I swear to god. The animation is on par with S1 of the clone wars but the writing is on par with the best arcs. The little jokes and jabs made me chuckle like I am watching the Umbara arc or something. Good job my guy!
The series as a whole is not bad, but still quite average, considering the essence, plot, storytelling, graphics and technology. Let's start with the very essence. Firstly, the very first thing that catches your eye is the enormous fan service that is everywhere throughout the series. A bunch of colorful clones, units, characters, phrases taken from the original works. And this is really a big minus, because in an attempt to recreate the series like the original Clone Wars, a project comes out full of borrowing everything possible. It highlights the lack of good writing when you have half the characters taken from other sources. This is not an attempt to somehow pave their story, but simply to borrow a character, because when a fan project is created with original characters, there is a high probability that the character will not fall into its original image, invented by the scriptwriters. This already turns out to be almost a different character, so what’s the point then in taking existing characters and changing their image if you can come up with an original character of your own without creating big embarrassment? On the contrary, it will give more value to both the character and the work. What about the plot? I haven’t analyzed every moment from the series, having watched it several times, so I won’t say much about the plot. The plot as a whole seems a little strange, that is, clones end up on a certain planet, who either cannot get out of there, or do not want to. Without special command, they live quite well there, have agreements with local residents, etc. This sounds doubtful, more like desertion, considering that these are not the last years of the war, everything is in full swing. The narrative becomes more similar to TCW with each episode, but TCW itself was not so perfect. Due to the fact that the main characters were characters from the original episodes, there was no way they could die or anything, so it was clear that nothing serious would happen to them. But when the plot moves from the Jedi to the clones, then everything changes. In the original series, clones died in droves because they were nothing more than side characters, but in this series, the clones are the main characters, which makes them less likely to die as well. What I mean is that, in general, the death of characters, both main and secondary, would make the story closer to both TCW itself and more realistic, when a stray bullet can accidentally hit the wrong place and a person dies irrevocably. There is a minimum of this here, even minor characters manage to survive in a stalemate. And since the main characters here are clones, there are no longer those same background characters who die during a shootout, as in TCW, in which there is one clone killed in almost every shootout. Even if the clones die, it is only for plot points, and at times it comes out stupid. As an example, when Kel's company is walking through the forest and an explosion occurs, all the clones stand, not understanding what happened, although with any shot any soldier would lie down on the ground, trying to detect the enemy in the area. But no, the clones stand until the shelling starts, and even when it starts, they stand, no one is looking for cover. So no matter what anyone says, but because of seemingly small things, this series does not become more like TCW, which truly depicts war. I won’t say much about the technical component, since I haven’t really delved into this topic, but I can point out small points that catch your eye. If you compare the first series and the last, you can see a big difference and progress, but the models still do not know how to bend in the pelvic area, which is why their semi-squat looks funny with a straight back and exposed butt. But otherwise there are no comments, quite pleasant animation. Yes, SFM is not the best option, but not the worst either. In general, the series loses precisely in its script component, but technically everything is quite good. If you look from the canon, there are too many original characters in one place. And I can’t say that the clones from Filoni are good, but the clones from Legends will be better. I believe that it is better to make original content than to try to borrow from another work.
I know this is a small part of all the incredible work that goes into these videos, but I absolutely love the names that have been given to each clone trooper. Bronswick (I think that's how it's spelled), Hyena, Riptide, and Spartan have to be some of the best.
Just rewatched the Forgotten Ones and I'm still amazed how well you did in making it. I'm very much hoping the next episode will come out soon. I really want to see how the clones will be able to catch Admiral Vanks before he tries to escape again. And when you bring this Clone Wars series to a close, maybe you could do an Old Republic fan series.
I like how Johnny is a clone trooper and has a crush on a girl. We don’t see this side of clones at all in mainstream Star Wars so it’s fun to see a take on how a clone would react to a female that he has an interest. Totally against their genetic engineering, but it makes them human and it’s a nice touch
This is very great content for fan film! Good story, great characters. There are endless possibilities for stories and characters because of the clones existence. I love watching these keep up the good work man.
