Here's the problem with the "they can't afford to lose you" theory. Anyone with half a brain would be able to figure out if I am a high performer I can create other high performers on my team. This high performer is done. The rock star has left the building. I'm now quiet quitting.

What if you've been conditioned by a slew of conversationally dismissive family.. who do not listen, and use dismissive gestures and huffing sighs, before you get to finish the thought, shuts you down.. all the time

Yes before attending a meeting you should take a notebook and a pen when something is asked by others which is important from the meeting point of view then then write it down and think about it why it is important and your voice should be neither loud nor low so that each one easily get you when you speak .

it has nothing to do with the quality of work you do or the duty level of the tasks. even your people skills are just a small fraction. there are many guys in my company doing good work and being known for it. But if your not part of the group in private, meaning you only have contact with the people in the work environment, it is difficult to be promoted from within

How lucky those people are when they have conversation with people in meeting then you need to check the top new stories before attending the meeting because when you talk to the people and when you describe the story how is the response of people might give you more attention.
