I think that BMW and Honda make the Best Boxer style Engines Ever! Milo is a Handsome Feller and of course you have seen my 8 month old "Cookie" She is Spoiled beyond belief! And the "Jump off"! Okay "G"
I must say that Honda's flat six boxer I rode on the Goldwing is smoother than BMW's by far. That might be a compromise of sorts in that BMW's power plant is more DYNAMIC. Both incredible engines.
German Shepherd and stock windshield on my GSA. Just got back from a 4 day ride to the Dragon etc - 400 mile ride to get there, 2 days of 275 miles of mountain roads, and 400 miles back home. Except for the brick of a seat, it's a great touring bike with performance. I get a kick out of you posting links to your YT on the Goldwing FB groups and some of their comments - you're not going to get any love out of those guys. They're too busy trying to convince the world (and really, themselves) that they bought the best touring bike and nothing else is capable 😂😂😂
@@GBeWinginIt I had one too - Tour DCT. It’s a great bike, but it’s not the only bike. But they will all tell you how they left HD, BMW, Indian etc and now nothing else compares 😂. Until they get the ‘five snowflakes of death’ 😂😂 Even then, it’s still the best!! Keep stirring the pot and posting your links there!
One thing that made me trade my 2022 DCT Goldwing for a 2024 Option 719 Tramuntana was the Honda's terrible suspension. This BMW bike is phenomenal! I love it!
GBW good video as usual. I run stock windshield although I did add to it. Only issue I have with my GSA is that the new one is out. So I'm hoping to grab a new left over 2024 GSA next year on the cheap

I can certainly understand how another motorcyclist could dislike the boxer motor. The feel as compared to an inline bike, the sound, the protruding cylinders , etc.
@@GBeWinginIt Yeah, I'm actually not a fan of how far the engine sticks out on both sides... but I've never ridden one, so I reserve judgement for then :D
This is a great, timely video. Just got back yesterday from an 8.5 hour over 2 day ride from Dallas around Houston and back on my KTM 1290 super adventure S and I am hurting!… made me think to consider a new goldwing. I had the previous model to ride two-up and hated it! It was so heavy. But the new lighter DCT ones sound interesting. I need comfort… I have owned a 1200 GSA and 1250 GSA and 1200 RT… question for you: after the goldwing DCT, did you consider an africa twin DCT? My body is messed up from the military. In my mind the GSA was ok comfort, RT a lot better. I hear the africa twin is not as great comfort as GSA. But to your point, I like ADVs. thanks for your thoughts!
@@GBeWinginIt thanks for the response and the video. Interesting that with the additions to the ATAS, it would still be about $6k less cost than the GSA. I do see the value in the tank, shaft drive, and comfort package.
@@dpinedoblog Absolutely! It's a premium riding experience and while the shaft drive, tank and overall comfort trump the ATAS by a long shot, it's the cleaner controls and TFT interface that puts it way over the top for me. The stock suspension alone covers the difference and if you consider the long haul, two up power difference well it's in a different league.
I liked the goldwing until i rode one at low speed. It may be a good touring bike but no comparison to an HD soft tail at low speed. To be fair, that was an old dyna no windshield. Had that been a new Road Glide, you wouldn't have went by him like that.
You are correct. Not unlike yourself I love them all. All bikes are good. Turns out I see this motorcyclist regularly and have formed an on road bond of sorts.
Good Morning G, as always good topic and good discussion. If I'm on a group ride I tend to stick to the group concept and ride the pace unless during the briefing it's known that everyone knows where there going so ride your ride. If it's a new destination and/or there are new riders in the mix it will be a slower pace for sure.... but it's all good i just use this time for extra practice on things.
Yeah, I'm flexible too, I lead most rides but hate to just leave people behind or pressure slower riders, so I move about, straight boring roads I drop back and hang with the slower guys and the winding parts I move up. Main thing is that everyone knows the destination and where there might be stops, so no-one should feel pressured to keep up. I always ride my own ride. And I know - and let everyone in the group know up front - that I'm the slow rider. I prefer to get addresses for the destinations, and I'll meet them there if they want to go fast. That's not my jam. I generally don't like group rides though, especially if there are more than 10 bikes. I prefer the solo ride. Stop where I want, when I want, at my pace and my schedule.
Good topic. When I first started riding, I sought out group rides because I was eager to try and make some riding friends, but I have since soured to group rides in general - both on road and even more so off road. On asphalt, I rode with a group of 5 guys who would meet at a coffee shop, then head up to the Twisties near New Hope - but there was ALWAYS some delay or drama. One guy was constantly slow in getting going because he was more interested in hitting on married women at the coffee shop - another guy always needed gas or air - not serious about his bike maintenance. Guy who would lead the rides was constantly getting messed up by his GPS - I ended up being super aggravated instead of enjoying the ride. Off-Road - ideally I would like to find 1 or 2 dudes who ride very close to my level/style. If you ride with very new riders off road, they constantly dump their bikes or are hesitant and so you have to keep checking your mirrors for them which makes navigating sand and ruts even more challenging. If you are behind them, they will often go feet down, and stumble or stop suddenly out of fear, which makes it dangerous to avoid them. Advanced riders tend to leave you in the dust or take extremely challenging lines - so they can be tough to ride with as well. So in both enviroments I have remained a Lone Wolfer and figure I am better off that way. I do miss the opportunity for riding comraderie, but so far I have not connected with guys in the same riding frame of mind...
Certainly appreciate you sharing your moto experience, Not unlike yourself i identify myself as a lone wolfer and love the occasional meetup to enjoy the back and forth, camaraderie, etc. but prefer to go my own pace. The older I get the more important "THE INNER PEACE" is protected. Especially with regards to things I love like motorcycling.
I have a 2018 Goldwing, 2019R1250RT , and 2023 E1250GS.. after a short 280 Mile Ride on Goldwing its for Sale.. just heavy ..not quick next to BMW.... Great Video
"G" You and that "Jump Off"!!! I love the stance of that bike. With that 8 Gallon tank and 600lbs that's perfect for Touring, it's lighter but not to lite where it won't get pushed around on Interstates. While I am still keeping my Honda F6B, in the near Feature I will be getting a Suzuki V-Strom 1050 Road Edition. Hey man I enjoyed the Ride and always your Thoughts! Be Well My Brother.
@@GBeWinginIt you should look up the Gold Coast its in Queensland Australia it’s beautiful and on the ocean and the there are so many off road tracks and beautiful roads you would love riding around

I agree. I have a Wing but a couple of ADV bikes along the way and I have like the riding position over the Wing. I’m currently looking at an F 750 GS since it is more inline with my short inseam. I have had both an Africa Twin and VStrom and the height of both wasn’t really for me. You are definitely right about the luggage options, so much more capacity for touring on an ADV bike with good luggage.
I currently have a Harley and have owned several Harleys. I have always wanted a Goldwing but unfortunately my wife hates them 😂 I think I am about ready to just pull the trigger and get a Wing hopefully my wife will ride it but if not at least I’ll still have my Harley 😂
I Loved this Vlog! As you know I have A Touring Bike and am thinking about the 2024/25 Suzuki V-Strom 1050. That's why I wanted that style of Bike was for it's Versatility to make it the Bike you needed it to be for that Ride. Thanks G!

Honda needs to send you a big check. You do more to explain & show how the DCT actually works than Honda has. Thank you. Now for the first time ever I’m actually considering a DCT.
If the Connected ride app is running on the phone display will the wonder wheel still control the app now the cradle module is removed. Cant find any video of the connected ride app but navidated by the wonderwheel with the cradle removed. Am thinking to remove the small scetion of Nav Prep and place under the plastic to retain the wonder wheel function with the app. I understand the bike TFT with the wonder wheels still works. Cheers in advance
Great question! I stopped using the connected ride app because it would drop my music and nav connections running on my iphone when in use via the wonder wheel. What a hassle it was. I do not miss it and hope that BMW's future navigation integrated with CarPlay.
I'm going to test ride a 24 GSA this weekend. Hope it will be good for two up long distance touring. Started with a 17 Goldwing, traded for a 22 Goldwing then traded it for a 23 RT. I feel cramped on the RT hope the GSA will have more room.
The GSA will certainly have more room. Enjoy that test ride. I’m coming off a Goldwing DCT TOUR AIRBAG and I do not miss it at all. There are compromises to be made all around but as a complete package I’m satisfied.
