Hey, man. I' m a long time AVGN sub. My main channel 'The Original Captain Trips' is under takedown for receiving it's 3rd copyright strike. The movie in question putting me at that 3rd strike was Nigh of the Living Dead, a movie in the public domain. My appeal is in it's 1 week & after a check back w/ RU-vid they said it's still pending. Today I went looking for other channels that still had this movie up hence how I came across this video. This is not the 1st time RU-vid has seemingly targeted me by way of striking movies I put up while allowing numerous other channels to have the same movie up & for much longer. So far in less than 1 hour I found 18 other channels w/ the movie up. Ranging in upload dates from 15 hours ago upto 12 years ago, every vertion. Anyway I saw your video spoof and thought I'd stop in & vent. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing my cousin lives near Sleepy Hollow and loves it especially during the Halloween & fall season ,very spooky place ,thanks for sharing ,
Hi fans ,one of my cousins lives near Sleepy Hollow and loves it there ,especially around the fall ,very spooky place ,hope to visit there soon ,please post more soon ,
There was a few dinners used for the movie. One of them was the basement scene from The Valerio. Sad the restaurant has been closed and moved to I think someones property like their backyard from what I heard. Been closed for a very long time maybe close to twenty years.
I've loved this movie ever since it came out and have watched some scenes countless times. It always tickles me when the movie van driver becomes the one to identify the BIG W....but only after the gal who wants nothing to do with ALL of the greed, realizes it first.
I’m a film site stalker from Utah. I have been trying to fit Portuguese Point into my schedule for a number of years. I finally made it just a couple weeks ago (7/23/2024). I knew it was a private residence, so I was going to content myself to just get a selfie at that big gate outside the property. However, I noticed a service gate nearby and it was slightly ajar. Just ajar enough to get my 53-year-old gut through. I had to do it! I went in, snapped a couple selfies and got outta there. Although I was disappointed to see the stump was gone, it looks like they’re slowly trying to make the place look nice again. The whole area nearest where the “W” was is now covered in “Brady Bunch” grass. It gave a more authentic look to how it appeared in the ‘60s.
I have precious memories of watching this movie with my parents, more than once, and my parents laughing so hard with tears in their eyes. Old movies were on TV on Sunday afternoons. My parents knew all the stars, and it was my first introduction to stars like Spencer Tracy, Sid Caesar, and Ethel Merman. A great comedy. Made the year I was born, btw.
Some few people say James is a cuck of a person, but you gotta admit him driving in Kensington anytime within his life is some ballsy and manly dedication for this vid! Even 10 years prior to the film Rocky that area was getting bad.
And my BFF got a kick out of the ending and how they say that everything should be fine as long as the Antarctic doesn't defrost...yeah... how's THAT goin' for ya!
How is it the 200th annual festival of the Blob? And when did Janie change her clothes? Everyone else is all grungy & funky but she's all fresh & coiffed.🤣
Wow. It's been 60+ years since Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World was released. Just viewed clips last nite and this afternoon. Enjoyed your location quest. The movie was so iconic back in the day. The 'W' location was great to see. Too bad they never 'replanted' trees to make it an attraction for that area. Enjoyed your expose... TY!
4:45 Only thing I can think of that would do that kind of damage was a large tree falling on the tombstone or maybe even a lightning strike hit that marker. I'd like to imagine it was a lightning strike like in the intro of Super CastleVania 4.
I believe the scene with the Dodge tow truck running off down the hill with Ethel in it is on the 247 aka Old Woman Springs road, at Pipes Canyon rd. West of Yucca Valley
You could've super-imposed the big w, with the stump. Also the jimmy durante death scene didnt necessarily have to be film in the actual location i think.
I lived in Portuguese Bend out on the Palos Verdes peninsula the year this movie was filmed. The big W was a real deal but of course the palm trees had been embedded/planted in the ground, and you could not tell from the movie but they were wired together to stay in that unusual formation. Over the years the trees either fell over or died. The setting for the Big W was above Abalone Cove. We were members of the beach club for many years and would often skateboard down the hill to go bodysurfing at Abalone Cove. You did have to know where the rocks were! I lived across the road from the gate house in the movie, above the glass church. My best friend, Bobby Westcott, lived in one of the gate houses there. We shared the same birthday. Of course we knew the California ramp in Santa Monica up from PCH and often picnicked in Peck Park. Back in the day the TV show Sea Hunt with Lloyd Bridges was also filmed around the peninsula and that show used Marineland of the Pacific (no longer in existence) to help with some of the underwater scenes.
