@@CavanaughsCorner My pleasure , I’ve been collecting 4K since started and have a great mid range set up which is great. I’ve been to many channels and most of their reviews are the same, but I admire your honesty and I have made purchase’s from your reviews and they are spot on. I’ll try to remember your Amazon link in the future. Best of luck with the channel and keep the reviews coming. I’ve yet to watch Paprika , would you say it’s in the top 10 for visuals this year so far ? Sony does it right ✌️😎✌️
@escapeinto4khd319 That is very kind of you. As for animated movies, Paprika is one probably the best I’ve seen all year. It’s hard to call a top ten at this point because there has been so many great releases so far and plenty to come but it’s definitely up there.
Got my copy couple weeks ago. Paul Brickman also wrote the screenplay to another one of my favs: Bad News Bears Breaking Training. Not as good as the original, but a classic sequel.
Great review. I'm going to buy it based on this review. I wish Shout Factory would also pick up the underrated Shoot To Kill with Tom Berenger, Kirstie Alley and Sidney Pontier.
I have a question for you,if you would be so kind as to give me your opinion. So I heard you say a few times that the old set had various audio issues.,but they obviously weren't something you originally picked up,so I purchased the original 4 film set,and I guess my question is two fold.first off did every single one of the original set suffer from these issues or was it just luck of the draw? In other words some did some didn't? And then how noticeable to you are the differences in the corrected set? Given that you missed them first time? I ask because I'm fairly happy with my ser on the whole, and while I do now notice some slight difference in loudness here and there,I'm not rushing to buy new set because I'm not sure how much of what I'm hearing are source limitations from original sound elements, or meaningful problems across the board.i remember originally people only said rocky 2 was affected and the so called mono track which was mislabelled on rocky 1 but not the 5.1? Thanks
From what I can surmise, it could be dependent on when you bought the set. Once you hear the corrected audio, you’ll hear the difference. Check this article to see if you have the affected discs and if you do I would put in for the free replacement instead of outright buying this new set. You are probably better off just getting the other two films separately. www.patreon.com/posts/yo-adrian-warner-101848761
Except the discs manufactured by WB, distributed by Gruv DON'T work in high end 4K players. 4 different brands of 4K players spanning 6 different models. And because m$ is inept at a simple pass through feature, don't know about Sony, there are those of us who do NOT use game consoles for watching movies in our home theater set-ups. I've yet to see this movie in its remastered form. 3, THREE different orders of this movie, THREE discs, don't work. And of course the ubiquitous contact is b.s. on WBs website will likely Garner ZERO remedies within the next 50 years, so yeah
@CavanaughsCorner me, I'm using the Magnetar UDP800, but the 900 has the same issues, as well as a couple of Panasonic and there's another brand I've not heard of. So it's not the player. And we've All Restored to factory and tried, AND downloaded latest firmware, which downloading firmware to MAKE disc work says it's the disc encoding, NOT the player
@onebgbdartemis1381 Wow, that is wild. I’m sorry you’re having so many issues. This is the first I’ve heard of such an issue. I’m currently using a Sony X800M2 and I have no problems with these discs.
Every 4k disc produced will have some form of DNR applied that has been stated from all studios as its a major part of the restoration process some go overboard as we know.
I want all these rambo films in 4k steelbook using the original poster artwork. let's face it these steelbook art are just tacky and awful fo4r these rambo films The blu ray first blood steelbook did that original poster look and it was fantastic but then we get the best quality 4k for them bet we get the crap artwork. Nice limited edition box set art work but comes with the bad steelbook art
I'm in the minority who was a bit disappointed with the Atmos. All speakers are heavily utilized creating a nice bubble of sound. And the bass is constant & intense, which is really fun But there were A LOT of missed opportunities for panning effects. It's a very static mix with surprisingly little object movement, panning, or discrete audio. So many instances where objects are flying across the screen or towards the listener and you dont hear a thing lol. This can be explained by the loudness of the tornado & rumbling bass, but I wouldve liked a more dynamic mix. There are exceptions though. The cow scene is always fun, as you hear it mooing across your room from one speaker to the next. And the scene where they return to Jo's Aunt's house after its destroyed is absolutely incredible. You can hear the house creaking all around you. For sure one of the best Atmos scenes I've heard. I don't feel like the entire sound mix got the same attention to detail though. Overall it's still a great transfer and a must buy. I'd say 8.5 for the sound and 9/10 for the picture (though the fluorescent green in that one scene was a bit overdone & unnatural).
Thanks CC ... almost wasted my money for this set .. im backing away from any and all 4k discs that dont have atmos these days.. cuz you know they are gonna go back and redo them with Atmos to resell them to us again🤑
I've seen a few others talking about this disc, but I wanted to see what you think because of what you said in your other review: "what's keeping Warner Brothers from putting this on 4k? If they do, they will be printing money." I knew you were gonna be able to tell us if the new disc was better than the German version, because you loved that version. 😂
The new 4K is a completely different experience from the blu-ray that was released back in 2008. The changes are significant in a way I have rarely seen.
@@bassage13 There are many amazing Atmos tracks. I agree, I would be surprised if Twister is the best. But I haven’t heard it yet, so I can’t say. Still waiting on Amazon to ship my steelbook. 🤬
Sorry about the confusion, I ordered the steelbook many months ago and it got delayed with no estimate for delivery. I ended up getting a copy at a local Target instead.
Oh man, I'm sorry. I ordered mine (the steelbook) around the same time and it has been delayed with no estimate of when it will be shipped so I ended up picked up the copy you saw in the video from a local Target.
@@djsoulfilterSame here. Preordered on 4/30, then got an email yesterday saying it was delayed and asking me to “approve” that I still want it. WTF. I complained to customer service and they claim they are going to ship it within 48 hours. I’ll believe it when I see it.
@@shinedown54Yeah, I’ve heard that before; seems like a canned response. I pre-ordered on 4/30, and I just got an email saying that it will arrive on 9/3!?! Part of the appeal for me was re-watching it in 4k before checking out the sequel later this month.
Just a wonderful release!! I'm partial to the 2nd preview cut even with it being rough and unfinished. Gives it extra character and feels like someone stole it for me🤣
Mine arrived yeaterday and already watched it! It arrived dent free as well which I’m usually afraid of when ordering steelbooks online. One of the best movies for sure for me and and De Niro is one of my favorite actors of all time. 🙌🏾 I agree, it’s better to watch in a darker room. I watched it during the day and noticed it has a much better impact and feel visually when watching in a darker room. Especially to see the dark visuals more. Time for another watch. 😂
I just bought this during the July sale. Unfortunately halfway through the movie it started to skip And I had to return it But the night I watched it I wanted to continue watching it So I put in the Lionsgate Blu-ray. The Blu-ray Was more vivid and crisper Then the 4K I was really disappointed in criterion for the 1st time.
@@codingwithguyfranciscopoli9887 that’s great to know - I literally bought the Columbia box set in case they never did a standalone release so it’s really great they are finally releasing it on its own. In fairness the previous Blu ray was really good but wanted to see what they could do with the 4k format - sounds like I won’t be disappointed!
