I have the Ikon XD52 and its a great machine but lately my left side has weak pull to it and seems to have a slight stutter when it starts moving. i know the trans are sealed but my question is if i can swap the sealed trans for one that is maintainable. I am at the end of my 3rd season of mowing with it at around 180+ hrs but buying a trans every 3 years with each trans costing 750 dollars seems a little steep at 1500 dollar maintenance every 3 years. what is my best option here?
Lift up the seat. Behind the battery on the rear wall, you'll see where a bunch of wires come out of the plastic tube. There's what looks like a solenoid on the wall. The switch is just above and to the right. You may see a pair of hex head screws. They hold the switch in place. This applies to my Edge 52.
Spring came off, belt jumped of and took out one of my little fans. Picked up 2 fans (one for spare) and & new belt. I plan on replacing the belt because it’s been on there since I bought it new. I forgot the year…. Does the model/serial number give the year manufactured? Anyways, thanks for this video.
The latest model 911614 had a few issues... wheel adjustment locking, bagger blows a little grass out at the connection, the blades coming off. I know some of these have been addressed but I have trouble finding information on which serial# series and how Ariens is addressing these issues on units already in distribution. I'm a big Ariens fans from my experience with the snow blowers and hoping Ariens stay in consumer walk behind mowers game. I want to buy the Ariens Razor 21 Reflex Self Propelled Lawn Mower (911614) and hop you can help me with this info.
Thanks for the completely worthless video. I had already figured out I had to remove the crap that would not allow me to install a new belt, including the left rear tire. Common sense tells me the flat part of the belt goes on the tensioners and the v goes in the pulleys. The only part I,or anyone else, needs to see is how to route the belt. It is very tight under there. I can’t see much of where the belt needs to go and that’s the part that goes into fast forward and tells us absolutely nothing. You’re about as helpful as the idiot engineers who designed this thing.
Great video thanks for posting, walked me through it step by step and worked great! I had my mower on a slight ramp which may have helped and i agree with some of the comments i don’t know how one person can reach the underneath bolt and unscrew at same time, i just unscrewed the top and was able to fit the belt under. All the steps were well explained thank you!
I bought this mower cheap and pour quality.recalls where all done by dealerthe bagging system has a gap on both sides 1/4 or more top to bottom.and the door flap is not a good fit flimsy as well the drive system still locks up aswell.guess its the customer issues.anyone looking to buy a new mower do not buy this razor.

I had to replace my Ariens belt for the first time since I bought it. I am into my 4th month waiting for the belt in CB NS.. This is the very last time I will buy an ariens machine. Summer is here and I shovelled snow by hand at 59 years old. Do better.
I have the Ariens IKON 52" Model 918005 and decided I want to add a mulch kit. To my surprise, Ariens website says Part #: 71800300 This part has been discontinued and is no longer available. Please contact your local dealer. I bought this mower in 2023 and in 2024 parts are discontinued? WTH?!
Could you have picked a smaller lawn to drive that ridiculousness thing around on. 0:09 good thing the lawn was already cut or you'd be chucking grass clippings into the rocks and AC unit. You should fire your advertising group.
Why doesn't anyone make a side discharge, self propelled, gasoline mower with a 190cc+ quality engine? Bagging grass clippings is for the birds. Let's put those nutrients back into the ground! How about it Ariens? > A 23", side discharge - self propelled mower with a Honda 190cc engine or commercial Briggs and Stratton powering the mower.
To be honest, it's because the market for gasoline powered residential mowers is dwindling fast. Just 7 years ago, I got a battery power lawnmower and most people were making fun of me; sounds like you're pushing around a box fan, the battery won't last, etc. Now, they've bought one for themselves and brag about it. Mine doesn't have a side discharge, but has a double mulching blade and cuts it into tiny pieces.
@@scottkolaya2110 The Federal Government's "electric agenda" and the increased weight of the fat-ass - lazy consumer is more likely behind the lack of a really powerful self-propelled - side discharge - walk-behind gas mower. There has been a second release of the "Stowable"... 611909 (725exi, single blade) and 611914 (875 Pro Series, dual blade)... fixes to some issues in the previous release.
I got Menards to take mine back after arguing with a couple different managers. They made me take it to a certified Ariens dealer, drain both oil and gas, and give me a letter to Menards cerifying that it was empty of fluids. The dealer was about 35 minutes away, and they were busy so I was told to pick it up after the weekend. It got done, and return was then handled with no problems. Ended up with a Club Cadet. Cuts very nice.

I know my gravely HD 52 is identical mine has a 1/2 inch place for the one half inch socket to go into without removing that spring which can be quite dangerous. I just go under the machine put the one half inch ratchet on it and take the tension off and put slide the belt right on takes about 5 seconds.
