Adventure vs touring motorcycles. I list major differences between my adventure and touring motorcycle riding experiences. Is one better than the other? Which one should you choose?

I was wondering when you'd come out with this video Gil. Thank you for that. When I traded in my 2012 Road King Classic earlier this year for a new touring bike the Gold Wing was one of the obvious choices for me. The BMW 1600 GTL was another as well as staying with Harley Davidson. The adventure bike class wasn't on my radar at the time. I opted to stay with Harley and purchased the Road Glide Limited, I just didn't like the fact that with the Gold Wing I didn't have a fuel tank between my legs feel. Too much plastic I guess. I'm very happy with my new scooter but often wonder how it'd be with that #1 selling BMW adventure bike between my legs. So, I look forward to your videos for your experiences on your new bike. Keep em coming!!

Thanks for watching and commenting. I found the massive amounts of plastics on my Wing overwhelming and do not miss it aesthetically. Though it ran like nothing else.

I couldn’t decide, so I have both! 2010 Honda Goldwing, and a 2012 Suzuki VStrom!!

Man, I use my road bikes a lot and on an equal measure annually. In the winter I ride more often the BMW 1250 RT and in the summer, more the BMW R 1250 GSA. The same engine, different pleasures 👌🏻

I love the legroom we get with the BMW. I can ride much longer, and I'm able to get off the bike after several hours and actually do things. I, too, miss the touring fairing, but I told myself I'd just get an older Goldwing to add to the collection if I really wanted one. One thing I can't see myself giving up is the fuel range. I love being able to pass gas stations while out on rides, and as you said, it certainly gives you extra wind protection. Love the fact that I can tour long distances and still ride in a spirited fashion when I'm ready. Enjoy the time off Gil. Glad you have free time during the summertime!

I think I’m done with full on tourers. To much compromise And looking to go lighter as I age.

@@GBeWinginIt I feel you, Gil. I know it's on the opposite side of the spectrum, but when I was working on my KTM 500 over the weekend, I was rolling it out of the garage and was reminded of how much I love how light the thing is. Unless it's carrying a lot of fuel, my next few bikes will be under 500 pounds. I know that might be tough for a lot of folks, but as of right now, I feel like that's my path forward. Thanks for posting Gil, and ride safe my friend.

I sold my 2016 gsa for a 2018 k1600b. That lasted 6 months before I purchased a new gsa. Once you ride a gsa there is no going back. You just have to ride one to understand. Your video was perfect.

I’m on my Third GSA dating back to 2006 when I purchased my first one. So many motorcycles in between but I find myself going back to the big girl.

Touring it is! I don't adventure, but I carry lots of stuff, so the touring bike is my way to go :D

Aaaugh! The kitchen sink! You forgot the kitchen sink 😂 best to hook up a trailer and bring it. Let’s not forget what we’re on. MOTORCYCLES. Two wheels and a motor.

@GBeWinginIt Well, that's taking it to extremes. I mean I like using the tour pack and saddle bags! You know, my 47 cameras take up space! ;)

I’m in the middle of an extended ride between my Wing and my Africa Twin. I considered the BMW GSA, however price won out with the AT. I really miss my v-twins which started with a Honda Shadow, and ended with A Harley Lowrider. The Wing may be up for trade on an Indian Springfield. Safe Rides!

I’m fighting myself between keeping my R1200RT and buying a GSA…….love to hear any comments in someone switching between the two bikes.
@GBeWinginIt
@GBeWinginIt Год назад
I went with the GSA and sold my touring bike because of the versatility. At 6'1 with a 33 inch inseam this bike is as comfortable for the long haul with the seat in the high position. Good luck with your choice.
@MWS1960
@MWS1960 Год назад
@@GBeWinginIt I’m 5’11” and a 30 inch inseam. The RT had bar riser and a lowering peg kit as the previous owner was 6’2”…. It sits like GSA, but I do love the utilitarian look of the GSA 👍

I'm lucky enough to have 21 Africa Twin and a 22 Goldwing. For long trips or two up I prefer the Goldwing. I love the Africa Twin for commuting and solo trips but the seat is horrible. Would love to test ride a GS and maybe trade up.
@GBeWinginIt
@GBeWinginIt Год назад
All bikes are a compromised and I’ve yet to find another motorcycle that rivals the all out comfort and smoothness of a Goldwing. However for now this GSA has been a revelation.

I second that the stock seat on the 21 AT is horrible. Glad you have a few bikes to choose from!

If you think a stock AT seat is horrible the GS/GSA ones are same or worse. The BMW not a trade up IMO.

Dont care for tourer and adv tourer. Sport tourer fills the gaps that both tourer and adv lack for pavement riding. H2SX or 1000SX or 1000gt are lighter and more fun for sub 500 miles days. And the concours 14abs is for over 500miles day.
@GBeWinginIt

Always had Kawi 1000SX on my radar but their failure to drop the Ninja name made the purchase of reasonable insurance impossible. Really shameful because those ergonomics fit me best.
