What’s the current thinking on the Irish maternal line in Iceland? Did they go to Iceland willingly ? Are their any references to the exporting of women ?

@@IrishMedievalHistory Not a clue , I’d imagine it was a arduous journey in a Viking boat , but then maybe the Vikings had a bit of charm about them. Is their any archeological evidence for Slave pens in Viking Dublin? Didn’t they also traffic slaves to markets in England?

I was always told that the river was the Pil river not the Suir. The river gets its name from the battle, blood river. I totally agree that this was the start of the troubles, as Yorkists in Ireland would later send a pretender for the crown across to England with an army against Henry Tudor, this was now not merely a rebellion but a threat against the crown itself. I believe this was the seed for the Tudor invasion.

@@IrishMedievalHistory was beyond the walls uncivilised? What went on really?
@IrishMedievalHistory
@IrishMedievalHistory 3 дня назад
@@moodyyuhoody to the people of Galway yes. first off, because country people worked on the slippery mud and grip on shoes wasn't invented into the late 1800s, people in the country side worked around barefoot. Second, country people hardly ever had that latest European fashion on, so they would have been seen as backwards. There's a lot more to it as well, going off what era your talking about ect. The year I was looking at today the late 1300 many Irish houses and clans outside of the walls of Galway, where always attacking Galway, so that wouldn't help.

The O'Neill's and O'Briens first down by the Scottish Stewart's are also related to the English Royal family and will grow more related over time with us and American families, as the English people wants it's royal family to be now more far western and less European or anything else.
