No grease on impeller, the grease will melt and coat the inside of the engine and will attract sand, dirt, etc. Also, turn the housing as you fit it will bend the impeller in the correct direction
Nice work. I just bought a Center Console 21 foot. Probably need to replace the impeller on the 1998 Yamaha 150 2 stroke that came with it. Don't know when it was last replaced. Probably never.
Saw that too; but if you notice when he takes off the housing there's no metal keeper, plastic collar or washers on this lower unit's drive shaft???? If he bought a water pump kit it should include all the necessary parts for impeller change for the engine model Code! Not sure why that's missing though? I have a 1999 C150TXRX and mine has those washers and the plastic sleeve and the metal keeper!
make it look easy, but it isn't even close to easy. have put housing over impeller turn shaft ckockwise and still impeller blades don't go in the housing.
has the yammy been a good motor? , I have to do the water pump on my 2008 some models had a bracket that had to be disconnected for the shift linkage, but I dont think my year has that.
How did it stop working because if the actual metal pump thats on side of the motor if that stopped working your motor would have burned up and it's mechanical as long as the cam shaft is spinning your oil pump is spinning and sending oil into your intake manifold
