Very sad scene. I don’t fully agree with how they rushed Fiona off the show but I’m thankful for the joy she has brought the Shameless fans. Comment your favorite Fiona characteristic Like share and subscribe. THANK YOU ALL
She waited since the very first episode for him to say that to her. Those exact words. And now that he'd finally said it, I bet she feels complete. That her mission was complete
@@14kekkaishi1 This comment made me sad thinking about that particular scene. In that exact moment you can see that she truly loves her dad and wants him to appreciate everything she's done even though he's a fuck up and puts them all through hell
I don’t see this as Fiona finally feeling complete. I think she accepted the truth about the family situation a long time ago, and his words only justified all the time and energy she spent keeping the family afloat. His words justified her walking out and finally starting her own life.
Frank really did appreciate Fiona, Because actually defended her and told Lip to appreciate everything she’s done for them way before she even thought about leaving
Frank was a narcissistic drunk. Various times in every episode they show him being manipulative. Him defending Fiona was onky because Fiona was drunk and partnering up with him to scam people. Hes nice when youre on his side and giving him what he wants. If it were sober Fiona he wouldn't have defended her.
@@trillxfizzy In a way, I do think that Frank sort of meant it though. Even though he's manipulative and fake, Lip was being a dick to Fiona in the last few episodes before she left and I was satisfied when Frank put him in his place
@@trillxfizzyyou know damn well frank has his good traits regardless of what’s he’s done. if you’ve truly watched all seasons you know he has it in him to care. quit picking something to argue about.
Steve was obviously written as one of her mistakes. He was a narcissistic sociopath like her father. Did some fucked up shit to Fiona over and over again. Aint no tellin what his real name even is.
@@thomasmick9884 this was season 2 I believe. When frank got his transplant in the actual hospital, he was high asf off the drugs he was given && he thought a little girl in the next bed (who was waiting for her surgery) was little Fiona so he thought he was talking to Fiona. He said he was sorry for being a shit father and he loved her. When he woke up again tho, the actual girl passed away ): she didn’t make it I can still cry ab it
He definitely did love her. He mentioned her a couple times in Season 11 during his confused state (ironically he’s the only one that did) and he even went to Patsy’s after he overdosed and made his dementia worse. He even thought about her while he was in the hospital when we got those flashback glimpses.
I know everybody says shamless went to shit after Fiona left but as someone who comes from a dysfunctional family this scene was everything it needed to be. Sometimes we don't get to say all our goodbyes or take anyone with us. Sometimes the only thing memorable about it is you finally being able to walk away.
For me Shameless went to shit when the producers and writers changed. I remember a season ending with Monica’s name in graffiti being written on the wall. The entire vibe of the show was different/off from there on.
I felt the same way. I was glad Fiona left and didn’t say goodbye to anyone. In her own way, this was her closure and not looking back and I was happy for her. I half watched the rest of the seasons because she was no longer on the show and it just wasn’t the same. Wherever Fiona ended up, I hope she was doing better and was happier.
For those who thought Frank wasn’t appreciative: - he was appreciative. Look at his eyes when she left, he was on the verge of crying. He had tears in his eyes. He was definitely very sad - someone on reddit pointed this out: deep down he always appreciated Fiona for everything, but when he said “well if it helps you sleep” , it was like a final push for her to leave. He wanted Fiona to go on and do better things, to finally leave and have her own life - Fiona’s face at 0:37 was one of fondness and a bit of love. I think she knew what Frank was trying to say, but well we know what Frank is like. His little jab was his way of showing love towards Fiona. Good acting by Emmy and William. Didn’t have much but there was a lot of positive emotions in that exchange.
And also notice how he never looks at her, I think it’s because he was ashamed, now she was finally leaving the world of shit him and Monica left her, through it all and she did a great job fixing and building it, now at the end, how could he even be worthy to look at her before she leaves for good? He knew, she was great, and the only thing he could ever give her was this small little moment because he wasn’t worthy to even congratulate her because it was all her, he never helped. So this was it, a shitty ass father giving the only good thing he could, a small moment of appreciation.
Also the expression on his face when Fiona was drunk ranting at everyone at the bar after the blackout. He knew she was becoming like him, and it broke his heart.
I don't think Shameless can go on without Fiona(Emmy). She is such an amazing convincing actress. We can only hope Emmy comes back for an episode in probably this last season. My favorite show. So sad....I love how she looked at the house and neighborhood ,the way she did ,when she left. You could see the love and memories in her face. I'll miss her.
In the UK version of shameless Fiona comes back in the series finale. She attempts to kidnap her 2 younger siblings with lip's help. They give the children back when Frank admits that he wants to change and is finally ready to be a father. It's a very emotional and happy ending
@@trillxfizzy The case of the little girl really confirms that Frank loves his family. At that moment, he didn't know where he was or what was going on, but he remembered how much he loved Fiona and apologized. If it was a boy and not a girl, he would think it was one of his sons and would also start apologizing for something. Yes, he is a narcissist, but deep down he loves his children. There are only a couple of moments in the show where this is clearly visible.
What could frank say in this scene. He's done too much to be the worried father. She took care of the family her entire life so he definitely doesn't need to tell to take care of herself. He said exactly what he needed so she wouldn't look back. She was leaving and going off to do great things. Like he said he doubts he'd see her around because for once, she was going to be her life for her and that's alright with him.
Yeah I wonder what was it that made him even say anything. I know hes nothing but a narcissist. But it was half way believable that he was sorry and felt like his daughter deserved to a thank you. Hes aware that she did a good job raising her siblings.
Reyshawnta Brown that was the old frank the drunk frank from season 1-3 but after he got the new liver he was never drunk again sure he’s still a drag but he’s not the same he better
This scene had me bawling. The actor who plays Frank - such good acting! The small nuances and emotions in his eyes. So much unsaid but said without words.
The actress played his daughter for 9-10 years, and he got to see her and the other kids grow up, you can tell that he was emotional acting this scene out.
“In my experience, fathers cause pain. Whether by their presence or their absence, there’s a certain kind of ruin that only a father can leave behind.” - Klaus Mikaelson
Emmy did say she might return but she said she’s the girl next door that will just sit back and watch until it’s her time to come back , but I think Fiona had a good run she did everything for them now it’s time for her to do her
❤ I feel her hurt, I feel her pain! She deserves her chance to follow her dreams, she's been raising her sibs her whole life due to absent parents, friends, family and just filled her role and did it all in the name of love #warrior
William Macy did such a great job with this scene when you think about the dialogue. Because, really the words, seem callous and indifferent, but his facial expressions... Pain, love, appreciation, regret....... All from a man too selfish on the surface, and too stubborn to be the type to end things with a hug or an "I Love You"... But he kinda did it metaphorically, it's just the hug had a subtle push beneath it. He was happy to see Fiona move on to better things, and making a life for herself after basically playing the sister parent her whole life, but part of him is jealous that he could never really fill that role. Great characters.
Hes a true narcissist. I love the writing on this show. So much depth. The tears in his eyes cause he never fathomed her actually leaving someday. In his own narcissistic way that was the best compliment he could ever give her.
You can see it in his face that he’s sad she is leaving. Fiona was always Frank’s favorite child and I think it’s pretty obvious. The way he sees only her in hospitals when he’s delirious, once with the little girl and again when he is dying.
She deserved to win the Emmy for her performance on Shameless. She's a mom now and happy in life. She is talented. Emmy Rossum will continue to create memorable performances.
He grew up cold, he lived cold, he always cared but always felt like it's was to late for him. He loved Fiona, but was scared to show it feeling that he had done her to wrong to ever get her live back. A father first child let alone a daughter will forever be his pride and joy
You know people shit on season 9 but the latter half of that season almost brought me to tears several times. This scene was one of those times. You go Fiona..! You've done so much for everyone else, you deserve this..!
I have cried so many times watching Shameless but believe me when i say this scene just broke my heart...i just couldn't stop crying and my chest felt heavy...i really hope Fiona gets what she deserves, she is not perfect but she has try really hard to get her life together and she has done SO MUCH for her family, whish nothing but the best for her 💜
I think it’s sweet they sent her off in her outfit from season 1, it’s a cute callback too. In the first season she wears them ill-fitting & when she leaves they finally fit her properly. Shows her growth. 🩵
So glad she’s gone. I hope the rest of the family all collapse now. She was the only reason I watched the show and am so glad the character will be doing better things than watching over her unappreciative family
Fiona’s exit could have been better, but this scene is still excellent. Having a narcissist of a father actually (partly) showing gratitude to his oldest daughter before she leaves him was great. Hell, this is what Fiona wanted from him since the very beginning. And now, she can leave with her heart full, ready for new beginnings
I remember how she didn’t say goodbye to Kev and V and being really upset about it! But then I remembered that scene in GoodWill Hunting when just leaving can be the best thing you can do sometimes... sad but happens!
This is how I said goodbye to my parents. I haven't spoken to them in 6 years. And I never will. Thanks for the good looks and the wisdom. I can take it from here. Life can be happy now because it will be MY life. :-)
After 9 years the writers should have given Fiona a better reason for leaving. Something like she had a great job opportunity out of state or she was running off to be with Jimmy/Steve. But to leave because things were not going her way makes no sense. The strongest thing about the Gallaghers was there strength as a family. But to go off to be alone, no job , nothing, makes no sense to me. Plus what about Liam? She cried in front of the judge begging to be her siblings legal guardian but she walks out on Liam? Can't she get in legal trouble for that? Shameless is just not as good as it used to be.
I always thought Steve would be on the plane or call her I would be happier if that happend we don't know where she is but she deserved to leave and had another chance
@@munchbear7132 That s another thing I don't get. Why leave a paying job? Most of us feel we are underpaid and things are not going as we would like but we don't quit. And actors never know when they will get another Job, none of us do.
Personally I thought this was the most perfect ending Fiona could’ve gotten, the whole point was for her to leave and to not look back because if she did she would’ve had trouble leaving
Frank is a supreme narcissist,it’s very hard to express genuine thanks,so this is franks of way of saying thanks to Fiona.. I hope the show remains the same...
Such a shame they wrote Fiona out instead of Debbie. But behind the scenes Emmy wanted to be paid the same amount as William but they said no. So she decided to leave. The show became less when she left, in my opinion.
If you think about it, the kids are grown and they don’t necessarily need a parental figure any more well except Liam maybe but he’ll be fine with Lip. Debbie is a spoiled entitled brat in my opinion who needs to step up with her responsibilities and stop relying on Fiona for everything. I’m sad Emmy wasn’t around any longer but glad that Fiona finally did something for herself
i can finally watch this scene without it being a spoiler cause i watched fionas last episode today, i wanted to cry but i couldn't but this really was sad
debbie didnt even let Fiona using the water without paying for it, but Fiona still gave them the half of the only money she had while leaving. She was the best big sister and never got appreciated enough.
Kinda came full circle at this moment for Fiona. Frank finally acknowledged the hard work she put into the family and how much she sacrificed. But I sort of feel in Fiona's mind at this moment she was thinking "I finally got your validation and to be honest I don't need it because I know I did a great job."
This scene made me so sad I know Frank was sad and would miss her daughter. I know he probably thought it would be too late to start being nice to her now, because if he did maybe she’d stay but he wants her to go, because she deserves to. I was kinda sad she didnt have final words for V and Kev but I know theyre like the biggest anchors for her and she wouldnt be able to leave if she talked to the for the last time.
