Big scores but never counted in wins for Pakistan, except against India in doclie Pakistani pitches. I would put Javed Mianadad , Younis Khan and Misbah ul Haq above him. I remember a game against Eng in '71, Pak needed only 225 to win and Zaheer was out cheaply, same against Aus in 72-73. needed about 169 to win and again Zaheer flopped. It ok all fine to score 274 240 and 200's against India but if your win fails to win and all that big scores are meaningles, for people to compare him with Bradman is a joke, Pakistanis sometime get very excited when their players does well, and start comparing them with greats of all time.

Imran Kahn rightly pointed out that Gower’s elegance was largely due to bad technique. He said something like that Gower played like his shoelaces were tied together. A video of him getting out caught in the slips or gulley would run all day. But yes, I loved watching him too.

GRV was the first Indian Stylish Batsman. Gavaskar came later in 1971. In the beginning of his Era the Indian Batsmen were afraid to face pace bowling sparing few formers like salim Durani Pataudi etc... He had different style of treating bowlers with his wrist work. Then years later Sachin entered as an improved version of the two little masters Sunny and Vishy. Anyways I credit all three of them Vishy Sunny and of course. No comparison should be made of these two old geniuses wi Sachin. The Era ib which Sunny and Vishy played there were not much advanced technique as we have today in the form of 3rd umpire. With 3rd umpire things become accurate and clear and Batsmen have the benefit. In Vishy and Sunny Era there used to be only umpire on the field they how to exit if the umpires raises hand whether right or wrong. Rgds Kashi Vishwanath

Not a single hook or pull, one short ball and see how he was all at sea here, typically overrated by conservative Bomman shorties gang in an era of few in touch with media..He was good but not as complete and certainly not as great as described..Mohinder Amarnath actually deserves more, a truly great batsman..

Zaheer abbas's average wasn't 44.74 at all his average was 90.55 off just 120 matches. And his time the cricket was more critical, more competitive and more skilled than the era of don bradman. Don bradman was a batter who faced bowlers of much and much less quality from the bowlers faced by the great Zaheer abbas. After all Bradman's average was 90.99. More then that when bradman was a batter the english condition was very much less seam and less sluggish. The aussie condition was less swing and less sluggish then abbas's condition and obviously the 70's and 80's were the periods of golden age of pace bowling. Again all odds Zahir abbas made 80 hundreds on just 100 matches. So, no batter till now even came near to the shoe of the great master Zaheer Abbas. Hats off to this greatest legend of batting art of world cricket.

Gower was a kind of unique batsmen in terms of his shot making with that lazy elegance in most of his shots . I think it's a think that is natural and one can't learn and play it and that's why I think it's difficult to see another batsman like Gower.

Does anyone noticed he was a fantastic hooker early in his career. At that time he used to go back and across. After the helmet they all stopped going back and across so they are all getting hit in their faces and head. When you go back and across the hook is played with the ball over the shoulders. Watch Roy Fredericks and Grenidge. Today a pull shot is called a hook shot. A pull shot is a cross batted shot...pulling a ball off the body to the leg side. Whenever you miss the ball you get hit. The helmet is giving batters a false sense of security
