In my hometown of Elkhart, IN I heard this incredible song on a local radio show on 88.1 FM called “The Night Wave”, which featured synth pop, post punk and new wave. Instantly, this tune became my fav HL tune for its, at the time, cutting edge sound and anti-war message even though it did not attain the commercial success of other HL songs.
Chris Whitten playing, or pretending to play, the drums on this "live" performance. In the 90's he went on to play with McCartney and Dire Straits. Do I win a prize?
Man when I was a kid love action was in my cassette player, playing over and over. Lol the human league was and still are my all time favorite 80s pop group. They are all musical geniuses. They were right there with Duran Duran, culture club, flock of seagulls, Gary numan, there were so many to list here. I always thought the girls in human league were so beautiful. Wow stone cold foxes...
Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley 😍 - two hottest SUPER CUTE CHICKS of my memories growing up early 80s East LA disco scene. NO, NONE - NADA chicks today can dance like these two homie!
He doesn't know what to do with his arms "Hmm let's see should I cross my arms, put them on my sides or behind my back? Hmm I think I'm just going to grab the microphone". I think he realized how ridiculous they looked, lip synching on that stage, surrounded by bird poo
Maybe it was too windy; maybe it was too warm; maybe it's jetlag; maybe there was some last-minute schedule change; maybe he thought they were going to do it live. He just seemed to be showing an ounce of annoyance and disappointment from his demeanor. The rest of the band was making the most of it!
It’s wild that this was The Human League’s first American television appearance considering how much this single and album completely landed with a thud in America, much less how badly it did in their home country of Britain.
