Yes that should not be a problem. I will be adding one to the door from the garage very soon. If run 2 smart locks in my last home and in the rental I just left without any issues.

Hi! I just finished watching your great video review. I had a question about how the Tapo doorbell works in conjunction with the Tapo app. I already have a Tapo account and use the app for my CCTV cameras. If I connect the doorbell to the same account, will my phone automatically make a sound when the doorbell is pressed? Or will I have to open the app to see who is at the door? I’m looking for a doorbell that functions like the BUZ app, which automatically sounds an alert when someone calls me.
@IDEAHomeandTech
@IDEAHomeandTech 22 дня назад
Hi and thanks for your comment. On my devices it sends a notification to the phone that you can interact with to pull up a call window in the app. Depending on your setup it can/will also show up on Amazon and Google devices. The doorbell shows up on my TVs as well. I had to cut time in the video for fear of it becoming too long so I wasn’t able to share that as well. I am planning a follow up video with my home automation solution in the not too distant future.

Worked perfectly with BGW210! Used TP-Link Deco Mesh System (X55) (3 units). Important to make sure you are using a ethernet cable connected to modem and PC. 1. Log into ATT modem using any browser. (192.168.1.254). 2. Disable Packet Filters. 3. Go into the firewall advanced tab and make sure all settings are set to off and then save. 4. Select allocation mode to IP Pass-through, then manually enter your routers MAC address (can be found on router) then save. 5. Make sure to turn off 2.4GHz wireless along with 5GHz signal. 6. Restart your modem. Should be all set to plug in your new/current router! Hope this helps somebody out there!

I have been struggling with my U-Bell door camera since I bought it almost a year ago. For the life of me, I can't get it to connect via the App on my Samsung S22 Ultra. Everything is connected as far as the doorbell, but it keeps saying the device is offline. SMGH! Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations since they no longer offer Tech Support for the device? I've tried unregistering the device and I can't seem to do it because when I think I deleted the account and try to start over it says the device was previously added/registered.

Just a tip when you connect the powerline adapter for the first time resync them together so they can work out the best seed to run at, the out of the box state may limit the speed as im sure most are set to the slowest speed out the box for maximum reliability, I know resyncing mine improved my speed big time.

@@arranmc182 these were unboxed offscreen and in my case needed to be synced out of the box. I don't believe resyncing would net better results in the rental home I was in. This is mostly due to the distance of the internal wiring in this rental home. It was a 2 story home with the circuit panel in the garage and a bit older. However, since this video I also did a video on MOCA adapters which is my preferred method when available. We also moved 2 months ago and the new home is prewired in pretty much every room with cat 6 so it may be a while before I rerun this test since I have a ton of other videos I'd like to get out. But I will likely revisit it just to see what the difference is in comparison to just the "stock" home cabling and the MOCA adapters. I now have 1 gig low latency fiber to the home so that test will be interesting!

Powerline adapter standards are cheeky when then say 2000Mbps its actually 1000Mbps in each direction just like a standard Gigabit ethernet connection, they seem to love combing the download and upload rates so they can slap bigger numbers on the Box and marketing promos 😅

If your in the UK and your fuse box has an RCD then 100% get power line adaptors, I got a free upgrade from VDSL 70Mbps down to Full Fibre 200Mbps down and get the full speed of my internet via powerline adapters no issues, I picked up the TP-Link TL-PA7027P KIT (simalar to the ones used in this video but for the uk market) as that one has dual ethernet ports on both ends so acts as a bit of a switch and also has the power passthrough so you still retail use of the socket.

In what position(s) did you move the switch(s) to on both MoCa adapters? 1GW, LAN or 25GW? I'm running ethernet from the ONT directly to my Router (no need for a MoCa adapter here) BUT I will need 2 of these, 1 after the Router and 1 at the other end of my home (2nd floor) to obtain a wired ethernet connection. Thanks!

So here are my 2 cents… I’ve owned and used several Roombas , between myself and family members. I also maintain several lodging properties, where we have tried a few different brands of robot vacuums and mopping robots. So far, we have found robot vacuuming to be invaluable in cleaning and maintenance. However testing of all mopping robots has not provided any such value. They are cumbersome , high maintenance, and not very effective. The brand Tikom is the best robot vacuum, by far! But for mopping, we are still waiting …
@IDEAHomeandTech
@IDEAHomeandTech 3 месяца назад
I don't disagree the mopping just isn't there yet and having to swap out to add the pads isn't ideal. But I'd say it's not a bad add to the device if they aren't going g ro provide a larger bin for the vacuum. I k ow features is the name of the game and they wouldn't stand out otherwise but I was still pleasantly surprised that it worked at all because I was skeptical.

What is the difference between IP pass through and bridge mode? I’m trying to understand the difference.
@IDEAHomeandTech
@IDEAHomeandTech 4 месяца назад
In IP passthrough mode, your selected device gets the public IP address, but other devices connected directly to your router will get local IP addresses and still be able to connect to the internet through it network address translation (NAT). In bridge mode, the ISP routes the internet traffic via your modem/router device without carrying out any routing functions. When you set your modem/router in bridge mode it only passes the WAN/ public IP to the next device, your router/firewall.

Old house though. Is that 400ft including all electrical lines that the unit connects to in the whole house? Also, once the signal hits the panel does it disperse across all lines regardless or where you plug it in? Inquiring minds want to know lol

IS THIS SAFE TO DO??? Will this setup make your home network more vulnerable to outside internet dangers? I tried it and ALL the devices in my home sped up! MUCH more responsive internet experience by far!!! I"m not kidding, it was amazing how fast even the TV worked, browsing through it's apps has never been so fast and responsive. But, I was afraid of devices like phones and stuff with no aftermarket internet security, being exposed to "hackers" or criminals or something, so I changed it back to it's default settings. With Arris BGW210 default settings, some sites will not finish loading at all and it's a MUCH slower internet experience over all. CAN YOU LEAVE IT WITH THESE SUGGESTED SETTINGS??? ARE THERE DANGERS WITH THIS SUGGESTED SETUP? Thanks for any help! My setup is just a single AT&T Arris BGW210, with the Ethernet cables running to a few things and the Wi-fi for phones and printer. No secondary router.
@IDEAHomeandTech
@IDEAHomeandTech 9 месяцев назад
In my scenario, I was connecting to a firewall for routing. In most cases, even newer aftermarket routers will likely provide better security. The benefits depending on your routing device could be improved security like Geo-IP filtering. Amongst other things, I filter and block IPs by county and make exceptions as needed. So yes it could make your network more vulnerable but there are ways to mitigate those risks. I would say that the ISP's gateway only provides the bare minimum level of protection to begin with. If you are bypassing it, your next step should be to invest in better security. Some devices like cellphones can already do a good job at that. I also use tailscale with my routing device setup as an exit node to allow VPN access without opening direct ports to the outside world and requiring a level of encryption/validation to get access back in outside of the sites I visit. Most ISP modems/routers don't do the best job at analyzing traffic once it hits your browser. That would be where device and internal network security should kick in.

@@IDEAHomeandTechagreed One thing I think you missed The first powerline plug you use had two sockets but that plug is input only assumably Meaning it should accept two lans directly from your router Most likely each Lan input only accepts 1gbps So two may get you a lot closer What I can tell you is two things A 500mbps Gives me 450mbps in a £30 or. $36 set Ok I know for sure UK electric systems regulations use a loop much preferred for these And heavier gauge wire because we run double the volts But you shouldn't be loosing that much with them plugs in my experience Also remember if living with looped wiring in the house like the UK and Germany do the distance is halfed and noise is reduced massively because each house plug runs two ways back to the power board not like the USA who only run in one direction past EVERY PLUG ON THAT LEVEL I have a workshop wired up before the main boards fuses And it's own fuses box on workshop They are not even supposed to work like this Yet over the 80ft of armoured cable it only looses 18% of what is stated Remarkable over here Yet very mixed results in the USA Also Repeaters on the lower end like most nearly all TP LINK ones do not interface with the router DNS correctly and will break the auto trigger for some devices to swap seamlessly For me just buy a wireless switch Beats any router or range extender But will still need that Lan input If Lan over powerline is not proving results even the TP link cheap repeats can be used As a Lan extension only Meaning you switch the outgoing wireless off let it receive wirelessly and then into Lan to the switch Hope this makes sense Good repeaters cost nearly the same but get bogged down with the router style interface that all run extra firewalls for no reason because its all done by the router and running these twice messes with things often too So use a cheap wireless repeater to just send signal to lan nothing else and then a switch or wireless switch of you need signal boosting but using truly seamless settings directly from the router
