An unapologetic, nostalgic stroll through the post-war history of table football in the UK. This channel also hosts the 'Table Football Monthly' podcast and is the Producer of the 'Table Top Years' DVDs.
G'day to you, What a shame, just found your very interesting Channel to find out you are no longer around, played in the '70s a lot ,a Mate had a big Stadium set up, sad I was to late to join in the fun, right up my street! Armadale West Aust.
O boy great games back in the day we’re absolutely fab. I’ve always been a waddingtons table football set fan. My late dad got me it as a Christmas present. The best Christmas present I ever got.
Me and my mate loved the housemartins and i still do.Best gig I ever saw in fact, promoting their 2nd lp,people who grinned...I knew Stan went on to write children's books and always keep an eye out in charity shops. Funny thing is he pops up in my youtube in unrelated stuff like canal boating and Subbuteo.Older and grey but the old quirky sense of humour remains.Elephants feet and lemony iced buns, the conniseur of cakes.
Great video for us exclusively solo players. Possibly too late to ask a question on this one, but could you clarify the rules on defensive flicks, which I know you've done in a previous vid, but I can't find it for the life of me. I understand that you're playing under rules where there are no defensive flicks when your opponent is in possession in their own half and even when they've played the ball into your half, you don't have a defensive flick until after they've taken their first flick. And then you have a total of three defensive flicks until possession changes hand or the ball is passed back into the other half again. Is that about right?
This seems to be the last video I can find. 8K viewing figures isn't bad, but it won't bring much revenue. If you look at the earlier videos they got far more viewers. I watched these videos for a period of six to eight months in 2020-21 and watched back any of the earlier ones that I might have missed. Watching this now, it would appear that they had every intention of carrying on, so one would wonder if perhaps some personal tragedy overtook one or other of them. I cannot say I found this very entertaining. I always found watching a Subbuteo match boring if I wasn't playing it. But he's talking about a 75 year special that doesn't appear to have been made. Personally, I can imagine it was hard to find new content each month. They had already covered the history of the development of Subbuteo so what more could be said about that?
Regarding Striker - so you are allowed to move a defender back, but is it only inside the half circle? Perhaps you could a review on the rules for Striker? If you have already done that, please let me know where to find it. Keep them videos coming, I love them!
That seems to be the case. I cannot see any evidence the 75 year special was ever made. It certainly doesn't appear on the channel. I wonder if something happened to one or other of them. As it was Keith's baby, you have to wonder if the Covid was worse than he let on here.
I just found this channel and it's awesome. I just picked up Subbuteo after many years off. I'm looking for some written rules for solo play. Any suggestions? I'm here in the U.S. Much appreciated.
I used to back the keeper figures with card ,I did a British Cup competition ,to create a handicap system was essential if Arsenal v Alloa came up ,so the Wasps keeper didn't get a backing ,but Bob Wilson did ,3-0 Gunners !
I think that was the downside to the channel. I can only guess that people got a bit fed-up with the attitude of this guy. If you want to build up your channel you need to be able to communicate with your subscribers. The muddy Subbuteo pitch was a work of genius though. Still, these videos did get me through the Covid lockdown.
Unfortunately, the Pegasus 5-a-side set costs more to ship to the United States than its own retail price, so Americans literally have to pay more than double for it, making it a very poor value. :(
Funny you mentioned the letters of complaint from Italy in the early 90s. Around the same time, Laurence Cummings from Belfast wrote a 12 page letter to Trevor Spencer complaining he was a victim of bias from the Bangor League which I organised at the time. After all the letters from Italy I can just imagine Trevor's reaction :)
Considering how handy the base of the table is, it's possible that if you carefully apply a little flock to the top, that might help the slide become more natural. Not necessarily but an interesting thing to try perhaps. or dropping a small amount of some sort of very fine grain on top for a game.
Hi Iv just purchased a small subbuteo joblot and have found 2 lightweight teams I cannot identify? One is light blue with dark blue stripes on shirt And the other is white shirts with red shorts/white socks with a red chest area Any ideas??
