Will a broken CDI ground wire/wire bolted under the flywheel affect spark if it got cut by the flywheel? My 1986 8hp 2 stroke yamaha wont start up or produce spark. And when it did before 1 spark plug zaps my finger on the rubber cover and the other doesnt. What does that mean? Its my first outboard and want to know more to repair it.
Isn't it supposed to be pumping out water? How good do you think that impeller works after sitting for 40 years. Replace it before you run it ANY more...burn it up and good luck finding parts otherwise I'll last forever.
If it’s like my 73 Johnson they do not have a telltail (pisser stream) the water is ejected through the exhaust. Up above the water line is a spot with two slots that allows exhaust and water to flow in small amounts to relieve back pressure. I’ve added a tailtell to mine by drilling and tapping the water jacket at the top of the head. Either way I would replace the impeller no mater what.
I had one just like it in the late 80s early 90s . Good little boats. The engines are very easy to work on also. My boat had a 90hp mercury on it . Good skl and riding boat. Good luck.

has the yammy been a good motor? , I have to do the water pump on my 2008 some models had a bracket that had to be disconnected for the shift linkage, but I dont think my year has that.
How did it stop working because if the actual metal pump thats on side of the motor if that stopped working your motor would have burned up and it's mechanical as long as the cam shaft is spinning your oil pump is spinning and sending oil into your intake manifold
How many hours were on old engine before valve head issue? Jw I'm having to replace a 2021 engine cuz of forgotten oil on someone else's part haha. Putting a stock replacement in. Nice video, good stuff
To be honest it’s hard to tell. Sometimes they can last a very long time with the right maintenance if your going easy on them. Most people beat and don’t maintain them because they are cheaper. I bought it blown up. I hope it works out for you!
Saw that too; but if you notice when he takes off the housing there's no metal keeper, plastic collar or washers on this lower unit's drive shaft???? If he bought a water pump kit it should include all the necessary parts for impeller change for the engine model Code! Not sure why that's missing though? I have a 1999 C150TXRX and mine has those washers and the plastic sleeve and the metal keeper!

No grease on impeller, the grease will melt and coat the inside of the engine and will attract sand, dirt, etc. Also, turn the housing as you fit it will bend the impeller in the correct direction

make it look easy, but it isn't even close to easy. have put housing over impeller turn shaft ckockwise and still impeller blades don't go in the housing.
Nice work. I just bought a Center Console 21 foot. Probably need to replace the impeller on the 1998 Yamaha 150 2 stroke that came with it. Don't know when it was last replaced. Probably never.

Nice job on the review. Pure chinese junk. Mine was no good out of the box. Pressure gauge only reads 30psi. I don’t know whether I have to much or to little air pressure. Arc goes out after a few seconds. Yeswelder is putting unreasonable demands on me to fix it.
Yeswelder has great customer service. Email them and let them know what is going on and they will hook you up.. We gotta understand the quality for the price. It is a really cheap plasma cutter. Make sure your water seperater isn't leaking. I had no trouble with either machine I got from yeswelder. Give them a chance!
