What's with this ""TURKEY" , who cares about the thermo, he is supposed to be cutting timber, that is what we want to see, not him chasing his coffee all about machinery.

You don’t do any pieces for tables, or epoxies

I have a 2009 Taylor 414ce Limited With Tasmanian Blackwood back and sides and a Sitka Spruce top. It also has Curly Maple binding on the body and neck. It has a beautiful mellow tone and other guitar players have been very complimentary on the looks and the tone. Tasmanian Blackwood is kind of a secret wood in the guitar world. I think Bob Taylor was the first major guitar builder other than Maton in Australia to really produce a good sized run of Tas Black guitars.

You didn’t show off the top of the table very well. Also not impressed with what I saw of the table top or the choice of retro 50s and 60s style of legs.

How long do you let them dry before milling? Do you buy logged burls or just standing timber ?

Good morning from Florida. Wondering if you were going to be doing any more RU-vid videos I enjoy seeing how you process your timbers. Interested in big blanks for wood turning up bowls and stuff

Kind of a shame to cut it into such short lengths. Seems like a good teak substitute.

I have noticed with the exotic logs that they are not sealed at the ends and there is usually some checking, does that cause problems at all?

Chris Cook: "As you can tell, we've got a lot of great videos coming your way..." One year later.... Wait, whatever happened to those great videos? Seriously, you all were making some of the best and most interesting videos on milling exotic wood. I'm still hoping you haven't totally ditched making those videos. I'd suggest, if it could be done, that you guys reach out to some other RU-vidrs and collab with them. Cam with Blacktail Studio is in the Portland Oregon area, and I think a Cook/Blacktail video would be great!

Hey, I hope you’re doing well. Make more videos. It takes RU-vid a while to figure out who your audience is. Once it does you’ll get the views you deserve. Your production quality is great.

Beautiful work. If you are making guitar sets with a heavily spiraled log, shouldn’t the log be sectioned and split into quarter oriented sections?

G'day Chris, I just stumbled on your channel, as a boutique mill operator in Oz I've processed a few Blackwood logs and have only ever looked at it as furniture grade but I've been wanting to know more about grading it and other possible species for musical instruments for obvious reasons. Thanks for explaining what luthiers are looking for and I will be checking out more of your vids 👍.

That yellow color is spectacular, but unfortunately osage wood turns to a reddish brown in a few weeks if it is shaded, and in a few days in the sun.

shoulda split it straight down that check, then slabbed out the bottoms and middle. Leave the corners for turning.

Rare find to get a log that big. Beautiful pieces from that log. The Indians around here used the wood to make their hunting bows and arrows. The hedge apples were used to deter vermin from getting into their winter food storage.

Hey Cook Woods, will you be creating any new videos again? I really hope that you do. Your entire lumbermill setup, from the variety of incredible wood on hand to Slabzilla, is one of the coolest things I've seen. And your videos showcase it all in a very informative, entertaining, and family-oriented way. Again, I really hope more videos are to come. I'm looking forward to it!

There’s a pen Osage Orange tree growing on a front lawn up the street from me. Why this is remarkable is that this is just outside of Toronto. It actually survives the winter here. I didn’t know what it was until I took one of the crazy brain like fruits to several people and one old guy was able to identify it. The correct pronunciation is Bwah D’ark.
