Hello, I created this RU-vid channel for those interested in pigeons and pigeon keeping. I started out with 4 Birmingham Rollers that I bought at a flea market. So glad I did! They are usually the highlight of my day. I have an extensive background of animal keeping and breeding as well as pigeon keeping and flying. I am also a breeder of high quality German Shepherd dogs which Is also my passion since I was a child. I currently have a flock of Roller Pigeons and many types of high quality racing pigeons. I enjoy club racing and one loft racing very much! I show my lofts, day to day care and flying, and all the accessories that are needed. It will be easy to see how enjoyable the pigeons are from the videos! For those who have been thinking of taking up the pigeon hobby, these videos are a must! For those who are already into pigeons, I am sure you will enjoy my perspectives and birds. Please subscribe, comment, like and share the channel. Thanks, Rocky Ridge Kennel & Loft
Hope all is well and you should do things as you feel are correct and to your liking enjoy the day my friend jope to see a update soon been wondering where you been 🙏🏼💪🏼🏆🧬
This is amazing, really enjoyed this video. You take such great care of them. Made me so happy to see your bird return home under her own steam! I have a Racing Pigeon visiting me every day for about a month. Her owner is too far from me to collect her. I don't keep pigeons, but she crash landed in my garden and I fed her with my wild bird seed and gave her water. She couldn't fly so I was able to pick her up and put in my potting shed. She's a 2024 bird, she was meant to do 50 miles but did 150 instead. I got her number from the wing and rang her owner. He arranged a local racing pigeon owner to pick her up. After a week, any vehicle that could've collected her fell through, so they agreed he could keep her. He let her go with his flock after 8 days and she immediately flew back to me! He said he's never heard of this before. Now she can fly I can't pick her up. She spends most of her days here, and has brought a wild pigeon back with her a time or two. Not sure what to do to get her back home! Trying to learn as much as I can. The bird here gets excited to see me but then runs away when it's not who she's expecting. They do bond with their breeders I'm sure. Do you have any advice please? Your birds are absolutely beautiful 🥰
Pakistani high flyers are the best but always fly them in the morning, they fly and go invisible from our eye, so normally they need minimum 5 hour to be visible to human eye, if flew at evening they will show up after sunset and u might loose them.
Anyone know what I can give my female pigeon? To shake off this watery bad dirrehea . .. I have been giving her coxistat with oregano... Going on 2 weeks now and nothing changed 🥴😔🥺...
@@motorfreight450 I got the flooring from a local sheet metal shop that sells all types of metal materials. It’s called 3/4” expanded metal. Hope that helps my friend
Good question, you keep them in a cage outside the loft with access to the trap if they ever plan on coming in to get something to eat or roost, they will have to jump through the wires. You just let hunger in time do the work and repeat the process every day until they come through without any hesitation.
Hello MIke my name jim from California i have been watching your videos for a while and enjoy every one ...i was wondering if you have for sale a black pair how much and how much to ship to California 9:05
Mike , you have me considering racing. I’ve kept pigeons for 30 years. The guys in local clubs that I met , treat their birds as commodities that have no value other than wins. Listening to your compassion for the birds has me thinking if I met some others like you, I would join a club.
In my club there are a lot of good guys. It’s a good experience as long as you don’t take it too seriously. You definitely don’t have to race them to enjoy them, but each race day is special watching them come in.
Just want to make sure these young birds have everything they need and don’t want to take any shortcuts at their expense. I make little changes all the time and see how it affects them, but I think I’ve got a good mix at the moment. Thanks for the support, my friend.
these Pakistani high flyers fly well over a mile high. Only reason yours are flying low is that they see racers as droppers. Droppers work great of these high flyers. You also need to train them for landing in dark using lights, check out how Joe at moatside loft does it and how he uses droppers.
@@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons Mike all is well. I still have the birds. Still planning on getting out of the business. I have been busy working and not alot of time to be with the birds.
may i make a suggestion about the landing on the house. how bout nxt time before you let them out, place some items on the house roof, to encourage them to land staright on the loft
Awesome video as usual Mike! I love how you speak your mind, and as a listener it's as if I'm sitting right next to you sitting at that spot drinking coffee too 😂. You're absolutely right, do what YOU think is right and yes the birds will tell you a lot if one pays attention. Love the way you load the birds into the truck 😉
Just a little update on the bird I called in on Tuesday. It returned yesterday, Sunday. When it saw the carrier it was like a switch went on and it took off in the direction of home. Hope it made it!
This past Tuesday I had a racer stop into my garage. Seeing the bands, caught it and called in the band. Two hours later the owner was here to pick it up. As an avid chicken breeder this was a unique look into a different bird hobby. Now I have two racer/breeder contacts. Absorbing as much as I can.
@@thesquirrelyprepperlifesty5523 i’m glad you got the bird back to its owner safely and you will enjoy Pigeons my friend. They are absolutely fascinating. Have fun but be careful once you get into Pigeons it’s a lifelong hobby.🤩
