Aah, I JUST beat this yesterday. I was probably like 100 hp too low for it, making it quite the challenge, but man, I can't get this tune out of my head. Such a satisfying boss fight!
Patience, stubborness, imagination - throw in some flexibility and you have SaGa experience in a nutshell. I'm glad you are enjoying the game. Diva was my 3rd clear. Ameya was first and B&F the second.
Quite a bit, yes! It's a game you really have to lean into and be patient with, while topping a series that already demands patience, imagination, and some stubbornness to begin with. But it clicks eventually.
Just finished this game for the first time myself (Laura's story), and it blows my mind how in all these videos you're able to combo level 4 arts like it's nothing. No idea how you do that.
The symbols on the reels aren't random, you can start to get used to what shows up where and know that a specific symbol on the top combo corresponds to the rest working out too. Depends on what you're using and how many combos you're doing, but the game does actually work with you on that front. Typically this works much better with level 4 arts; level 5s don't have as many opportunities for things to line up.
@@valdegard I knew the reels weren't random, but I just couldn't ever keep track of multiple spinners at the same time. Do nested reels always start from the same place, or does it vary depending on how you time your holds?
@@Drayze1 Been a long while since I've played Unlimited Saga (which is an error in these early videos of mine by the way, Unlimited Saga is the only game in which the G isn't capitalized), but I believe the reels reset every time you hold a combo, and the reels themselves depend entirely on what leveled panel you have on that character. For example, a level 4 sword panel will have the same panel layout for anyone who has it, with higher level arts replacing the level 1 arts on the reel once you learn them.
Been a while since I did this, but from what I remember you have to survive and leave all the conductors alone until you see one of them is his ancestor; defeating that one will cause a time paradox and win the fight.
I just did the final boss on hard. It's a night and day difference compared to normal mode; much harder and you really have to use items to survive. I didn't have Amarie though (had Croix instead) which I think made things even harder. Another thing I noticed about Hard mode is that Replekia is nigh-useless now. Because of that, combined with song magic being nerfed in general, it seems a lot of damage dealt comes from the Vanguards. Jakuri ending is the best. Her having a duet with Croix was touching.
That was a very thought provoking ending. Granted, it makes less sense in the present time where we have many actual villains to vanquish who are far removed from our most wicked thoughts. 😅 But the message is still helpful. Evil is within us all and its ultimate defeat must happen in our own souls. And then, it was very cool that at the very end Ferris is apparently entering our own world. That's a great way to express how the player will bring the lessons learned from this imaginary world into their own lives. 😊 Anyway, thanks for sharing this. It was a great joy to watch. ❤
You bet! I'm no big shot RU-vidr or video editor or anything so hopefully this serves as a decent playthrough for the history books. At the time of me starting, I noticed a lack of them for this game.
Hmm ok who is your main character here? Sara? Thomas is my main, but then when I get pulled through the portal I have to. I've gotten used to (and relied heavily upon) Commander mode in play through, so am I now stuck not being able use it for the final boss because Thomas is my main?
What I still like the most about the Destroyer is how Fang Breaker, Claw Smasher, and Breath Render just completely block all damage and effects from those specific attacks. So using Breath Render when Fomalhaut is preparing End Breath will just completely no-sell the attack. I'm not sure if it also works against Black Spear Fomalhaut...
I fought Rin, Ran, and Serena on my Janice playthrough and Serena was definitely tough, but Janice had an edge over the twins with Moon Scraper. I'm going to attempt the Four on my current (and last) character, Lavie, as well as upload a video of the Keeper of the Hundred.
I have really enjoyed watching these videos and I'm planning on playing through this game myself soon. I'm looking forward to watching this one too, the moment RU-vid stops throttling the bandwidth on it into unwatchability.
However most of the PRE 2010 Atelier games IE the 3 Iris games and BOTH Mana Khemia 1 and 2 NEVER got a PS3/Vita/PS4 version. So unless Marie's CURRENT PS4 PS5 Switch remake sells well those games are NOT likely to be ported over.
Haha, I never noticed that, you're absolutely right. The component parts I believe are Xol-Hi-She-Et but all together it definitely sounds like something else.
I haven't played this yet this was one of the RPG's I passed up when it was new on the PS2, everybody kept saying it's not worth playing. It actually looks very interesting. Definitely different no denying that but I wouldn't mind giving this a shot.
The hardest part is getting over the initial hurdle and understanding the systems, but even if you don't you can get through most of the game on most characters without much issue. The final boss is pretty tough, and Mythe in particular has a hell of a fight leading up to it, but if you have a decent idea of what sort of items and panels to shoot for, the game is actually one of the easier SaGa games.
It depends, it's very unique and doesn't play like a typical RPG, or even other games in the SaGa series. If you're okay with a very mechanically rich, colorful RPG with a ton of branching paths across 4 characters and little in the way of cutscenes or explorable areas, give it a shot.
