Welcome to my channel! I’m a railfan from the NYC area, what you’ll see is all kinds of Railroads, Ranging from Commuter to Freights! The main 2 freights you’ll see on this channel are CSX & Providence & Worcester. Since I live close to the CSX Fremont Secondary, that’s where CSX & P&W brings in the freights, and occasionally the NYAR (New York & Atlantic Railway) would use the line too. And the main Commuter Railroad you’ll see is the Long Island Railroad since I live next to the LIRR. And yes sometimes I do travel to other states so you won’t see the same trains. I know that those green containers carry garbage. Are there any complaints from nearby buildings about the smell? That building building behind the train looks as if the windows don't open.
Hey AJ, I know it’s been a while but I’ve been thinking on maybe catching Y-102 on Saturday, or maybe the NYAR coming to set something on Sunday. Any tips?
NYA is a serious hauler now with some lengthy freight trains. I recall around 2000 an NYA freight returning west through Jamaica with only 2 freight cars plus 2 diesels.
I thought the gauntlet track was the coolest thing at the time....seeing a track within a track. Makes perfect sense the freights get their own track since they're so much heavier than the commuter trains.
Congratulations AJ on catching your first heritage unit!! I caught the Conrail HU (NS8098) here in Reading a few times. Way back in the late 90s, I remember traveling to Roselle Park from Brooklyn via subway and NJ Transit. Back then, there were a ton of engines still bearing Conrail livery since the merger was still fresh. Good vibes!!
Thanks a lot! The 8098 is definitely an awesome heritage, great you were able to catch it in Reading! I travel from Queens via the subway and of course NJT! Must’ve been awesome seeing them Conrail engines ruling the lines!
@@ajsrailfanning Yes, I took pictures with a disposable camera. Unfortunately, those pics got misplaced in between the relocation process. I so wish I had a smartphone back then.
I recommend going either Wednesdays or Fridays around 5:30ish PM. But keep in mind they sometimes don’t leave Fresh Pond until like 8ish. They leave anywhere from 6-8:30 PM.

It’s a line to nowhere. when sunnyside was a big freight yard it was an alternative route to send freight trains to eastern LI while avoiding the mainline to Jamaica. But the yard is long gone and the line is a needless left over that had its western connection severed
