From what I understand most if not all of the locomotives and rolling stock were sold separately to other people in the hobby. not sure about the railroad.
Home sold for $1,795,000 in 2018. Off market, but Zillow estimate today is $738.560. That's quite a drop in value. Is Oregon real estate that bad today?
I feel bad for him. After spending all that money it didnt scratch the itch. You gotta build stuff like that yourself to truly love it. Toys wont do it as an adult unless you build them yourself. I can empathise with him. On a smaller scale. Pun intented!
I just checked Google Maps, the railroad remains, which is great. Hopefully there was a clause in the sale requiring future owners to maintain the line and the cars, which could of been one of the reasons it sat on the market for some time. I'm shocked a local winery didn't snatch it up as there are quite a few in that area. Or turning it into a garden railroad retreat. But likely zooned residential, but as close as it is to wineries, perhaps not.
Finally sold in 2018 according to the link in the description above. It was on the market a long time. I hope whoever bought it kept the railroad stuff and the seller didn't just give up trying to find the "right" buyer and ended up selling it to someone who just wanted the land for development.
At least one of the 3' gauge K-36's was sold, there's a video of it running down in New Zealand. Not sure about the rest. The guy (Tom Miller) clearly had a lot of money, wonder why he decided to part with all of this.

HOITY TOITY LAND! ("snobbish, haughty, condescending, disdainful, patronizing, snobby, conceited, proud, arrogant, supercilious, superior, imperious, above oneself, self-important, overweening, lordly, lofty..." all full of Chi-Chi boutiques and "cute little shops") Or as we like to call it, over here in the unincorporated part of town where all the working class people live: "Lake lost ego", "Fake lost ego", and the HISTORICALLY TRUE epithet: "LAKE NO NEGROES" given that LO had CITY ORDINANCES specifically prohibiting PEOPLE OF COLOR from taking up residence, or even being caught within in city limits after dark, on penalty of incarceration! Even as late as the early 1980s I would be stopped by Police "Officers" on my way to work (I look like and I am a Native American) and told, when I asked about it: "we don't see YOUR kind of people around here very much". And, oh, the "lake" used to be a large pond/swamp that Chinese iron foundry workers enlarged, with much back breaking, hand labor for water power for the iron works. As soon as rich people saw how beautiful the Lake was, and it's potential real estate value, they kicked the Chinese OUT to Oregon City. THOSE are the kind of people that live in this neck of the woods. (PS "KILLED OFF MOST OF THE NATIVES", owing your prosperity and living on land stolen from the people YOU KILLED, THE HISTORY OF AMERICA, a history of SHAME)
All of this can be yours for the low, low price of only seven hundred and fifty thousand million billion trillion quadrillion dollars! Hurry down today!
WOW!!!! I'd love it but it would be my luck on the first lap I'd go into the tunnel and I'd get tangled up in a spider web, jump from my seat and get run over...
Like the "NATIONAL TRUST" organisation in the U.K. This property should be bought by not just one person but by a large group of people or by the state or a national railroad museum. This major attraction has to survive for all generations in the future, as part of the U.S.A historical and national heritage. May its existence continue.
He must have made some bad financial decisions to have to get rid of it because you don't go to that length to make your property like that just to say ok I'm done I'm out of here. The too old to maintain excuse is not flying with me because when you have that kind of money you can pay someone to maintain it unless you don't have the finances anymore which is what I think.
I know people who know Tom and I've heard he's just lost interest. Money wasnt really the issue. His family made a fortune in the manufacturing industry.
@@scubarider1 Both thumbs up Robert. Some people can be so mean, nasty and judgemental about something they know absolutely nothing about. The property in its entirety is absolutely mesmorizing and something to be marveled and cherished, especially by the proud owners who put so much of thier everything into it. He has every right in the world to do back flips off that beautiful deck he sits on and enjoys, screaming to the world, "Look at what my wife and Ive done here, please come and enjoy it people. You rude jealous jerks out there shut up, give this couple the coudos and respect they deserve. Goid luck Tom and Sue with whatever you wish to happen with your property and the phenomenal chance your giving someone else with the same dreams and heartfelt passion and love to pick up and carry on something trully breath takingly and amazing for all to enjoy. I wish you two all the best in life that bestowes in your future endeavors and relax and enjoy life together. 2 Thumbs up and MAJOR COUDOS!!!!
I love how someone like you can so smartly question the activity of an old man but you eat the governments bullshit about terrorists and plagues and blacks deprivation all day long without a hiccup.
