to find someone to print it. The consensus seems to be that the deflator becomes obstructed by the orange disc.
@@campoutwestus Interesting. Sorry to learn you are having problems. I wonder if there are different versions of the valves. I deflated mine many times as we camped at different locations traveling most of the United States and through British Columbia, Yukon and The Northwest territories, and had no issues. My orange disc (on the right side) opens up when deflating allowing the pump to suck all the air out in just a few seconds. I have to do a full walkthrough of my tent now that I know it well, but I am in the middle of editing my expedition to The Arctic for this Friday. As soon as I get a chance, I will upload something about that. Cheers!
Planning to visit Soldier Meadow and Sheldon NWR next month and wondering what route you chose to take from Soldier Meadow to Virgin Valley campground?
@@johnlewis7047 we took County Rd 217 to Soldier Meadow Rd, through the Indian reservation, then Knot Creek Rd to 140 (Denio-Adel Rd). I'm just looking back at our route on Gaia GPS and I think this is pretty close to what we actually drove. Hope you have a great trip! 👍. Also, as far as I know, no one recovered the $20 we put in the book 😉
Thanks so much. It looks like there are options with your route being the most direct. By the way, I really enjoy the adventurous and intrepid nature of your videos…especially that long drive without a working clutch!
On a related note, I saw that you went to Soldier Meadow HS from Cedarville via Gerlach. Have you gone thru Fly Canyon from High Rock Canyon to Soldier Meadow? I was told that it’s SPORTY!
On the rear end did you end up welding new pedi stools or just flip the axel 180 degrees to get your leafs on top? I’m trying to do that to my Comanche and am wondering how much work I’m looking at getting into before I start it 7:31
Yes, we welded in new spring perches in the correct position and at the correct pinion angle. I did the swap close to 20 years ago before I had a good welder, so I just tacked them into the correct position and then had a welder burn them in.
The "Winners" was the Sonoma Inn originally. My step father was the Auditor/Controller until 1957.. we then moved to Pacific Grove California, quite a change. Winnemucca was a very cool town. Often visited Paradise Valley. Back when it was legal (pre 1968) over the years we found hundreds of arrow heads up around Cottonwood Creek.
@@campoutwestus Yup. Hunting for scorpions, throwing blasting caps in the Humboldt river to blow out the carp, picking choke cherries and pine nuts. Best story was standing inline with all the kids at the Sage Theater all day Saturday movies for a quarter. Next door was a bar.. On one of those Sat. we heard a huge ruckus/ sounded like a real fight with broken bottles and chairs and then comes an Indian flying out the door backwards with a knife in his belly.. I kid you not. This was the real deal.
@@campoutwestus Welcome to Winnemucca, a balanced community. For everyone of the 13 brothels there was a church. I really miss that town given it still has some of that "charm". By the way,, about a mile up Water Creek there was Chief Winnemucca's winter camp ground on the right (west). Not only did we fine dozens and dozens of projectile points ( arrow heads ) I found a Spanish bridle. The local museum director, archeologist, confirmed it as being made around 1500. Alas, stolen from my collection along with other finds. Keep in mind the county was named after the famous German explorer Von Humboldt.
The real vintage trailers. Love all of them. The decor of the era is the special touch for sure. It's amazing the people can restore these and find or make the decor for the time period. Thank you so much for the tours, without all the talking in between that usually occurs, with these type tours lol. Back to back vintage!
Six women in the forest. What could go wrong? Cindy seemed like a pro with that axe. This looked like a wonderful trip. Good food, lots of laughs, and great scenery. Too bad about the rain at the end though. 👍88
It's been a few years since we explored that area, but we did experience the worlds slowest gas pump in Fields and along with another couple spent the night in their rental house. I miss exploring in SE Oregon, SW Idaho and N Nevada the most of all places in the Northwest. Great video, very nice, most enjoyable. Thank you. Jerry in Yakima
Lovely trip, lovely video! Thank you! Rode my Moto Guzzi 1200 Sport to Usal a few years ago. Really itching to finish the road on my Triumph Tiger 850 Sport soon! So cool to see you folks out on those classic bikes! Bravo!
@@kristinkoepke5182In our old rooftop tent we were able to store a lot of bedding. This newer, low profile tent only allows one sleeping bag flat out, with one blanket on top. We compare the two tent styles in our "inspired overland rooftop tent review" video and that might help you to decide which style tent is best for you.
Im loving your videos! Especially the history that you add to it. Do rhey have a ghost town map ? Keep up the good work. I know those videos kare a tin of work to make and edit
@@kristinkoepke5182 I appreciate the kind words. There are a few different Nevada ghost town books we have used, but we have more luck studying maps. Also there's a website with a lot of great information www.nvexpeditions.com/index.php thanks for watching!
That’s very nice of you to help out after the destructive bikers. Gold Point really is an awesome looking town. I would love to take a roadtrip through Nevada and explore so many of these ghost towns you show here. Wait a minute, you guys are in a mustang now? When did that happen? If I ever visit Gold Point I will say hello to Walt. 👍44
@@CraigKoppel 😁 yes, this road trip required air conditioning and a little more speed so we drove my daily driver and it was great! I was a little worried on some of the dirt roads, but the Mustang was a champ and we didn't pop a tire 👍
@@htchevyii771 thanks, Trey does most of the research to find places. His Dad actually found this place and told us we had to go meet Walt. Appreciate you watching!
I have a similar problem with my 88 Cherokee. The electric door locks operate slowly in the front and not at all on the back two doors and hatch. Have a really bad voltage drop.
What does it mean if your rig gets tag with a flying cox? Some kind of inside joke I am sure, but I won't go to another event until I know what it means.
@@ETRNL9983 I think it's an official Gambler symbol. Was it drawn in dust or spray painted on? If it's in dust; just out of humor. If painted; someone either doesn't like you, or really likes you?
Another great video. You two are doing what I always hoped to do in my retirement. Unfortunately for me, life intervened, I'm still working, and I'm too old to be doing any long-distance road trips now. So keep on producing the videos, and I'll enjoy vicariously.
@@williamwallace9826 thank you so much for the kind comment and the reminder to do the things you enjoy while you still can as you never know what life will throw at you. I hope you're able to get out for some adventures, no matter how close to home. I'll happily continue making videos knowing people enjoy them.
Yes it is. They are sold for 5 gallon drinking water bottles. We purchased ours on Amazon, it has a USB rechargeable battery. The one that we bought shows not available, but there are many others available. We do remove it during travel. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B087QFGYSM?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
