I began a career in radio in 1980 and had the honor to interview Himan Brown (via telephone) and we talked for over 3 hours! (Unfortunately, those recordings were lost in a fire). He was the inspiration for what I am doing now, an homage to not only the Golden Age of Radio but CBSRMT itself, which I grew up listening to. Thank you for uploading this wonderful tribute to a great man of imagination!
I bought this album back in the late 60's after somehow hearing High County Caravan. I still have the album (as someone said below--a hidden gem) out in the garage among my old vinyls. I learned High Country Caravan on the guitar both finger and flat picking styles. What a wonderful song with lyrics that transcend time and mood. Just today I got my Taylor acoustic out and after listening to it a few times on-line, played it like I did 55 years ago. Damn, I'm glad some things never change, like great melody and lyrics. Wherever you are Mr. Fromholz, I thank you.
She wrote amazing songs. She was an AMAZING singer. And she could pick with right fingers while she was singing. Only musicians who made me cry when they died: Nanci and Jerry Garcia.
In a fair world, Mickey Newbury would have a great big box of Grammies too heavy to lift for this song alone. That’s not the world we live in, of course, but we’re strong enough to bend.
It's the subtleties. Carrying the phrase through.... "Ever thought you'd be when the lights go down". Gives a push to that progression in such a simple way. Great stuff.
Grew up partially in H-Town then…my Home town .Eric was A Wonder Full Inspirationin myLife. The Memories of Eric and Nancy and then by n by just Eric without Nancy at Anderson Fair taught me Sooo Much.Treasured memories.
I have heard and read that this is the best Bluegrass album of all time. I couldn't agree more. Still grieving the passing of Tony. Thanks for posting. It is a great remaster.
This is a legendary album! I saw him on Austin City Limits .....it was a fantastic show......I don't know if it's true but I heard Will had suffered from Schizophrenia.....I hope he has been able to get help and start playing again....he's the real deal....
