Hey! I'm MattyO and welcome to the only place on the internet where you can hear my opinions for free. Seriously though, this is a commentary channel where I make videos on all the latest drama and just generally make videos about topics I enjoy. If there's something you'd like to hear me talk about, just reach out and I'll let you know. I try to respond to everyone that has a question! Also, if anyone goes above and beyond the RU-vid average to do something good for the site or the users, they might just become an official friend of the MattyO channel.
They prob did this now becouse the player count is dropping so they thought less people would be offended but the entirety of youtube is talking about it
@@MattyOYT Yea but that's not Nintendo, that's anyone You can't file a lawsuit if you can't provide some kind of proof or reasonable suspicion beforehand and you also have to do the research before filing the lawsuit so that's probably what took so long
@@kotakoolergameplay mechanics are probably the one thing that’s the furthest away from pokemon tho lol. knowing that i don’t think nintendo can win this.
I will mention that Japanese law is different than American law when it comes to patents. Is is fair? I can't say as no-one has any idea what patents they are even suing for yet. I would wait and see before saying anything on it personally.
@MattyOYT No, it isn't since there's no consistency. Only physical property can be proven consistently. Intellectual property is almost all gray. Plus, a version of copyright patents is the reason insulin is expensive.
Well, they can't use "we own the concept of capturing monsters!" card because a lot of games both before and after them use that very concept; it's too broad. If they're going to claim "we own the concept of capturing monsters with balls!" and Pocket Pair can't beat that, they'll probably just come up with a different way to capture Pals. Since people have already called Pal World "Pokemon with guns" both as a pejorative and as a term of endearment, I say Pocket Pair go all in and invent the concept of capturing Pals with bullets, ha.
Yeah, I suspect that changing the catching mechanics, if anything, is what'll happen. However, I think this case will probably take multiple years - so who knows maybe they'll all get bored and settle before then.
@MattyOYT don't rip off ideas if you don't want them to come after you for it idk seems pretty straight forward but it is shitty in a way big pokemon has made billions already time to share the love but they just aren't forced to
No it just flat-out is not. Kissing corporate ass isn't going to get you anything. No company should have the right to sue another for creating a similar product. It's anti-competitive in the purest form.
Tbf Nintendo has had the patent for the entire pokeball animation and mechanics since Legends came out long before palworld launched so they will fs win. However I don't think a gaming company should be able to own game mechanics, characters absolutely but mechanics no.
Yeah but doesn't almost every monster catching game have a "pokeball" mechanic? Or do you mean the specific animation n all that? Like the real time throwing
@@MattyOYT unfortunately legends came out in January and Palworld was announced in June the patent if I remember correctly was filed January 1st. And for everyone else The Pokemon Company owns the entire idea of throwing an object "not specifically a ball" to either release a creature and/or catch a creature. Legally this is what's called a killer patent meaning it's not up for debate that it was violated. The only way Palworld has a chance is to argue the patent itself and hope a Judge agrees to void the patent.
Hey! Thanks for watching! Remember to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE, if you enjoyed the video! What do you guys think? Will Nintendo win? Should Nintendo have done this? Will this make fans sour on Nintendo?
If they win I’m going to be so pissed. Palworld is really fun, and I never thought about Pokémon as I was playing it. I knew it was heavily inspired but I just enjoyed the survival aspect with a bunch of helpers to make efficient automatic farms.
Yeah lol, unfortunately the clip was like that when I downloaded it. idk why but it just decided to unsync by like a second and no matter what I tried it would just keep desyncing - I think it might be cursed but idk for sure
"Traditionally attractive." Your great great grandfather after a hard day's work of plowing the field traveled into town for fertilizer and peyote, and took a liking to the local saloon's K-pop model
@@MattyOYT honestly I think the "wokeness" thing is often more of a creative issue/consumer issue. Like the X-Men had a lot of characters that could be considered woke, but they still did it in a way that was appealing. Personally I never cared if a game was woke, mostly because it's mostly just either RimWorld or VR boxing game for me
@@MattyOYT as an trans person, i personally don't see an issue with adding "she/her" to a characters bio, or something along the lines. I have an issue when they only put lgbt stuff in for money
