They did a great job. Really appreciate how they did not forget about the pedestrians who are a challenge to manage in such a large intersection like this. The second guy handled it like a pro when he confidently took control and gave the stop signal to traffic in all directions in order to let everyone walk. Where I live we have equally big crossing points. One day the lights were out but fortunately the cops were prepared just like these guys. We were all waiting patiently on the corner when the officer in position at the center of the intersection raised both of his white-gloved hands in unison, rotated his body in a circle, and gave a long blast on his whistle, stopping all the traffic from both cross streets to let us walk. Normally the walking phase lasts about 25 seconds so in this case once about 15 seconds had passed, the officer used a verbal command by shouting “STOP CROSSING” to the pedestrians while raising the arms again in the universal halt gesture. Fortunately I had just finished making my way to the other side! Ever since then I’ve appreciated our cops more for what they do to keep us safe-but you always have to pay attention to them and obey their directions.
Yep and the rink itself is named after the sponsor “BrokerLink” this machine is no longer at the Bell Sensplex. It got relocated after the 2 new Zamboni’s with the Laser levels started being used .
