We do all things Brompton! From Adventure to Modifications. So come and explore...

The channel was established on September 2023 as I felt there was a lack of information around Bromptons when I looked to purchase my first used Brompton. Since then I've published lots of videos and hope certain gaps and questions have started to be answered.

We ride in all terrains and conditions and have a Brompton made for each one! Our M line to tackle all things off road and our P line to take on the toughest of challenges.

I'm just your average rider like most my viewers and love to share my honest opinion with the videos I make, my aim is to own all the different Brompton lines to draw the most fairest of comparisons

We attempted to post once a week on Wednesday at 2pm

If you enjoy what we do please consider supporting us on the link below (Buy Me A Coffee)

Thanks for reading and see you in the comments

How does doing your own service work invalidate your warranty? It's not an aircraft, it's s bike. Changing brake pads, seats, grips, tires, chains, etc. is all part of owning a bike.

What’s the fuss? Don’t you just buy the cheaper Brompton, get an upgrade kit replacing rear triangle, fork and rims/ wheel and change gear set to Shimano external or 11 speed internal, add disk brakes hydraulic and add a dual chain ring with or without derailleurs. You get a better lighter bike. Save the replaced parts or sell to minimize costs you’ll be converting these to carbon.

I wondered if the weight of the rim (205g) should more be compared to the Brompton rims only (all ranging 300g - 320g) and not the full wheel set which would include the spokes etc. ?

I had a 3 speed C line for 4 years before I past it down to my daughter. Served me well as a tucker. Fit right in the footwell of my passenger seat. If I were to buy another it would be a 6 speed. My only beef with Brompton is the proprietary parts unfamiliar with most bicycle mechanics. Other than that, great product.

I wish Bromptons have a frame-only DIY offering. I’ve never been satisfied with the stock drivetrains or the plastic fantastic shifters. I converted my Superlight to an external 5 speed w/ H&H 7 speed derailleur. Throwing a Shimano 105 CS-HG700 cassette and a HG DuraAce chain made the shifting so smooth with a non-indexed friction shifter.

I kept my Superlight and decided to change my wheels to an external cog 5 speed (with the intention of upgrading 7 in the future). I got so sick of the plastic fantastic shifter, I ripped them off and replaced them with trusty friction shifters. Yeah there’s no indexing, but the micro-clicks are so satisfying. I waded in and bought a P line on EBay a month ago. It is pretty much new, yet I paid 70% of the retail price - yep, I’ve had it away with the fairies, it is a peach. The only discernible downside is: I wish I’d done it earlier! My notable faults have been a slipping seat post, which I sorted quickly and the usual gear reindexing. A1 other than that. I am more into sturdiness, and make my bike heavier these days (just got beefy folding pedals). One thing I have to say though. The perfect cockpit is not the GP2 - It's GP1s in combination with SQLabs inner bar ends. I run this setup on two bromptons - one has an awesome wider John Kuosac bar with back sweep. You can reach the brakes when you are on the "hoods" I am soo happy. The perfect cockpit for me anyways

My old, 2019, 6 speed Superlight has now a Selle Italia, slightly padded, superlight carbon saddle and a titanium, standard shape, black seat post. I had a Carbon Post but it wasn't equaI diameter along its length, so I changed it again. I have also changed much of my standard type brakes to quite similar looking titanium parts. But I have changed the clamps on my mudguards to Carbon and Alu, as they are definitely made from "Heavy Metal" from the Factory, and it gives a difference! On the other hand I have added a Dutch: "Bromptonian" Clamp to the mudguards end, not to damage it during folds or handling! "Bromptonian" specializes in repair- and strengthening parts for a Brompton, as he also makes a terrain model, triple folder for heavy duty use (Without any connection to British Brompton!). As I don't use my bike that much I have kept the standard folding pedal (not to be lost!) but with a titanium center bolt. I don't like to be able to loose a pedal as I did at a time with the - one bolt for the folding hinge in the growth of a wood (I now has nice black wheels with a security bolt in the end, preventing they are to be taken out and - lost, as the original models may easily be totally removed)! On the other hand, my bike is a Brompton so I have two grips made from - leather with a security ring in each end, and a nice "Brompton" printed on them, with large friendly letters, as in "The Hitchhikers Guide" (Don't Panic!). On the Titanium frame - I have owned two Tiatanium framed bikes and both frames cracked on the down tube. Titanium may be lighter but in my experience, it cracks easilly and more alarming, it can do it with no prior warning. Stick to steel on a Brompton, mine hasn't cracked and being a time triallist, it has had a lot of power put through it. The other thing is, when you are doing a piece to camera, stand still. It is very annoying watching a talking human pendulum.

I had a really bad warranty experience with Brompton recently. Had persistent shifting problems since when I bought it and the (steel) rear triangle by the chain pusher failed totally 9 months after I bought it. There was a braze that hadn't been done properly at all... Brompton were very unhelpful. They said it would take them 6-9 weeks to fix and they would only replace it with a rear triangle in a different colour to the rest of the bike... This was in the UK. Really upset with the service. They were totally unapologetic

Why would you even think dismantling your bike BEFORE Brompton could inspect it was the right thing to do? Basically you are saying to them "Accept what I have told you is the truth and actually the cause. This is how I want you to repair my bike!". Really??? If you want something repaired by some one else under warranty then DON'T do anything to it. Your error, not Brompton's. You should have just sent them your bike in the condition it was in when it failed. End of. Given you did dismantle your bike prior to them receiving it, they were pretty generous to still repair it and do all the extra work you said they did. I can't but help feel that titanium is not as strong as steel. Given you admit you ride your Brompton hard, maybe you would be better off with an all steel Brompton frame rather than their titanium one. Just a thought.

I can’t understand why you would expect Brompton to send you just the parts? They have no idea of individual owners skill set in being able to replace major parts, when they promote their bikes to people, who don’t even wear cycling clothing. I’m pleased you received a fantastic resolution from Brompton for this catastrophic failure. The majority of Brompton owners don’t have or want your skills would expect to send the whole bike bike, rightly thinking that if this weld could fail, so could others.

I have just seen an American here: "I bike unfolded", Brian from Denver, also having a failure on his Brompton back-triangle, but in this case a triangle tube was broken. And as he hadn't wasted his time for obtaining a longer Warrenty, his claim became denied by Brompton. And from his own films he is also a hard riding man, also using it for long rides to work and vacations with a "Chubby Trailer". But I have also lately seen a man riding his Brompton and making jumps on his bike from high positions and I would never try - anything like that! My Brompton is the old type (2019) with the near impossible exchange of the hinge for the triangle, with a lot of work and drilling, so I do hope it last my time, as soon to be 77! Finn. Denmark
