My hair wasn't in this spiral coily condition until recently I went to a natural hair salon. I will use ur videos as a guide as I start to better care for my coils.

If I clarify I use it before or instead of shampoo. If I use clay as part as the conditioning routine, I use it after conditioning. 🥰

Since I lost some hair to bleaching years ago, I like to create temporary hair dyed that are healthy like in my hair oil I put a little fenugreek some neem, Chebe, the last of my henna aloe mask, and I put a little of the semi permanent conditioning color in it and the oil is part olive,grape, avocado oil but has veggie shortening and alittle Shea butter so if I mix it up and put it on my hair my hair does take the color well

Why do you use gels to keep your hair in place
@mrogue87
@mrogue87 5 месяцев назад
So if you use henna do you still do a protein treatment or just deep condition
@TracyD2
@TracyD2 5 месяцев назад
You can do a protein treatment. Not in the same week of course. Henna isn’t a protein treatment so your hair will still need protein. Of course it depends on how damaged your hair is. Some people do well with only using a conditioner with some protein in it on occasion. On the other hand some people need a strong protein treatment like once a month. Henna does strengthen the hair but it’s not a protein treatment.

I’ve just used this on my hair, I had no idea you needed to leave the henna for a couple of hours before using it or leaving it on the hair for hours! Lol I kept mine on for max 20 minutes, I’m very impatient I planned to keep it on for 45 but didn’t happen

Wow! Thank you so much! I‘m happy you‘re having a positive experience with my videos! ❤️❤️ Drying takes forever unfortunately. But if you can master your wash&gos to last 7-12 days without experiencing dry hair, I’m sure it’s worth the drying time. Often, you can activate the gels (+ leave-ins) when your hair is lightly moist from the shower steam. 😇

Hello! Thank you for sharing 😊 how often do you do a clay wash? Is it every wash day (ie once per week) or more like a once a month treatment?
@RabielleParfait
@RabielleParfait 6 месяцев назад
Hi, thank you so much! I don‘t clay wash every wash day. It really depends on the season. For example in summer time or just warmer seasons, instead of using too much shampoo, I would opt for clay washes a gentle alternative. Also when I want to give my hair a boost and better curl definition I would do more clay washes. When I start my frequent clay wash series I can walk you through with updated videos. ❤️

@@RabielleParfait thank you! I’m interested in clay washes because I have the same experience when I detangle my curl pattern is brushed out. My hair clumps nicely when I shampoo and after applying conditioner but once I brush it they leave and don’t come back and it takes longer to style and get them clump back up. I don’t want to use brushes to style. I tried detangling in the shower before shampoo which worked but I felt like my shampoo wasn’t getting the conditioner / pre poos out but I think that’s because I wasn’t using the best products (they had bisaminopropyl dimethicone and copolymers). Now I have 2 more washes with the K18 and then I’m going to try pre detangling again with the Nature’s Little Secret prepoo (no silicones or copolymers) and see how that works. I may wait to try the clay until you release your videos. I’ve also done a lot of research and may buy kaolin and bentonite. I already have rhassoul. I did it once but never tried again because I ended up doing the BGC method but didn’t like the high ph cleansing products. I kept the principles that worked like cleansing weekly with shampoo and conditioner and understanding styling products. I appreciate you sharing your experiences because they’re so helpful! We have similar hair but I think my curls are a little bit wider. Your hair looks so good after the clay wash and I know my hair can do that too because it looks that way after shampoo and after conditioner, the detangling just brushes it away.

@@YahushaIsMyKing8 Those ingredients you mentioned usually wash out with regular (all purpose) shampoos, especially when you cleanse twice. But I’m sure the Nature’s Little Secret prepoo will do a great job! Innersense products are very balanced but the clarifying shampoo Malibu C is high in pH and when it comes to our hair, my opinion is that it should be followed up with a deep conditioner or at least a highly & thick moisturising (rinse out) conditioner to balance things out again. When my hair is open (not protective style) I mostly detangle my hair before shampoo. Once you find a “pre detangling” product that you’re happy with, I’m sure you won’t be needing to clay wash in between as often. Just make sure whatever conditioner or deep conditioner you use, it should enhance your natural curl pattern and not make it totally frizzy even if you don’t use a brush. You can watch one of my recent clay wash videos “How to condition afro curly hair & clumping issues” where I mention ingredients we could look out for enhanced curl clumping. 🥰

That's so great that you actually measure the pH of the products you make. I've seen people use highly alkaline or highly acid ingredients to make diys and not even consider checking the pH at all.
@RabielleParfait
@RabielleParfait 6 месяцев назад
💯%! Would be amazing if we could make impact and move DIY RU-vid tutorials to a place where it still makes fun to do own hair remedies but much more safer. I used to not check the pH and wasn’t aware how alkaline and acid ingredients affect the hair strands. But now since I know better, I try to make people aware. ❤️

I don't wear wash n gos in the winter because my hair *will* touch my hoodies and thick jackets and coats but in the summer they're perfect because of the shrinkage. I grew my hair long wearing wash n goes mainly in the past so I don't believe it's impossible. I think the key is using humidity resistant products with high high hold. 11:25 that line about density. so many naturals are obsessed with retaining their shed hair and showing off how little hair they "lost" when detangling. Like regardless the hair has already exited the root so I don't get why they want to retain it in their hair... it's fallen out already and like you said can contribute to knots and tangles.
@RabielleParfait

Thank you for sharing, I love it when I hear it‘s possible to grow the hair out while doing wash&gos. I‘m now at a slightly different journey because my hair is twisted. It’s gives me the freedom to not detangle my hair for a bit. 😇 We also do have winter season here, so I’ll just do it like you do and wear washngos once it gets warmer. I love the observation about your hair touching thick jackets and coats, that’s why I mostly walk out with head bands or satin beanies, so that I have least friction with my hair, even if it’s twisted. ❤️

For your pracaxi oil pre poo. Did you dampen your hair first or you find it better to apply on dry hair??? Would love to see a pre poo oiling routine
@RabielleParfait
@RabielleParfait 6 месяцев назад
No, I didn’t dampen it but I do both ways. If I want to moisturise with no hair wash I dampen first. If it’s a pre hair wash, I apply it on dry hair and let it sit for at least 10-30 minutes or overnight.

Your hair is pretty! I'm exploring being a chunky twists/twist up-dos natural with a few twist outs here and there once I get my desired shape! :) I find that with twists I'm able to use less styling products so that I can focus on more nourishing forms of moisture such as light-weight products targeted for healthy hair, oils and surprisingly diys! Looking forward to any diy videos you have upcoming for 2024.

You made so many points on this video. I am here for your new journey. Yes there are many cutting techniques you have to find the one that works for you. The dryer is a culprit 😁, I feel exactly as you do, the top of our hair is exposed to the heat and can be causing damage if we are under it for extended hours

I trim/cut my hair wet with leave in conditioner every 3 months. My wash and go has a good shape. I have length retention. I don't have split ends and have very few single strand knots. I oil my scalp on wash day only with Jamaican Black Castor oil because I produce very little sebum. I use a liquid leave in conditioner and a curling cream with medium hold for my wash and gos and twists. I don't use gels. This has been my routine since big chopping from relaxed hair to a TWA March 2019. My hair is now mid back length. I am 5ft 7 ins tall for context. I have mostly 4A with some 3C coily/wavy hair if we use the curl chart. Like you, I do what works for my hair.

How often did you use henna before stretching it out ?
@RabielleParfait
@RabielleParfait 7 месяцев назад
How do you mean it? There are time periods where I henna a lot to less. I’ve been hennaing my hair for over a decade at least once a year. It depends on how much time I’ve got and how fast my hair grows out. Now, I try to henna at least twice a year. If I henna more frequently like every 1-2 months, I now focus more on henna glosses with conditioners and my roots. I’ll share an updated henna routine soon, right now my hair is twisted❤️
