Hey mate, what settings did you use in the emulator. Mine runs like dogshit, I am on a laptop with iGPU however I am on the ultra 7, so I thought it wouldn't be too bad. Thanks
Hey! I ran this game on the last stable version which is Dolphin 5.0. I don't recall changing any settings around except for the sound just so things output a little better. If it runs like crap for you, I'd recommend trying the nightly or canary builds of Dolphin to see if the game runs any better on those versions.
@@Crunchynote Hey man, thanks for the reply, What specs on your PC did you have? I'm on Ultra 7 and its iPGU on a laptop maybe that's why...but wii emu shouldnt be that taxing. Anyways, I altered a few settings include lowering CPU clock in the emu. I can run it relatively stable, though frame dips still appear in dense areas. What specs did you have at the time? Thanks for making the vid btw!
The hardware that the arcade machine runs on is: CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (RTX 2070 on the Compact version) Memory: DDR3 8 GB So if you have hardware similar or better than the above, your PC should run this just fine. You can play this game with a 4-monitor or 2-monitor setup (both including a touchscreen) - or, you can run it on one monitor, but all four displays will be scrunched down like you see in my video (and you'll have to use your mouse to do any touch related inputs)
@@Crunchynote Thanks a lot for you reply. I continue with my questions ^^ My specs are above yours so it should run fine. I have 2 screens as well but no touchscreen. Is that still playable with the mouse ?
@@alkilee3084 No problem! It's still playable, but you'll need the second monitor to physically sit under your main one (and you'll need to adjust this as well within Windows settings), otherwise, the game won't recognize your layout. In terms of using your mouse with this setup, you can definitely do it. You will just need to look down at that monitor and move your mouse there as well so that you can touch whatever you need to in-game. The touchscreen monitor is also the screen used to navigate the menus, so if this is something that wouldn't bother you, I encourage you to give it a try. I personally don't mind playing on one monitor like you see in my video, although it would be nice to play with all four. Buying so many things just for this game seems a bit too much for me at the moment.
@@avavii I’ve personally not had issues with sound, but if I were you, I’d check your Dolphin settings > Audio > and make sure you’re on DSP HLE emulation and have your backend set to OpenAL.
while ive tried to run this game, its still asking me about the directx6.1, and if i launch it with the w95 compatibiity mode, it crashes and displays an error message "abnormsl program termination", is there any way to fix this?
Are you running it on Windows 10/11? If you don’t have the option to run a virtual machine with Windows 7, I recommend looking into dgVoodoo. It’s what I use to run the Densha de Go games on modern hardware. It should work for this game too
Did you have difficulty emulating this in dolphin? Last time I tried to emulate it on my SteamDeck I got extremely poor frame rate. I’m not sure if it was an emulation issue or if the SteamDeck isn’t powerful enough.
Yeah. There are some builds of Dolphin that run this game like absolute crap. I’d recommend trying the Beta/Nightly build of Dolphin as they run the game a whole lot better.
@@Chapperino Densha de Go is one of those games you can honestly play with little to no knowledge of the Japanese language! If you’re intimidated by the language gap, I’d recommend checking out the PC port of Densha de Go FINAL - it has a fully translated English patch. Once you know how to play that one, you’re pretty much all set for the rest of the games in the series, and there are plenty!

Nothing fancy, just an Xbox controller! The choppy FMV is most likely due to Yuzu. This one and Nagaragawa have a hard time running in Yuzu. Ryujinx is even worse, even on high end specs.
It’s interesting how my subconscious mind immediately started mimicking what the pilots were saying, although I don’t speak their language and the last time I played this game or ever heard of it again was many years ago when I was a kid 😂
i noticed something wrong in the intro, when showing the yellow train. We can see the red lights that means that's the train's back, however the train goes forward slowly. it is supposed to go backwards as the train is showed
5:45 hello! why are you slowing down in this step ? there is nothing on the screen saying the next limitation to 65kmh , you are doing it before because you know by heart this section? or there is a clue to guess you had to slow down ? sankyu! (i'm using dreamcast version)
Hi! That is correct. Memorization is the bread and butter of Densha de Go as a series. Getting the best score in any Densha de Go stage involves memorizing the route so you know where speed limits will be imposed on you, and where you can speed up a bit more to catch up. I hope this helps. ☻
oddly enough this is in my opinion the best theme in the franchise. sure, the usual upbeat tune is nice too, but i prefer this one. it's much more calm.
Awesome, @Crunchynote! 😎 I'm glad to see that you're still uploading videos, and it's amazing that you've played Densha de Go! Shinkansen. 🚅 I have never played this simulator before, but it sounds really cool! 😃 By the way, I also tried to create my own simulator, but it turned out to be quite challenging. 😓 It's not as easy as it looks. Anyway, keep uploading, and I hope you're doing well. 👍
Thanks for the visit and comment. This entry is really special, it’s the second time TAITO released an EX version of a previous entry (first time being Densha de Go! EX for the Sega Saturn). If you’re a fan of Shinkansen trains and simulators that offer longer routes, I definitely recommend checking it out some day. Take care!
@@SixelAlexiS90 Nope, they're reverting back to the "Japanese Train Sim" name with this new title. It's a remake of one of the entries from the 3DS series. More info here: www.sonicpowered.co.jp/train/ex/nsw-nagatetsu/
He’s saying 出発進行(shuppatsu shinkō) which basically means “all aboard!” or “full steam ahead!”. Train conductors in Japan often point or say aloud the tasks they’re performing or signs they’re seeing (in this case, the departure light) to prevent errors and reinforce the steps they’re performing are appropriate and accurate.
@@Crunchynote Thank you for the reply. I didn't notice at first that he was saying it every time the green light popped up. I was too busy watching the scenery. :)
You need to disable "New 3DS mode" within Citra's settings. Having this feature toggled on causes the game to not boot. This works for all Japanese Rail Sim games on Citra.
@@Crunchynote Thanks! that works and the game booted! My only problem now is the audio is really bad and choppy. I have tried both the HLE and LLE settings but the audio is still bad. Is there a setting that fixes this too or is it just that my computer is too bad?
@@nuthead611 I personally use HLE with the SDL2 output engine. This is the best setting for those games. Unfortunately some just sound like crap through emulation. But try adjusting your settings to HLE and SDL2, it should improve it at least a little bit.
Beautiful scenery! I wonder if there’s an English version of this? I have the one for the Eizan line, and it has an English translation. It’s very relaxing, except when you relax too much and speed through the train station. 😅
Unfortunately, not yet. Dispatch Games, the publisher who localized Journey to Kyoto for the Switch, has not yet translated Sangi or Akechi. They possibly might depending on how well the sales did for the first Switch release.
