Auckland Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira is regarded as one of the finest Museums in the Southern Hemisphere and is renowned for its unique collection of Māori and Pacific treasures. It is also a war memorial for the Auckland province.
Housed in one of the country's finest heritage buildings, the Museum tells the story of New Zealand as a nation; from award-winning natural history exhibits to galleries which investigate New Zealand's cultural origins.
Scars on the Heart, the Museum's war memorial exhibition, tells the story of New Zealand at war, while He Taonga Māori - the Museum's Māori treasures gallery, displays over 2,000 priceless Māori artefacts, including rare carvings and the last great Māori war canoe carved from a giant Totara tree.
This is done by the same company who brought us DINOSAURS ALIVE in 2007 & WAKING THE T.REX: THE STORY OF SUE in 2010. Now there’s this new feature coming to cinemas at whatever Museums & Science Centers it might & will premiere on. I better keep a lookout to see where it might be played at. I don’t want to overlook this one compared to the way I accidentally overlooked the 1998 IMAX Film T.REX: BACK TO THE CRETACEOUS years ago. I would give a thing for that to premiere on IMAX again & finally experience it & make up for lost time. But for now, T.REX might be coming soon to Museum & Science Center I know in the Eastern Seaboard. Oh & I heard that Sam Neill the actor from one of the Jurassic Park Films & Narrator of the 2001 National Geographic Documentary feature SuperCroc “Especially actor from the 1994 Live Action Disney version of The Jungle Book.” is narrating this.
This is the stuff I used to daydream about as a kid, is there ever gonna be a digital release for those who can't visit the museum where it'll be played? I really can't wait to see this spectacular looking production on screen
So interesting - thank you so much for all the information. I would be especially interested in taking care of paper items, such as birth/marriage certificates, letters and postcards, and newspapers. I have most of our family's treasures and feel the need to ensure I protect them and keep them to the best of my ability. Knowledge is key.
Kia ora, thanks for commenting! We have some guides for taking care of paper items on our website: www.aucklandmuseum.com/discover/care/online-toolkits/archives/english
This makes so much sense when people say new zealand broke of gondwana not technically, new zealand was a land mass popped out yhecwater caused from layer on layer of volcanes erupting , it always gets me did new zealand break off gondwana or was it created after it was all broken . I like to think new zealand wasn't part of it but it's part of zealandi which supposedly was part of gondwana .

This was the beginnings of cricket played on an oval field with the foundations laid for a future stadium and the replacement of stone with wooden stumps.
