Installed a bow mount on my Yamaha 210fsh 2018 21 ft fishing boat. I have a custom $6000 canvas cover for the boat. The bow. Mount caused the cover to be tight covering the stayput mount. I knew that the cover was tighter but the top of the bow mount did not seem sharp. Apparently it was sharper than I thought . The new Stayput mount cut a hole in the canvas cover that will require patching or modification of the cover. So be aware that if your cover is tight over the bow mount, with wind action it can cut your cover.
This was a great tutorial and explained a lot. My question is would the elite that is for distance also be versatile enough to alao be used for pitching and flipping? I cant afford both but for sure know i want a tatula.
Flouroclear is a copoly fishing line. It’s not true fluorocarbon. I prefer to use copoly in heavy grass, brush, and dirtier water situations. Most copoly is extremely tough line but much more visible to the fish. Here’s my rule of thumb… 1. Clearer water - always throw true fluorocarbon line. AND as light as I can throw considering structure like heavy trees, docks, dock cables and rocks. The fish in my lakes are very heavily pressured so I want every advantage in my favor. 2. Top water - for frogs - straight braid to the frog. For walking baits sometimes braid to a 1’ to 2’ mono leader. Mono floats so it’s best for top water baits. 3. Copoly - only in dirty water when fishing docks, and heavy timber / brush. 4. Fluorocarbon - I have to use it a lot because our water here is so clear! ALWAYS when fishing a drop-shot. And will run 15lbs braid to 8lbs fluorocarbon leader. 5. Straight braid with frogs, or punching mats or heavy grass. Always green because it blends with the vegetation. I used to use 50lbs braid but switched to 65lbs braid now for those purposes. Hope this helps… Blessings
If you’re fishing grass, weeds and hydrilla then use braid. If your in 2ft visibility or less then a co-poly like fluroclear in heavy trees, rocks, and docks is just fine. IMHO… if the water clears up then 100% fluorocarbon
Imagine caring about what your rod looks like while you fish. This isn’t a fashion show, and if pretty rods suit your taste, then maybe you should go buy an avid pearl.

I got a bit confused when he was discussing locking in a constant 15# of drag. I assume you can adjust your drag at a lesser amount than being locked down, right? Because I mostly pitch with straight FC, but am trying to fish braid (just 30#) to a FC leader on a MH rod, whereas I'd normally use a Heavy power with straight 17lb FC. But because of the no stretch braid with just a short FC leader I still want my drag to slip some, not alot, on the hookset so as not to snap off the short FC leader. This idea to try came from Seth Feider's change in how he pitches grass.
Yah, you can adjust it… i don’t have the pitch and flip but do have the elite distance, yet I’ve played with the pitch and flip. Don’t worry about it, you can adjust it and will enjoy the reel.
I don't know why he said the p/f isn't a great frog reel. I've been using it for 2 years as a frog reel and it's been great. Definitely an advantage having the 100mm handle also. The line capacity isn't an issue for me. It holds about 90 yards of #65. That's plenty for my frogging needs.
Yah, with braid i was thinking the same thing! I own the Elite Distance, i haven’t bought the P&F yet. Braid doesn’t take up nearly as much spool capacity as Fluorocarbon. Glad you shared your comment because when i get the P&F i will most definitely use it when frogging.
@@bassbeasts1603 One more question... i saw lightweight spools on Aliexpress for Daiwa Elite which weighs 7.3 gramms. What do you think is it possible to use this reel with mentioned spool as BFS reel for 2-3 gramms lures?
@@asaoppenheimer6944 this reel is setup for distance casting. I would not change the spool. If you want to have a bait caster that casts light lures then i would buy one that’s actually built for that.
Wonder if these are made in Korea, by Doyo like other Abu reels and Lews/Basspro models. Also hard to pay that much for an aluminum geared reel. Now if they made an aluminum bodied brass geared high precision reel from Sweden to compete with the Certate or Stella, I'd have to check it out...
Aluminum gears don’t bother me much. This is a finesse reel. I would be punching mats with it. Disclaimer: I don’t own this reel, i do own 2 of the Revo Rocket spinning reels and have fished with them for over 3 years and have zero issues with them. I love how fast i can catch up to fish with my Rockets!
Not pressurized live wells, just a high speed pickup that adds water while running. Water gets lost through overflows, high speed water pick up fixes that.
@@caseyc9244 Pot metal gears are made from cast using cheap quality metal. In other words, hot liquid metal is poured into a mold. Machined gears are made from a forged piece of metal and ground or cut into shape. Machining is far superior to cast/pot metal. Machining creates high tolerances, exact precise gears. Pot metal is sloppy.....
@@caseyc9244 Open the gear box on a MGX. You can also tell when turning the handle. It's difficult to tell when new. But when they get a bit worn It's quite noticeable.

Real world review here: the concept is nice, and on a perfect calm day on the water they work fine. But if there is a slight roll or chop, the vertical movement of the holder on the poles causes it to lift the pole out of the ground rendering it useless.
If it is stuck far enough in the ground than it will not come up. If there are very rough conditions and the pole is barely in the ground then it will come up.
@@bassbeasts1603 I'm speaking from experience, not imagination. The holder that the pole goes through acts like a vice grip during roll or chop and it slowly pulls the pole out of the dirt. If I had any recommendation to fix this it would be to use roller bearings on the pole guide/holder.
Looking into getting this reel. Is the Elite P/F ideal for bank fishing and lightly throwing out Texas rigs? Or is the Elite a better option? Thank you.
The P/F doesn’t hold as much line. It’s great for short casts/pitching. With 25lb Flouro, I can cast down to the spool with a short cast. Get the regular Elite for distance casting.
Forgive the late response… I personally have the Elite Distance reel and LOVE IT! It casts as far as the DC reels. I would think this would be the best option for bank fishing.
