Are the springs supposed to push the door open forcefully or do you have to lift them open after putting the code in and twisting the knob? I have one in each of my vehicles and the springs in both seem very weak, especially my f150, I have to practically hold the lid up to keep it from falling while stowing and unstowing.
Had my vehicle broken into and had guns and valuables in Console Vault. Thieves got into it like butter. They somehow bent up the metal tab near the 4-digit dial pad and were able to open it. After I bent the tab back the Console Vault worked like new--except it didn't work! I have no idea how they got in other than bending that "lift" tab near the dial pad. I reached out (twice) to Console Vault to ask if they had any idea about the defect and they were no help, and actually didn't seem to care. They offered a new one, but as I said before, after I bent the tab back, it seemed to work like new. I don't know what a new one would do because thieves (or at least the ones that broke into my vault) could break in same as before. I don't keep anything in there anymore (except my beer). You would be better off just hiding your guns and valuables.
How do you set open to the left or open to the right? Upon receiving it is pointed straight up and there is no orientation so is horizontal lett or right?
@@Avathreyn I'm not sure what more needs to be said, you see that gap between the door and the edge of the safe by the lock? You slide a large flat-head screwdriver or if you're extra fancy a pry bar in that gap and pop it open. That little latch isn't going to be nothing more than a minor nuisance to a thief. The only time something like this should be used to store something like a firearm is when you're in a gun free zone or another place where you can't carry it.
@lPHOENIXZEROl I'm not sure why the need for condescension. I'm trying to educate myself and you are not a very good educator. Thanks for the info but not for the attitude.
@@Avathreyn I didn't know I had to be "teacher" here. Don't get your panties in a bunch, I explained what the problem is with these lock boxes for an issue that I thought was obvious. If I wanted to talk down to or insult your intelligence I wouldn't have wasted my time.
I bet that New Console lock would work on other safe manufacturers. The hole for the lock where the shaft goes through is a standard diameter, so it should install on any under the seat safe.
I just ordered my safe. I’ll wait and see how that is first before I move onto a better lock. On second thought, I wish I had seen this video before I ordered.
