I feel ya! I felt horrible for about 6 years and after opening a pack for fun again I felt joy! Now I’ve got a terribly big collection lol, and purpose in life. We are Hunterers/Gatherers ofcourse. This is what we humans are meant to do.
Low pop reports were desirable back in the day when hardly anyone graded cards, now everyone is grading it seems the higher pop report the more in demand the card is which corilates with the higher prices
Another important point to make is that pokemon is not declining. There are tons of people getting into the hobby daily and it wont stop. the demand will rise but unreasonable prices will be more apparent.. love to see more people in the hobby.
Great Advice as always! Just a question though. I know in the past Pokemon has reprinted to demand of sets with the older sets. Is there any chance with the new S and V sets that they just print ONCE to demand and never reprint again? I know history shows they will reprint but what if this new age of Pokemon they decide not to reprint?
2 months ago was definitely NOT the best time to get into this game. Been waiting it out, and boxes of both sets are down to like 70-80$ now on TCG player. If this game does not completely fail in its first year, this is the cheapest the boxes will probably ever be. I dont see this as a legitimate financial investment, but I like DBZ and the packs are fun to open.
Tip number 5: Never touch your cards when you wanna make photo's off them. I ruined my Charizard Sir from 151 mew set😂 Well not ruined but, there's a bit of white because of how i got it out the sleeve.
Good for you! I can relate in similar ways and this video made me tear up, im glad youre doing better man good for you, you definitely deserve this follow!🫶
Hey Phillip, great video mate! Just curious, what's the website that youre using for values - is it TCGPlayer? I can't work out how to find graded values hahah
Speaking of Obsidian Flames, Cleffa and Ninetales SIR are also starting to rise in price. I would argue these two are currently still underrated cards. I'm also planning on getting these while they're still relatively cheap.
This is an excellent video. Single cards are inherently risky - those are some incredible numbers from the other TCGs and there are similar stories from the vintage Pokémon boom too. There are times when it feels like a no brainer, and times when you have to pause for a moment. It can also be hard to seperate collecting from investing when it comes to singles.
First video i’ve seen in your channel, and i liked it already. :) I’m starting collecting pokemon cards and i really like alt arts. I don’t have a favourite card now but i loved the koraidon one. ❤️
I love the galarian gallery Ditto!! It's cute and silly that he's hard to spot and hanging out with the cows. I know its only worth a couple of dollars but I do think a lot of the gg cards have the most stunning artworks and are underrated...A good thing for this year, my little one started walking so I took her along to her first trading card show!
Me and my friend were talking that we've never actually pulled a charizard so we stared buying packs a few months ago and havent stopped since 😂 So i decided to record our journey and document it on youtube 🙏 I Just want him to pull the zard really 😂 we started because he sounded so gutted that he never pulled it because he chased it as a kid so hopefully when we pull it he will pop on camera 😂 he pulled a mewtwo off cam and nearly cried which was the reason i thought to start documenting 🙏😂 Its not important that you support up as its just for fun but if you could give us a like or a sub and share our journey it would make my friends day we have 5 subs and he cant belive it we are a couple of weeks into youtube. Love you all Happy pokemon hunting ❤️

I’m very new to Pokémon card collecting. Thank you for videos like this they are very helpful. Favorite card under $20 from what I’ve seen is full alt art bulbasaur 166/165. Love the art & bulbasaur! One great thing that has happened to me this year is my daughter (3 1/2 yo) is beginning to develop a love for collecting cards which I’m so excited to share with her!
The Marketing is amazing here Philip pushes pokemon aspects in life genuinely love this channel...thanks for the time ...the information...and this is my first time collecting and owning beautiful Art on some of these cards than you!!
I just got my moonbreon back in a 9.5 from BGS. I am conflicted on whether to sell and buy another one or to keep it and ride it out. Thoughts anybody? 😅
Pokemon will never die out .. there will always be a market for these cards …. I almost died of laughter when Palworld was released and people actually had the audacity to call it the Pokemon killer 😅
I’m 34 years old now and like many other people my age who grew up watching cartoons Pokemon was a huge part of my childhood in the early 2000s . I recently got back into collecting and thanks to that I ran into your channel …. Amazing story
I absolutely love this set (like all the other 80s/90s kids!) I was gutted they weren't available last year but I got my one made to order and kept it sealed. I'm now buying as much as I can afford, I figure in 30 years when I'm 62, they'll either be worth $$$ or I'll have the time of my life reliving 151 🤣 Also first time opening/collecting japanese pokemon cards (masterball is such an elite idea, gutted they didn't do it for Eng)! It's actually made me go back and start collecting VSTAR universe, incredible sets!
Ive just started collecting again I can't beleive how much fun it is, my daughter is loving it too growlithe is her favourite 😍 Loving the vids i even just bought some that you recommended 😊
Love the rubber band analogy! I agree, singles are risky investments, sealed product is safe and where about 90% of my investment dollars have gone. I feel alt arts are close to if not tapped out for the time being and that price bubble will soon pop a bit. It might be time to clear out some of the slabs that don’t have as much sentimental value and make some $$$ while we can
