This scene is a lot deeper than people realize. On one hand, this is one of the rare times when Frank is actually, legitimately right about something. He tells Fiona off not for the act of drinking, but for the bad habits and behaviors she exhibits *while* drinking. On the other hand, because this is Frank Gallagher we're talking about, the many deranged decisions and monumental mistakes he's made while drunk (and in pursuit of alcohol in general) loom over the conversation even as he's making his point. And by the end of it, the speech has looped around to him justifying his own rampant alcoholism, demonstrating unintentionally that he's still a narcissist even when he's giving legitimate advice to people.
How's reality when she loses her egotistical smile when she sees that frank was right and she is exactly what she has hated all her life. Lil frank the thot jr.
Often things like this happen in sobriety it suck but honestly if he relapsed he already made that decision before Fiona waved vodka in his face an no it isn’t her fault not one bit no matter how fucked up it seems. It only works if you work it
People saying “Fiona became frank” , absolutely not. Fiona selflessly had that family together the best she could, had shitty parents and ungrateful siblings her entire life. It was absolutely NOT Fiona’s fault for Jason’s sobriety. Any true addict or alcoholic will tell you that for a fact.
Why did they put sappy music over the part that literally shows one of the kids in jail or prison? She must not have done too good a job if one of them is in prison.
I love how Frank is like "Wait...why is my 10 year old son walking around with a kni...gah, whatever!" I like the fact that his father instinct kicked in for a second!
I’m going thru this right now… in fact my very first AA meeting is tomorrow. My own brother is the one who encouraged and pressured me to get help, and he too has struggled with addiction. He’s my Lip. This scene hits hard.
