It's funny, you know. After disliking the first season for reasons she could not articulate, my sister went back in to watch the second. She played reach, back on the 360, same as I did. She even played 2 and 3, where I have only recently beaten 2 through the MCC, despite once owning a working PC copy of halo 2. She did not care how the fall of reach was brutalized, narratively. She did not care that covenant ships were not purple. She did not care that captain keyes was dead before even reaching halo. She just... keeps watching. I just... don't understand. She watches slop. She recognizes it's bad. And chooses to KEEP WATCHING, EXPECTING IT TO GET BETTER.
What I will say, is that of all of these versions, the sound of the gun in the first Halo is still the best audio for it and the overall "feel" of it is also the best. It felt like a high caliber gun. The later versions felt much weaker, even if the actual damage was similar.
Not some, All Spartans III's were classified as MIA if they died not to mention they were top secret and most people did not even know they existed. Spartan III's were Expendable NOT Disposable, they still cost a lot of money to make and maintain are still valuable assets to the UNSC.
That this was even considered is proof enough for me that 343 really isn't the company for Halo. I think the evidence of what we've seen from their games further proves that
The master chief is John. Jon is not the master chief. She has it backwards, to use her language. She's trying to make it more human when the whole point of the super soldiers was they were created in a very inhumane way.
Yeah I like humanity being good enough to give me some faith in humanity. It not even unrealistic, a common enemy is one of the most easy way to get humans to work. Halo 4 actually did the rouge angle quite well, mostly because everyone agreed the human bad guy was an idiot. You can tell tha infinity was one step away having a full on mutiny in halo 4 over the bad decisions, and when infinity shows up again promotions were handled out to fix the stupid, So yeah one gets the one obstructive Captain was just that, a solo act that the moment he got the spotlight shined on his stupid, did not last long and chief just had to outlast him,
Im pretty sure, i may be wrong (ppl can correct me) but i think emails or something came out recently that stated 343 execs really disliked all of Bungie, INCLUDING voice actors, they wanted them gone. Not just "different direction". 343 literally thought they coukd do Halo better by every metric.
Look what theyve done to my baby, maybe im old but honestly, i dont feel halo is for me anymore, i grew playing halo 2 with my sister, on the last gift i received from my father before he died, i miss my memories, my friends who all just moved along, most dont play halo anymore, the new games, even infinite dont feel like halo to me, i know, im the problem, but yeah, its aimed at another generation, but i miss, granade jumps, skilled jumps, the humor, the foul language, the old maps, that werent the size of a state, spartans feel little inside them, even doors feel like they could fit a truck through there, i think, i accepted the fact that all of that is on the past, and mew games wont be for me, and im ok with that, nobody will take away the old games, mamories and i can truat that the modding community will keep the games alive into the future, ill always love these old games, and ill cherish them and find another excuse just to play them.
Halo Nightfall was a disaster. You've mentioned all of the reasons why it was bad, but good grief. I'm fairly sure what they were going for with the emphatic 'It's an element' lines--there's a book by Alastair Reynolds where rather than nanotechnology, advanced far-future 'aliens' have picotechnology and femtotechnology, with the ability to modify the internal structure of atoms. The NOVA bombs were clearly ripped from Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, and were an example of bad (but cool) writing from Eric Nylund, so it's not just the TV show writers. It would have been nice to have a series where Locke manages to get everyone back alive, thus making him different from the Master Chief, where everyone around him winds up dead. Edit: Also I saw far too much poorly derived inspiration from The Core movie, which was better done--in fact, I'd say that Halo Nightfall knocks The Core out of the "most poorly researched science fiction movie" category.

Ok, so I have an idea for a Halo TV show, and at some point some exposition slightly expands on sparse history using known examples of Sci-Fi Industrial Elements. Little details like, why is Reach so important, even AFTER most of their Titanium Mining has stopped? Answer: Reach was one of the very first Extra-Solar Systems Humanity EVER colonized, and as such they threw, EVERYTHING at it to make it a habitable sector. My Canon: the Planets that would later become the Inner Colonies, in particular the Capitals of certain regions of Human Controlled Space, would usually have their own self-sustaining supply infrastructure; ie, mass quantities of Local Stellar Wind Hydrogen harvesting and refinement. Think, a Dyson Swarm, propelled in constant orbit around the Star System, deploying solar sails once in position for the purpose of collecting the CME(Coronal Mass Ejections) and then would drop off a tank of compressed Hydrogen Fuel for the UNSC’s reactors. Ergo, Reach is basically Canada to the US, or the Saudi’s in simpler terms for those that don’t know that the US gets most of its oil from Canadian’s. Next, resource refineries. Reach most likely had absolutely enormous amounts of refineries and ship breaking facilities due to the staggering amount of raw materials present planetside and in-system, so it fits that the largest corporate entities would have some of their largest operations on Reach. It’s stated in Novel Canon that it’s Titanium that’s most prevalent, but I also add in a bunch of other rare Earth Elements. It’s stated that there’s Forerunner artifacts on Reach, so maybe the artifact’s power sources just poop out mass quantities of rare planetary minerals/materials as part of their waste generation. Think, Trees pooping Oxygen, but instead its Neodymium, or Ytterbium or something. JUST, THESE TWO POINTS ALONE, would MORE than justify the ridiculous Military Budget and presence on the Planet. It would even be a nice touch to have some Revian (Reach Citizen’s name for themselves) mega-corporation’s logo on the side of a bunch of Hydrogen Fuel Cells or just giant tanks of them scattered around Star Ports or Military Bases. Most later Colonies would never get such massive Industrial Production Sectors, so they’d be limited in their ability to grow and develop themselves, meanwhile most the Inner Colonies would have OVERBUILT Industrial Production Sectors, and have virtually limitless capacity for productivity and whatnot, making it feel as though money was easy to come by, thereby creating MASSIVE cultural gaps in the Colony’s depending on where you lived. And initially the Government would foot the bill for these investments because they wanted them to succeed and stay prosperous into the coming centuries, but gradually this enthusiasm would dwindle and they would eventually become after thoughts, wiling many in the majority of cases arguing AGAINST their establishment, stating that it was too expensive to setup for virtually no benefit when there were already so many well established Sectors the Outer Colonies were able to acquire resources from. There would also be the well established economic principle of not wanting a market over-saturated with Outer Colonial resources because a too rapid influx from the fringes would run the risk of either clogging the Industry’s ability to produce goods and tanking it’s market value, and thereby creating a crisis of oversupply and insufficient demand, making the Credit basically useless. Mass starvation due to a drop in the prices of everything would make it almost impossible to get food to where it needed to go.
