I wish I had known this show existed. My dad and I saw the original production at Drury Lane. My dad died two weeks ago. I would have loved to insist that he come visit me and see this show. He wouldn't have driven the 3 hours, lol. But this show is so special to me.
I love this! I'm confused on one thing - is this song original to this production, or is this part of the 2008 Lord of the Rings musical? Or are all of the songs for this production adaptations of that shows music? This is not a question of judgement, it is just me trying to clarify my own confusion.
HI THERE EVERYONE, CAN SOMEONE ENCOURAGE WHOEVER IS IN CHARGE TO DO A DVD OF THE LORD OF THE RINGS MUSICAL PLEASE!!!!!! ALSO TOUR TO NANIAMO OR VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA. THANKS EVERYONE, STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY.
This musical does the books justice EVEN MORE THAN THE MOVIES somehow, it's so true to the books it's amazing, you can tell the passion that went into this
Ahh just saw this and the memories of the performance are flooding back, truly and epic production. I am not sure how many others knew about it for the same reason I did but thank you @Takanashi Kiara Ch for bringing it to my attention back then
The show has no performances left as they wrapped up in October. I sincerely hope there's a recording of this or that there will be another season next year.
Looks pretty cool. So is it an outside production and that small set is just for the promotion, or does it take place inside and is just really intimate? Looks pretty cool either way, would be cool if it gets brought over to the US eventually.
I didn't see it myself personally, but based on what I've read online it does take place inside eventually (the beginning and the end are outdoors with the indoor part in between).
@@tonywatermeloni9833 Really? I'm surprised at that. How did you find that out? I did read a letter from my Tolkien collection in which JRRT responds to a man who wants to make a movie of LOTR but Tolkien refused cuz the guy wanted to change some of the names and didn't want to adhere to T's devotion to language... and this was in the late 50s if I recall.
@@HouseTargaryen24601 from the 2006 version in London there is a full cast recording, from the 2023 version there are fan recordings of the first few and last songs and an official version of “Now and for always”
I rewatch this video every few days when it pops up in my youtube feed and it always makes me wish to be back in your version of the shire seeing this show was a dream come true and I'm so glad to have these 90 seconds of footage to remember it by <3
Oh my god, hearing the "Shine forever" made me cry lol. I never got to see the original production but have been obsessed with the music and videos for years and years. That gave me such chills to hear and see it reinvented.
Please tell me the full thing was filmed! I live in the US and wasn't able to see this because I'm poor. It'd be amazing to catch it here in the US whether recorded or live!
a scaled down version of the show that played London's theatre royal Drury Lane some 15 years ago...I sat through half of that massive production untill the sets failed to move and Gandalf had to be evacuated manually from his platform...a valiant effort it was but these books are just too expansive for a 3 hour show..frankly it and its music bored me senseless...but maybe this present production has found a way to do it...who knows
