Never EVER dance on unsprung floors, then you will NOT have shin splints. Stop dancing until they heal. Those shins have to last you for at least the next 80 years, lass. Take from an OLD COMPETITIVE DANCER!

So the guy on the right left only because he kicked a sword ?? (I'm sorry I don't really know how these competitions work ! =S) Thats too bad, because I guess like in every kinds of dancing there are very few boys...?

@midorihelenie ummm. no. not at all. it is a completely and utterly different style of dance they're really not similar in any way shape or form. just sayin.

Awesome! Is river dance basically the same thing as highland dancing? Your dance kinda looks like some of the river dance choreographies, just wondering

Having danced this dance - about 35 or so years ago, it brought back fond memories. You did a beautiful job! It made me want to get back on my feet and try all over again! Good luck in your dancing career - or hobby.

I agree! I always end up doing a blue bonnets or village maid on a small stage...horrible! Very nice dancing by the way! Any tips for keeping balance on last step?? I always end up flat-footed!

Really? I hate the lilt. I think it's the most boring scottish dance, and yes, I do dance. But, then again, I may be biased because it is my worst dance.

Very very nice! I've been to a ceilidh in Nova Scotia where I saw that dance my first time. One question: why is it called lilt and what does lilt mean? I thought it would be that kind of "mouthmusic".. regards from the flat north of germany, chris

Thanks for your "honest feedback"! I agree with you. If you're looking for a good musical support for your dances - may I suggest you "A High cut above" CD from the Canadian SFU pipe band, most probably one the world finest bagpipe music for Highland dancing.

Scottish Dancer 93, youtube isn't allowing me to post as a reply. So here it is: The leaps in Irish dancing come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and NAMES (different schools can use varied names to describe the same move). One of the ones done is a leap over (the name varies), others are like the jump in the air with your legs out to the side. There are a lot of different leaps and you can see a lot of them in this video "Parade of Champions Nationals 2008" by user JBluver1214 .
