Hey Everyone! We are Bethany & Drew, two Urban Explorers based in Los Angeles. Our goal is to explore unique sights, reveal their history, and document the experience along the way. Each episode is written, filmed, edited, and produced by us. We're glad you stopped by, and we hope you enjoy our adventures.
Wow, Amir's garden looks lovely. I've been exploring Griffith since a few months ago. I mostly hike around the observatory since I live closest to Fern Dell and Vermont Canyon road. And I absolutely love astronomy and stargazing in general. But I really want to explore more. Amir's Garden will be my next exploration destination I think ^^ Thanks for the tour! <3
Anyone wanting to fly a drone there, be careful. I was doing just that when a park ranger came up and told me it was illegal because it's a national park. I was questioned, my license checked and eventually sent on my way. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0n04lIG1CiM.html
My grandma used to tell us stories of having to back her Model T up the section of the One Highway in Torrey Pines because reverse was a lower gear than first or even “granny”! Love the video, thanks for sharing the location!
"Under cover of nightfall, four gorilla artists". The image of four gorillas sneaking out of Lincoln Park Zoo, walking down to Burnham Park and carving this, just can't be put aside.
Used to work downtown; drove Lower Wacker frequently as part of the job. One thing you two didn't discuss were all those wrought-iron railings. Those were installed during the early 2000s, I believe. Prior to that, the area was a haven for Chicago's homeless population--all those nooks and crannies made it possible for someone sleeping rough to have a fairly secure cardboard box with a bunch of accumulated possessions--blankets and spare clothing, mostly--inside; there was a general code that had those folks keep to themselves, not create trouble, and in exchange they were left alone. Then along came Richard M. Daley, who really, really wanted Chicago to be neat and clean and pristine, so he ordered all those Lower Wacker condos to be taken down and tossed out by the cops, and then they built the rail fences to keep them from coming back. This was very successful, which is why in the brave new world of 2024 Chicago, you constantly run into the homeless in parks, parking lots, and other spots where they can make a pitch for some spare change.
I want to see a city under the city episode. If you take that middle junction (the unmarked door) it leads to an elevator that goes down 11 floors. Begin your journey there.
I thought I heard the male host say "Oakwood Park" right at the end of the video, which he may or may not have because this sculpture currently resides at Oakwood *Beach,* which is at 41st St. Apparently the four guerilla artists were Román Villareal, Jose Moreno, Fred Arroyo, and Edfu Kingigna, so praise their names.
The snake used to be a swing that kids could play on. Most of the cool play slides have been removed. There is a picture of me hanging from the snakes tongue when I was about 6 years old. Had a lot of fun there as a kid. Too bad they have ruined the park by removimg all the cool stuff, and that repulsuve artwork is just another way of showing the bad use of tax payer money.
My mother's parents came out to settle and farm in Imperial Valley on that road, from Missouri, in the 1920s. Gramps actually came out first to work and earn his starting stake, then go back home and bring out his bride. His name is still on one of the Valley roads, as a pioneer of Imperial Valley. Grandma painted a painting of their car coming across the road, from that memory.
I lived and worked on the base from 85-91. First at Ft. Sam Houston bank, then the NAF office, NCO club and O club. My husband was assigned to the 27 TASS, OV-10 squadron. I have very fond memories of George. My name at the time was Karen Crowell. If anyone is aware of any lawsuits being pursued due to illnesses as a result of the massive contamination, please let me know. My neighbor on Utah died from brain cancer 😢
On lower lower wacker street racing had been going on long before 2010, its out of the way and there is no public to endanger so the cops mostly left us alone, then comes gen z and their obsession with filming and sharing everything and bringing as much attention to themselves as possible (loud exhaust but no performance benefit, driving like idiots, being dangerous) and the city was forced to respond by cracking down on the car meets and then putting in the speed humps and speed tables. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
Did you document every homeless person, too? That would be even more useful. They pop out at you if you don't know where they are. It's like a Dark Souls level down there.
The 'troughs' you thought was for water, is really a grain trough for cows to use while being milked. They are very happy eating grain while being milked! I grew up on a dairy!
