Perfect timing for that "Coming Back To Subbuteo" segment as my parents are reuniting me with my childhood subbuteo paraphernalia this weekend. I haven't played it for about 20 years but watching these Table Football Monthly shows has really inspired me to get back playing.
This is the best thing on youtube. Dusted off my old floodlight edition from '83; haven't touched it in decades. Now my boys love it. I had no idea people still played. After moving to Canada in '87 I never saw anything subbuteo related and thought it had dissolved into antiquity. Can't wait to get some new product. Love what you guys do here. it's nothing short of brilliant!
Thank you so much for this wonderful show. After 30 years we'r playing Subbuteo again and love it. After your last episode I was lucky to buy the 60240 box which I had when I was a child, and bought this great Uefa Pitch and the official fences set, too. Thank you so much for those demonstrations of Pitches, Player Types, Goals and so on, it helps so much when you start at 0 and try to figure out what has happened in the world of Subbuteo the last 30 years 👍 Keep the ball rolling 😁
Hi folks, I still have most of my subbuteo. We have had this greatest game ever made passed down from generation to generation in my family. I have a lot of the original 70s kits etc etc. I played none stop when I was younger, I had Premier Leagues, champions leagues, Euro Cup, World Cup etc etc. I used to keep record in my little black book of the tables and results. So I could do Champions, relegation etc. Few Years ago I bought around £300-£400 worth of zeugo kits and the old type bases but with new strips on. From Subbuteo World. Not sure if he's still owns it but a lovely Chap called Pete. I think he was an athlete in his earlier days. Whwn I was at school I never saw anybody else liking it and definitely not still playing it. I have a son who last week was 12 years old. I'm hoping he will take to it. When I've shown him everyone's bits and bobs on RU-vid and especially your channel he did seem interested. I'm just a little unsure as my other hobby apart from sport is scale military modelling. I said once I came out of the Royal Marines I want to build the tanks aircraft etc that I saw or was in during my military days. Brayden, my son has taken to the modelling but he gets bored very easily. So I'm kind of thinking Brayden will realise that you have to roll the pitch out or use my astro pitch that's on a board in the garage. It's really heavy though as I added a lot of Athletic bits on there, track, long jump area including a proper little sand pit. Ha ha I'm so sad. Anyway I did inform him about the Trophys I have, plastic subbuteo ones, not real, lol and the full stadium, crowd, police etc, his eyebrows rose and he seemed very interested. I sort of went overboard with the stadium as I wanted build one like the Nou Camp or Camp Nou is it now. So I built the blue and red stands on top of each other, obviously at an angle, sloping away from the pitch. The side I had opposite to the managers bench I got 5 tiers back. With being a scale modeller I loved the challenge as the blue and red stands were only made for two, one above the other. So I had to build proper supports for it. One thing I always remember is those teams that you wanted, really wanted but could never get them. Well mine was England 1990 onwards until I think just after the Swedish European Championships or it may have gone even longer to our championships in 1996. I used to phone the local toy shops, Model Shops and even Sports Shops and the odd newsagents that used to stock, sell Subbuteo. I'd be waiting with as much patients as a 10 to 11 year old has when they know the item I'm after could be in. Anyway I could not get this Team for love nor money. My dad even wrote off to Waddington, Hasbro etc that the teams came from nad they didn't even have any to send. Of course there wasn't the Internet, wi Fi, mobile phones like today. So I ahd to keep phoning the shops earlier mentioned. Anyway a few months passed and would you believe A Toy Master, as was then, had kept my phone number and the manager said we have several coming in tomorrow as I've ordered several, for stock. So literally out of bed and nagging mum and dad to take me there as soon as. So the excitement was emmense on the journey over to Uttoxeter, where the Toymaster was. As I entered I saw the manager behind the till area and he looked at me with the best ever " I'm so sorry, its not in face" I had ever seen. My heart sank and they hadn't got any. I was devestated. So of I went, with my Subbuteo Funds and went home. Anyway I think it was a week later and the postman turned up. He had a fairly large box. Anyway I thought obviously it's not for me. About 5 minutes later my Mum and Dad shouted me into the kitchen and there, on the kitchen table were several teams. Yep, one was the Red England's 2nd kit. Dad had ordered it from somewhere and he had bought sevarl teams for himself to abd one was the Croatia International team. I looked so good as the white and red squared, squares on their shirts. I hadnt seen these before and what a fine, really brill looking kit. He had also ordered Portugal to. My Dad always tried and loved to get the hard to get, teams. Portugal at the time weren't so popular but what a brill lovely kit. Anyway as the years went by, Pete, at subbuteo World starting getting in, World Cup International teams that I'd never seen before until these teams atarted to qualify for the world Cup. I think they were Zeugo teams. I got Senegal, Cameroon, Togo, etc etc and it was just so good. I was now a lot older and had just left the Marines and I joined the HM Prison service ( on the right side of the fence) and I was being paid really well, actually it wasn't well not for the job we were doing anyway I started to drive and I decided to go to the Subbuteo Fairs, I'm not sure but I think they were held in Lancashire, I may be well wrong but you know what I mean. I bought loads. I'm really sorry I've rambled on. I just haven't had the chance to talk subbuteo since my Dad died, with anybody. Thank you very much if you have read this message, no, sorry..... So sorry to hear about the accident. Get better soon. Have only discovered this channel lately but was a big fan of subbuteo as a kid and am going to try to back the astroturf and create a stadium as a project. Cheers and good wishes.

Another fabulous packed episode, I’m 60 and interested in returning to the game, I have the World Cup edition in the loft with extra teams, I’ve ordered the champions league pitch to help bring things up to date. John

Love striker!! Ive got all the UK editions of it, the Wembley fast editions are a nightmare to play on, and throwing with diving goalkeepers......the cloth pitch of it youve got there came with Man utd (without the printing on the figures) and a team who have black shorts and white tops who i refer to as Derby, but really they're Newcastle without the printing. It was called Junior Striker, endorsed by Trevor Francis, and also had very different goalkeeper bases compared to the other editions. In all, for the Palitoy editions, there were 16 club teams (17 if you count Derby and 6 others were unnamed) and 8 International teams. For the Parker editions, there were just 8 unnamed teams. The 6 Palitoy unnamed teams first were available when the Wembley Fast Pitch editions came out, maybe as replacements? After that, the All star came out with named teams and the Super Texture pitch. For accessories,why they never sold goals separately baffled me. My favourite edition has to be the All Star striker super texture blue box edition which came with the throwing keepers.
i owned pro action football as a kid and played it around 5 times perhaps, which is the closest i ever got to table top football...........why am i so damn addicted to this show???
Keith's astropitch/turf collection alone could cover the national debt of a small African country. That new Pegasus' pitch does look quick indeed! Look at it run at 29:39...just a little push pass!
I think Keith should bring out his own training pitch, especially with his collab with the muddy pitch, definitely means it's possible and could be on the cards!
MOIsT stands for: Missouri, Ohio, Indiana & some of Texas. We have clubs all. Around the USA and these four clubs developed a close friendship and formed a loose, very informal conglomeration. It's actually more of an anti-association. We are having a tournament right now, in Missouri.
Such a lovely episode of Table Football Monthly lads . The quiz this time is way to easy, as all of the three players used to play with MELCHESTER ROVERS and i think, on the left is Roy Race himself, but he could be on the right as well, or the one in the middle. Anyway, i wont join the competition, way to easy, as i said : all three are from Melchster Rovers. One was there earlier, one later and at a time, they all played at Melchester Rovers. Back to Subbbuteo : Another brilliant tip how to clean the Astropitch, as i still have one and start cleaning now. Thanks to you Keith, Danielle and Smiffy for another really entertaining afternoon. Those Nylon pitches were a nuisance. That was the Set i got given for a birthday and me and my mates used to have tournaments in my dads garage, attaching it to a sheet of chipboard. I used to pin it down with blue tack and tacks. Should have saved up and bought a better pitch really but i was kind of poor lol
Fantastic show. Prompted me to retrieve my Continental Club edition from my mums. Haven’t played in over 40 years. Great info, but what’s the best way to set up a ‘temporary’ pitch. No room for a permanent set up in our house. Tried putting it on top of a table cloth as recommended in the instructions, but it was far from ideal.
Subbuteoworld.co.uk will sell you an Astroturf pitch on a lightweight flexible board which one person can easily lift and lean against a wall when not needed.
Hi, just get a piece of 3/4 inch board and stick pitch to it, this will make it portable. This what I did until I found room for a table. cheers stefan
Hello everyone, 52 year old bloke re living my youth here. ha ha. Just bought a pitch, couldn't afford an AstroTurf thing, its a cloth champions league one as seen here. What is the best way to attach this to MDF? or will it stay pretty flat on its own,Thanks

I would like to get started, interested in getting an astrobase pitch but with the sliding players like Zeugo. Ball and goals are less important to me. How would you suggest I procure this for best value (btw I am in the US). Thanks!
Subbuteoworld.co.uk They're quick on delivery and the pitches are very good. They stock a wide range of Zeugo teams. Astrobase.eu also do a very good range of both Astroturf pitches and Zeugo but don't have their postal rates to hand.
@@TableTopYears Hmm, not seeing the astrobase starter set pitch you gave high recommendations for in your other video. Is the only way to get that pitch is in the astrobase starter set (I do not want those players though). The Astroturf on Subbuteoworld site is more than I want to pay just starting out. Thanks.

Hi there. What Version of Game is this at 20:40 ? I mean the Players of Subbuteo seem to be more "rolling" when kicked - the base is more round. And these players have a more "gliding" base. Is there a certain version available? Thanks for any info :) and... thumbs up!
These "flat based" players have evolved over the years and are now quite common. Strictly speaking they are not Subbuteo but were designed for tournament competitions where reliable sliding and easy chipping have done away with more traditional spinning and the semi-hemispherical bases. These days the finishing and detail on the kits is better and they're fun to use. The traditional game is still bigger and more commonly played among players but both are perfectly acceptable. Look on Subbuteoworld (Zeugo. Stefan Corda) for flat bases or Astrobase.eu and you'll see plenty of both types.

In the name of all that is holy - everything I know is wrong: Firstly, Super Striker is my true love and I never, ever knew you could move defending players into the same zone as the shooting player : Secondly, my OCD struggles with you both using a yellow keeper - where's the green fella! And my brother and I always played you could only shoot from the attacking half, but that rule would rob Smithy of a moment of beauty! As ever - super work and great to see Danielle back and let's hope all's well chez smithy and he returns soon too!
and as a massive SS fan, I need to know where the pitch is from and how it would have been bordered: And whoever paints your players (Watford for example) is an artist!
Love Striker too Michael! I dont think you can move the player back into the same zone though......although im pretty sure once the ball has moved into the attacking area of the pitch you can bring a defender back into the penalty area, but hes confined to the penalty area alone. Im pretty sure it says that in the instructions. You have to be careful though.....one hit on the hand and its a penalty! And if youre on about the cloth pitch, its from the last edition back in the day, Junior Striker. Goal bases were different from the video, and no border sadly.

@@jeffgentry3064 there is so little striker stuff this channel is a godsend. Pre kids got hooked on collecting manifoot goleador Derby and Kyle rote just to have the slightly different molds... and loved kika goal that predated but was so like striker. Good to meet another fan and keep it up Keith!
ive been playing with my old Subbuteo with its old cloth pitch and lightweight players, the pitch has seen better days and will look to upgrade it, as i have a number of lightweight teams i am loathed to want to start collecting others, even if they are better to play with as it what i am historically used to, even with a break of 30 odd years.
