Has Season 5 fixed Halo Infinite? 

Honestly bro all we need now are more weapons and vehicles, and then I'll be really happy. I'm very keen for Firefight to properly release this Season, and I'm extra keen for the networking overhaul. Just a little correction, operations pass(the new name for events or fractures) are still free and earnable just by playing during the time the operation releases and expires, the difference is that now, once the event is finished a player can pitchase the pass for 500 credits and still earn those things he might have missed during the free time

Before S5, when a new BP came out, the previous one became entirely paid. You couldn't go back and progress freely. They just reduced the "free time" for the S5 BP.

Season 5 actually got me playing regularly again. This is the most fun i've had in infinite since season 2. I really hope they keep this momentum, without crashing and burning.

If 343 fix the connection issues, ui and matchmaking, then have a fairly priced store and finally begin adding campaign dlc (hopefully still in the vein of the base campaign but with more variety in locations), then I'd become fully committed to the game and would be able to get my friends on board. We'd play through all the campaign content, then play multiplayer while waiting for the next campaign.

The fact that this game is centered around a covenant faction made up from brutes, but doesn’t have the brute shot or spiker.. wtf man. These weapons need to be added next imo.

One correction on my part, because I am *the big dumb* 6:43 You can pay 500 credits for event passes now which will unlock a "premium cosmetic" and will stop the event from expiring. I kinda collated the two things while I was talking about it.

I can't fault most of your analysis but one quick point: the way battlepasses work hasn't changed, its always worked this way. Arguably its gotten better because not only will people be able to go back and buy access to season passes they missed but they will also be able to access the unlocks from the event passes if they missed the period in which they were free. Sure, its not perfect but it means that we won't have the previous problem of, for example, there being no way to get any of the eagle strike kit after the event ends. The reason Halo Infinite's battlepass was better than anyone elses was not that yoy could go back to it for free but was instead that, if you paid money for it but didn't complete it, you weren't prevented from completing it later unlike in, say, Valorant.

Been playing since the beta on my laptop with M&K. I love that there's more options for play besides Multiplayer. Hopefully, we get more "Fun" weapons like the Plasma Caster, Fuel Rod gun, and Sticky Det etc.

Honestly, Season 5 is great. My biggest gripe is the fact that they're going back to being greedy. They said that they've raised the prices of the shop because of "multi-core". Not a real reason 343, the shop prices were fine before season 5.

"The first impression doesn't have to be the last." - THIS. This very sentiment is what I've been trying to nudge others toward. Not specifically for Halo, but just in general. These days, people are so quick to let that be the end, both in gaming, in movies and TV, and even with other people. It's always an option to look back, and decide if that first impression is what you hold onto, or if you let it go in favor of another chance, a broader perspective, and maybe an experience you'd have never had if you chose to stick by your initial judgements.

Hello Laper Larden, I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying most of Season Five for Halo: Infinite. I agree with most of your thoughts about the season. I think using the Flood cosmetics for Infection and/or Juggernaut would be a great idea, although I do not play Infection often as I am terrible at Infinite's version. I love all the new Forge and AI tools for custom games, but I have had serious connection issues when trying to join and play matches. I play on an Xbox One currently, so I'm not sure if my issues are because of the console I'm using or something Infinite needs to have fixed for every system. I have mixed feelings regarding the monetization of Events. I actually like the idea that I could pay around five dollars to work on events I missed when I was taking graduate classes, working on personal projects, or doing something else during my free time. However, I think Events should be free during their initial duration. Also, I want to financially support the developers and the leadership responsible for adding some great things to Infinite, but I am not a fan of the significant price increase in the shop, and I think the additional price increase when shoulders become cross-core is a bad decision that hurts the goodwill 343 Industries earned from Season Five. Despite all the good things 343 Industries has done during Season Five, I am still disappointed by the absence of campaign DLC. The campaign is still my favorite aspect of Halo, and a DLC for Infinite's campaign could take advantage of the new equipment, environments, and lore that have been added in the multiplayer. You could even provide the narrative team some additional time to determine how to continue the narrative left off at the end of Chief's story in Infinite by having a kind of spin-off DLC that focuses on a story for our Spartans - and hopefully Elites - that gradually leads to the ongoing battle for Zeta Halo. I hope you are doing well. Your videos have such great editing and analyses, and they are always a pleasure to watch.

Great video, basically my exact same thoughts of the season. Season 5 has brought me back to the game for the first time since season 2 which honestly I didn’t expect, and I’ve been really enjoying the maps and modes added since I’ve been gone and Forge is amazing. I just wish we’d get some more new weapons and vehicles that feel different, there’s so many classic Halo weapons still missing and the sandbox could really use it. The monetization is still pretty bad as well too. But that said I have hope for Halo in the first time in since before Infinite’s launch, and I pray 343 keeps this positive momentum going.

Great vid, totally agreed with all your points, felt the same with the DMR too haha and the Mark V. As an « OG fan » from CE/2001 to me S5 feels like a step forward and a step backward some stuff improved and some did not. But ultimately my issue with Infinite it’s some core gameplay decision (team Colors, véhicule handling, straf etc.) and the sandbox that i find stil very poor, add the latency, the matchmaking issue (I can’t find a game in ranked in my region (UK))…In the end infinite it’s getting better for the fans of Infinite but nothing here really will appeal to the larger audience or for the players that have issues with its core gameplay (it’s too hardcore/competitive to have a larger audience, it’s that simple). Don’t get me wrong, I think It’s a great season and I love the flood stuff but it’s not Infinite come back that some fans said it is, numbers already show that it is not and 343i used all their BIG nostalgia cards already: Forge, forge AI, coop, infection, cross core, firefight. Only way to properly « relaunch » infinite imo, would be a 2.0 update with core gameplay changes, new content, a new campaign, a marketing push and even another name I will dare to say but 343i doesn’t have these ressources anymore so it won’t happen. The game will always have this cycle of going up/being hyped at each new remaining seasons, then a week or 2 later or so population will drop again and cycle will repeat. Infinite is surviving, it’s not thriving IMO and the franchise as a whole still feel « dead » As much as I hated the TV series, there is no news about it either 1.5 years after Season 1 ended. Anyway I really, really tried to like infinite but it doesn’t do it for me sadly, it’s just too sweaty (like H5) and after a full day of work I just want relax with my friends like we did back then on H3/Reach etc… Still waiting to test the official KOTH firefight tho 🤞 Anyway that’s my long thoughts on the game currently. Talking about the Reach DMR's Bloom, Bungie actually had it fine. 343 released an actual game update when they took over called "The Bloom Update" where they nerfed the DMR and the Magnum, and MCC uses that patch

If they fixed CGB and networking (US based, can't speak to your experience) it'd solve like 70% of outstanding issues.

Im a big halo fan, played from CE-Reach , tried some Infinite on release and it weren't for me but recently jumped back in and I'm enjoying it. However I cant believe they don't have one simple thing and thats post game lobbies. Just throws you back out to menu when game finishes , rather than playing with the same people and only added new ones when those leave. There's no community , you spend no time with people other than a quick 10mins. Most people on my friends list were people I met in halo lobbies, now we dont get that. But still Im enjoying it and glad I came back.

There are times a game is about to start or has started and I have no clue it has, there are no audio queues of the old countdown sound, or people in a lobby making noise or visual changes when you are in a lobby, and this is when a headset is on.

I think one of Infinite’s biggest issues (for me personally) is that the custom games are too reliant on the map itself. Specifically the scripting, I wish it wasn’t strictly a forge item but something I could load (and/ or edit) in the lobby/ game mode. It just sucks that I have to modify the scripting on a map when I want to convert it from CTF to BTB or Team Slayer.

I think they need to add the ability to put music pieces over our forge creations to add atmosphere! I think the forge AI is great but it really makes you realize how music in PVE drives the feel of every encounter.

No btb maps is sad we should be at like 10-12 btb maps and 8-10 squad battle maps by now with the community made forge maps people have created why can’t 343 finally cater to the btb community like they do to the 4v4 community where they have like 50-60 maps available to them yet we are stuck with 6 btb and 5 squad battle. Numbers are so off, they need to double the count of btb and squad so the player base will be happy and so excited with new maps to one of the most popular modes in the game.

PLEASE. just add the following: pre game/post game lobbies (with rank and spartans on display), fix desync, campaign dlc, stability improvements to customs, MORE UNLOCKABLE CONTENT BY CHALLENGES OR PLAYING ONLY!, and for the love of halo add the freakin weapons from previous titles in (basics at least like the OG shotgun, fuel rod, covey carbine etc.), bring down the shop prices, assassinations at some point, playable elites, completely gut and circumvent that stupid core system, and maybe while you're at it 343, reward the players that have stuck with your crappy game for the last two years and bought the campaign. Thank you :) did i miss anything?

Armor cores need to be like preset Spartans with whatever customization you want on each preset that you make.

I think the Flood armour look great. I don't know but if I were the Flood who got ahold of a supersoldier wearing superarmour I'm not gonna touch much stuff like that's free real estate man, your meat suit just got an upgrade. I feel like this exposes that we need more perspective in Halo games, Halo 3's Flood introduction level was scary because it was Earth, you see more of your common man consumed by the Flood. ODST had you play as ODSTs so you were clearly less strong than a Spartan and to complete the mission you had to have a proper team, if that mission was undertaken by a Spartan it would've been done solo or at least less than your ODST team.

Things that I’ve noticed that weren’t mentioned were, no playable elites, punishing players for not watching twitch streams at god awful hours in order to get unique colours and emblems. (You touched upon the 4am for an ugly one) We only have 1 brown armour coating that is actually brown and it’s very light, it’s called “Cadet Brown” and in certain lobbies it looks orange. Also we still don’t have a proper white armour colour after 2 years. You touched upon everything else that I would love to see though.

I've been having a blast with the AI forge. That's something I've wanted since I first discovered the game mode. While I may not be participating in multiplayer, it's still nice to enjoy just being in a new Halo game again

Weird. I literally loved forbidden. It's one of my favorite maps for 4s. I've been super happy with this season. I know the store changes kinda suck. But the battle pass is still really good and it's f2p so I'm pretty happy. This is the first season I've played and stayed playing since the game dropped. Very happy with forge. Very happy with Infinite right now.

Loved the video as always. Funny enough I think Forbidden is one of the best maps that has come out over the last decade but here goes personal preference.

They should natively add AI to Forge in the past games.

If you define "fix" as doing the bear minimum and putting the stuff in that should have been there at release, then I guess so. If you define "fix" as solving the fundamental issues that surround this games monetization, gameplay, and progression, such as battlepass, then no.

PLAYABLE ELITES!!!! Hopefully soon I hate the Spartan Narrative and the lore has to be connected to the story. They are missing an opportunity for customisation and creativity. Elites would benefit on the core system as of course you can’t cross customize Spartans to elites Also I have an idea for it have two matchmakings Universal/Social - All Human and Non-Human cores can play together (SBMM Toned Down) Spartan Only/ Standard - Only Human Cores can play together (SBMM is apparent) Ranked - the species/core will have a select only those cores can play with each other I.e Competitive Spartan Competitive Elites Competitive RoBots. They would win some of the player base of course and cash in on extra MTs I’m pretty sure they are running into a Stump when it comes to designing Spartan cores. I hope 343 stops with the Spartan obsession/Xenophobia and Actually MAKE a Halo Game. Season 5 is rediscovering Hope the rest well we just have to see…

Halo Infinite Season 5 gives me hope, because the introduction of AI tools alone spawned drove of player-made firefight and story missions all in under a week of release. I used to play Halo multiplayer and pride myself at being good at it--when I was younger. But now I'm older, I'm never going to have that kind of reaction time again. SBMM, as you said, is such a pain because it feels like I have to try hard and do well to enjoy the game, and when I don't do well it's frustrating. It sucks the fun out of it. It's seriously a wonder how 343 doesn't catch the memo that maybe a PVE centric Halo is what people want. Players want to make their customized Spartans feel like they have an impact, not just in a pseudo-storyline. What's the point of all that customization--in my opinion--if you can't truly immerse yourself as a covenant-fighting super solder badass that your spartan should be? Season 2's storyline was a joke in this regard. The spartan commander literally tells you that the only way to save a fellow Spartan's life is to play a simulation of PVP. That's a far cry from having to jump out of a pelican carrying humanity's last hope 20 Klicks on foot and deliver it to a ship fleeing a dying planet on Dr. Halsey's orders. It's just a damn shame they don't give us back spartan-ops, even that felt more like our own characters made some kind of tangible difference, even if it was repetitive. And sure, a Campaign DLC would be cool, but we've had decades of Master Chief being the main character. Reach was my first Halo so my bias is rooted in that, but I feel like they should start making story DLC that has us, the player, actually being a spartan, completing operations, doing what we do best, especially for the sake of those who've built up their own individualized spartan for years before Infinite. Literally just give us spartan ops and tie it into the story or make a spinoff that puts us as the main character.

Gameplay-wise, they need to bring back classic Hammer physics and melee, Fix sword dueling, bring back the old shotgun, bring back classic gamemodes and fix king of the hill to its original glory, allow us to have multiple helmet attachments. Really just revert halo back to being good again like it used to be.

It'll be better once they fix custom games, I still get lobbies where you are stuck in the lobby, cant load into the game and can't leave the lobby without restarting the game

You don't need to buy the operation to get the rewards, theyre still free. You only have to buy them after theyve expired if you want to go back and get the stuff after.

S5 did a lot of things right, but there’s also still a lot of issues in my opinion that still needs tweaking. Like bot bootcamp still boosting my MMR rating even though I mostly play it to cool off, only to try my hand at BTB and get stomped by gold rank groups and make some want to never play it again. FIREFIGHT is giving me a small hope.

the issues i am still experiencing and partially got worse with each season (yes, i am looking at you desync!) - hammer got insanely unfun. I get sniped with the hammer pretty often now and its so anoying - desync is a catastrophy. it makes many things unplayable e.g. i cannot evade needler missiles. I die most of the time even before i see or hear them coming; Infection is unplayable due to the fact they can kill me even though i already hit them and they dont get infected - the other way around i get infected even though i killed them; repulsing missiles (like wraith or spnkr missiles) are almost impossible to reflect due to the inconsistency of desync - the shop prices are insane and the excuse of 343 is just corporate bs - the new season pass is a blessing compared to the bs we had before, but the timer for the battle pass is nowhere explained within the game and even if you read the update notes on their website, even then you stil dont know what exactly happens when the timer expires: does only the free items disappear? Do i have to grind my battle pass from start again? Do i grind the first 20 tiers again while i also earn experience for the latest tier i achieved in the last season? WHat actually does happen EXACTLY once the timer expired? - still too many weapons and vehicles are missing that are waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more valuable and adding more fun to the sandbox than the DMR (an obsolete weapon in Infinites sandbox - in reach it was quite the only valuable long range human weapon) - selling the Mark V armor to celebrate the anniversary is a joke. if they really would celebrate the anniversary they should give it away for free or at least make it 500 credits so everyone can afford it. And the bs argument that shop prices increase because f cross core shouldnt affect an item that isnt even cross core - also .... saying that a shop bundle has 18 items while it has 2 times 8x duplicates .....is scam. - custom games still dont work properly what makes the whole forge overhaul useless. I get stuck in so many queues for custom games that it takes me 20min to actually join a running game. If i get stuck ... i get the message that i wasnt able to join, but i also cannot leave the queue. it just endlessly tries to join and always fails. Only workaround is to shut down the game but if i shut down the game it resets all the settings in my game to default. Which it does anyway from time to time when they patch anything and this is anyoing af - still inconsistent explosions (which could also be an issue of desync) - flood stuff looks cool, but not like flood ... more like Starcraft Zerg, or Gears of War parasites. - and i have many more complains. they really should start fixing their game instead of going for work arounds. or they just dont care for their own game, which is most likely the case PS.: Thanks for the video Lederlappen! Love your content and i really appreciate that you didnt let us wait for that long this time! :) EDIT1: The new purple map is a step in the right direction. It actually is a new fresh look to the game and has cool new stylistic features. Gameplaywise I cannot say anything, because i played it with infection and for this it is a horrible map and I dont play any other mode than infection or BTB as long as desync is as much of a problem as it is since Season 3. The other map which looks like a halo 2 maps has also textures like a halo 2 map. It looks bland. Without detail. I dont know what exactly it is i dislike, but i think its the lighting. Also i want to mention, I have a ping of 30-90ms (sometimes 130) on Xbox and a ping of (almost always) 19ms on PC.... so no, desync is not just a high ping for me, Its a 343 server issue. Its already weird that the Ping pf Xbox and PC are so different even if i use the very same wire. Btw ... no other game had this issue so far. EDIT2: Matchmaking sucks. Having every game sweaty af is just no fun.
