Unfortunately locks only keep honest people out. If they want your trailer that bad they will just bring their own chains and wrap them around your tongue and their hitch.

It’s an efforts game. Hunting through national forests looking for a candidate, is a lot of work. Looking in unattended lots with lots of options is much easier. With that said, over the winter I do lock the wheels. I have a Grade 80 chain that is long enough to go through both wheels on either side.

@ChrisSgaraglino
@ChrisSgaraglino 2 месяца назад
Honestly, it’s been a minute since I did this video. What I do know is that the watts for 12v are different than the watts for 120v. Also, I ran tests at 12v regulated and unregulated. That said, I can go back to the video and find out where you referenced the 350 watts, and then I can tell you what I used to get that measurement. What I use is a 120v in-line meter that gives me voltage and amps being drawn, which I can determine watts at that time. On the 12v side, I have a separate in-line meter that gives me the same readings for watts and a lot more information. It’s good to understand that in most cases, the marketing specs are going to be calculated in a pristine, controlled environment by the manufacturer. That is if it was even tested at all. I have found that in many cases, the specs posted were from the engineered “math” and not real-life testing. One of the biggest factors that I remember in this test was the outside temperature, which was in the high 90s if I'm not mistaken. That's going to cause something like this to work extremely hard. The brick itself was getting extremely hot, and anytime you have electronics that are hot, they're going to draw quite a bit more power than if it was cooler. I'll either find my test data notes, or I'll pull it out and retest it for you this weekend.

I have an class b rv that I can separate just the bed with insulating curtain. The bed is approx 6x5 and height to the roof is 4 1/2 feet, so the entire area is approximately 140 cubic feet and it’s somewhat insulated. Do you think this ac could drop the temp to 77 degrees in the entire area if the temp is 85 degrees at night? I can’t just aim in my sleeping bag because there’s 2 of us. Thx

What do you do if you rented RV out for 3 days and then renter doesn't return it? It happened to be. They've had it over 6 months and they refuse to tell me where its located so I can go get it. I did a stolen report but they haven't done much about finding the couple who have it. I've given the addresses and phone numbers of the couple but they haven't done anything. What should I do? Anyone got any advise? HELP!

We use something similar to secure inflatables for our party rental business. I call them spiral stakes. I have a short video. They have 475 lbs of holding power. We do ask for customer's to know where their underground utilities, gas, electric, water, sprinklers are at since theyre 16" long. We also use 18"-24" 5/8" thick J stakes. Celina tents has a series of videos where they show how to stake down tents, these are commercial tents. Their tests showed that staking straight down has more strength than staking at an angle.

I find it best to remove one side of the tires .. I have a large boat trailer and I take the drivers side 3 wheels off and I also have locking lug nuts on them too so the thief couldn’t unbolt only tire to make it work in their favor. I know it’s not practical, I only do it if I’m not gonna use the boat for a while or if I’m out of town

Will it keep a 8x8 foot tent down around 72F at night with an outdoor temp of 76F, given that there is no solar-heating of the tent at night? I can deal with high temps during the day and I'm not sleeping, but camping in summer in the southeast US is just not happening unless my pansy-ass can be in a cool tent. Hey, at least I still tent-camp and don't bring a TV and DVD player along.

@ChrisSgaraglino
@ChrisSgaraglino 3 месяца назад
For this specific tent, the back window was way too small for cross-ventilation. Any tent I look for now, must have two (2) large openings that I can put inline with the wind direction. These can be a door/door, door/window, or window/window combination, across from each other.

I have disconnected the 12v aux lead so it doesn't power my trailer. I also remove the safety chains. I also have a Proven industries tongue lock. BTW those aluminum puck locks are fairly easily defeated. See the LockPickingLawyer video. I have Proven industries Stainless Steel puck locks. Then lastly I active my Tracki subscription and hide it on the trailer. Those things won't make it Fort Knox, but it will slow a thief down or possibly make him go to an easier target.
@ChrisSgaraglino
@ChrisSgaraglino 3 месяца назад
Remember, that the tongue jack works as soon as plugged into a vehicle, it does not need the RV Battery. My puck is steel, and LPL picked a regular keyed lock, their version I have is the round key and he mentioned how difficult it actually is. Also, most thieves are opportunists, key typically don’t know how to pick. With all that said, and what you are doing - the whole object it to make my (your) trailer least desirable to that opportunist thief.

Im really confused. Why would you not pull fresh air from the conditioned air inside the tent so the unit doesn't have to run as hard? If you can set a temperature does it blow that temperature (like a vehicle) or does it run untill the air reaches that temp then the compressor kicks off (like a home central hvac)

Because you wouldn't be recirculating it, you're running that air across the condenser and then shooting it outside so you'd be taking your cold air and getting rid of it. it's already recirculating the cold air inside to push over the evaporator

- Hiding your own chains is not a bad idea but I think a good thief would carry his own chains - just as he would carry an angle grinder for when he finds that vacant lot. In this scenario, maybe disconnect the power jack entirely or disable its switch and remove the hand crank?

I keep my welding trailer up on concrete blocks at the corners. No dragging it off without jacking up each corner and removing blocks. I also took the safety chains off so it cant be towed away using them, The new safety chains have a shackle on each end. Inside the trailer is an old fashioned mercury stitch so that if the angle changes it sets off an old style red fire alarm bell.

That's why I switched to a 5R and switched to a Goosebox. No kingpin. It's a lot more work to hook up! You need access to the landing gear to raise it enough to drop on the ball, safety chains won't help. I also have a kill switch for the Landing gear so if they have a universal key for the control panel they can't move the landing gear. Yes it's a PITA but I want it to be for people that want my rig they better want it bad enough to figure it out. Showing people how this works helps the bad people out. The Internet YT, Facebook etc is a great way for criminals to learn unfortunately.

@billredding2000
@billredding2000 9 месяцев назад
@@martyh4777 Well, rememeber that it's been said many times over the years -- even by police chiefs and recruiters -- that police work is not for the best/brightest, as they wouldn't be happy in that field. So I'm guessing a "medium level" of intelligence is best? ;-) Still, it's also been said that the police can make LOTS of mistakes in solving a crime, but a criminal only needs to make ONE mistake to get caught. Plus, the police often DO eventually find the "suspect," even if it takes a while. EXCEPT for certain cases (some of them high-profile) where they don't even have a "clue" (see what I did there). However, I'd think that detective would be a bit smarter than the average street-cop. I usually rent U-Haul trailers when I move...but when I park at hotels for the night, I AM concerned about theft given the amount of criminals out there, especially since many hotels are located in sketchy parts of town. Or maybe they'll just steal my truck's catalytic converter instead... -- BR
