My thought was that this must be a different Ruby, unless she’s been at Churchill camp for 6 months, LOL... Just kidding, don’t think it would be easy to get rid of her potty mouth... ☺️
Brilliant Ruby, it makes me feel amazed and also sad in a way. I think how incredible is the detail of what they remember, and what if the owner never comes home one day and the rest of the family have to keep hearing his words and his way of speaking. I mean the fact that they can repeat things with such detail is awesome, but for me the issue is that they mostly don't have any awareness of the meaning of what they say.. It just feels like dealing with a mentally ill person in the family. Sorry for my dark perception of this.
Have a female eclectus called Rubi and she's so lovable! She doesn't say as many words yet but she's not even two yet so hopefully someday she will! I love your video and every parrot called Rubi especially my own! And want to thank to my boyfriend for making me love birdies as now I'm crazy in love with them! All the best for your Ruby!!!
eclectus are beautiful and loving birds for sure but they have mood swings esp. if there are other birds in the house. they are known to be very territorial, and don't tolerate anyone invading their personal space, which seems all the cages in the house lol. our eclectus, rosie, never allows anyone on her cage at least. she's not too quick so she can't hurt anyone which is a good thing. lol.
Ruby can relate many actions to words, since we always tell her what we are doing. She knows squirrels and rain by sight, if she hears pots and pans she says, "Momma's cooking", things like that. Checkout the Alex Foundation website to find out how intelligent they can be. If you plan on owning a parrot, be sure you give it alot of love and attention, or it can become stressed and not such a good pet. Thanks for watching! Ruby's Mom
So they're smart enough to repeat words and phrases by ear... accent, pitch, etc. But do/can they ever really understand what they're saying? Do they understand meanings of words at all? I know all bird owners think so or would like to think so, but really... I want to know factually bc I've considered purchasing one but I'm not sure if they're easily trained or just good copy cats. But my rabbit even knows some commands. A parrot should know some things too, right?
