Welcome to Working Timbers Co.! My name is Adam Noe and I'm a woodworker and content creator.
Between 589 and 591 B.C. there was a man trying to get to the Americas with his family and so he built a ship. He was one of the earliest woodworkers to travel to the Americas. He was a man of God. History records that much of his inspiration for building came from God. Here is what he wrote:
“we did work timbers of curious workmanship. And the Lord did show me from time to time after what manner I should work the timbers of the ship."
These are the roots of woodworking in America so from that phrase Working Timbers Co. was born.
Follow along and become part of our journey as we build inspiring and unique projects. I hope you will also join us in continuing this pattern of inspired workmanship.
Thank you! Yes you could if it’s a shorter piece. I wouldn’t try cutting anything narrow as your hand is too close to the blade, you would want to cut from a larger piece and most miter saws will only do 12” long depending on your saw. Hope that helps.
If you are referring to the part where I add the slab to the legs, I would probably not glue it up or use dominoes the second time around since they won’t allow for wood movement. So far there haven’t been any issues at all. I would probably go with Z clips or something like that to attach it. For dominoes replacement in general you could try for a doweling jig. Those are really great actually. Hope that helps.
So I own a safe store just curious on your thoughts id like to make drawers for custom safes ideally id pre buy the wood to depth and thickness and go with a-lot of jigs to mass produce. All drawers the same height and most the same width but sometimes wider just curious on what you’d use.
Really liked the build and the video but the scene where your cleaning the rabbet with a chisel toward the meat of your hand made grit my teeth. Please don't do that!
Hey Jim. This wasn’t an endorsement/advertisement of their product just my opinion of the unboxing from going on 5 years ago. The G6 is still available in orange. The G6 wireless is available in black. Hope that helps.
Yes. I have several. I don’t have anything to compare to, but people have said they require a little more maintenance. I haven’t noticed anything more than what is required. Hope that helps.
What about chairs without armrests? Are those for full arm amputees from the shoulder? 😁 Just giving you a hard time but this design is only to support the elbow or mid arm. The elbow can hang off the edge when arm is at 90. Quite comfortable actually. It’s interesting too that when sitting at a table the etiquette based encouragement is to keep elbows off the table. Why is that? Why not keep arms off the table. All that being said. I have sufficiently justified my design. 😂 Thanks for watching and the feedback!!
You have to tie it to the structure- not just let the jack down and done. ALso, it is Thompsons Water Seal- not THE TWS. You would not say I used THE Benjamin Moore paint. You have to seal all joints or you will get water ingress and it will split over time.
I tied it down with fasteners from the top not show in video. You’d be surprised how easy it was to remove the old one. It wasn’t very secure. Nor was it an actual post. lol. Builders around here take shortcuts. Not sure what you are trying to say about TWS. White oak is naturally outdoor resistant. I think I will have years before anything will need to be done to it if at all.
@@WorkingTimbersCo No worries. In the video you left that part out so some people think you don't have to secure it. TWS was about your improper use of grammar. You don't use the word THE. You were using it as a indefinite article. Would you say I am going to THE Home Depot or just Home Depot. My friend is a builder. He built something like you did and less then a year later it split. Moisture got in. You have to seal it up with more then simple glue. The water can also get inside and rot the post. That is why homes use flashing. Wood and water don't go well together. It's the seams you mostly need to wrorry about.
My kids used to stand on it and it held up really well but a couple years ago I decided to change the design and give it arch legs and an apron across. Not sure if it would have held up in the long run. Maybe not.
Don’t worry! It took years to build up my tool collection. Make with what you have and just build over time 👍🏼 Visualize what you want and work for it and you will get there.
