Well well, I definitely over-prepared for this! Don't get me wrong, it was plenty difficult, but with a decent strategy I think it can be comfortably done in the 50-60 level range. The trick of leaving Garnet hanging around while Bahamut blasts constantly works no matter what, it seems.
I used an all female party! This was partly due to preference, part to show off Beatrix, and also because it honestly seemed pretty optimal in this mod. I suppose Quina would have been an objectively better pick than Eiko, especially since the boss quickly absorbs Holy, but I figured she'd get use out of Double White if things went haywire. Well, Dispel was pretty handy, too.
Really, the main difficulty is tied to fundamental flaws with FFIX's system, which is the clogging up of the ATB since everything resolves so slowly. The final boss getting 4 actions per turn as well as a counterattack meant for the most part I was just chilling and waiting for things queued like 6 actions ago to go off.
Freya's HP+10/20% also seemed to bug out, which ended up not mattering since she didn't take lethal damage.
The real MVP was either trance'd Bahamut, or magic evasion? Blue Shockwave whiffed a lot.
