NZ has a North Island and the Mainland. The USA has the former Mexico part, the middle part, the New England part-named such by a limy-pom named John Smith in 1616-the South (excluding Florida), some island in the Pacific that are for planes to rest on the way to Aussielandia or Japan, and don't forget the frozen part near Russia. Also, a Yank is only someone from those states that John named. And, England is just as mixed up as the US to divide into North and South.
Growing up, I remember watching videos like this in Japanese and wondering what context could possibly explain them. Having seen this video and plenty of Map Men videos, I now know the answer: nothing.
