How do you prep a cup like the black one in regards to the sanding? When I sand black it makes the scratch marks but then I have to epoxy then spray paint black then epoxy again…do you know a better method?
Thank you for the video. You answered several of my questions in the short yet very informative one video. Some of the other videos are too long and still don't answer my questions. Thanks again!
Thank you so much! I’ve only made about 5 tumblers, but 3 have come out with fisheyes. Now I’m going to strip them and try again with sanding, washing, alcohol and gloves.
I use a heat gun; much faster than a hair dryer, BUT, I still get uneven tops. No matter how many times I melt and cool, poke and get the air out, there still seems to be air bubbles coming up. I recently switched from 100% soy to a coconut soy mix. Both have issues. It’s very rare I get a candle that cools perfectly. So frustrating. Also, I am often making quite large candles, in jars and containers, up to 40 ounces, but even my shot glass candles had sinkholes. I’m about to give up 😞
Hi, I stripped a tumbler and used the acetone method. It did not remove every single bit of the spray paint. Is it ok that that didn't all come off I'm I'm going to be applying glitter to my cup? No matter how hard I tried I just could not get everything off. Thanks so much!
My alcohol ink epoxy tumbler had those big bare spots in it too, what did I do wrong? I sanded, washed with soap, cleaned with coffee filter, used a lint roller to make sure nothing stuck to cup and spray painted glossy black, let dry then put a coat of clear matte then epoxied and applied a lot of alcohol ink... Did I use too much alcohol ink?
I have personally tried this method, and PERSONALLY I don't like it. What I have found to work the best is to first use a thin even layer of Mod Podge, then add the glitter. After the Mod Podge dries completely, use a soft bristle brush to get the excess glitter off. I then repeat the Mod podge and glitter process. This should / will give you complete coverage. I like to add one last layer of mod podge on top to ensure the glitter doesn't go anywhere. Lastly, I'll add the epoxy. After the epoxy dries, it gives that glitter some extra gloss. I have found that doing it this way also gives you a smooth surface to work with if you end up adding any vinyl or additional layers to the tumbler.
So informative I’m new too epoxy and this just happened too my first ever tumbler a tattoo tumbler. She looks amazing but feels lumpy and bumpy. I will definitely follow your advise!
Hello Sir, I hv a problem with tea light candle They lit only half way, and later it doesn't lit I use paraffin wax for tea light candle Plz do help out
I have one more problem in my candles if you can help me with. I use the bubble silicon mold and i get lines over each other on the final product. I hope you understand me because my english is not that good. Thank you
Thank you for the advice. What I’ve found is that the grade/quality of the wax is a major factor. I’ve only been candle making for about a year. When I ordered my first batch of soy wax, I didn’t do any research into brands etc and stupidity assumed *all* soy waxes were created equally. That wax was terrible and nearly put me off making candles all together. The tops were *very* uneven and the sinkholes were huge and regardless of what I did, there’d be sinkholes. I did more research on waxes and ended up buying what’s regarded as a very good quality wax (which actually turned out to be a tad cheaper than the rubbish stuff) What a difference! Beautiful smooth tops each time, haven’t had one sinkhole. I still have about 2kg left over from the 5kg bag of bad soy wax and just use that for melts now. I now use coco/soy and para/soy blends and have learned which waxes work well and are quality and which are not.
You answered my question perfectly, to day is my first day to produce a candle. I did everything nice felt confident, until candle wax leaked from the bottom of my metal candle mold, honestly i used painters tape its what i had lol. Thank You, Great Content, New Subscriber, keep videos coming! 💯
I am in the same boat! Just made my second cup and I have millions of fish eyes 😩😩😩 I know for a fact it was because I didn’t clean it with alcohol like I did my first one. My first one came out perfect so I just knew I would do great on this one 🥺
I have been working with epoxy resin molding a couple of years and it just feels natural to move on to cups. So, Im in the market for a turner. I really enjoyed this video. It was plain and simple. You did a great job demonstrating and explaining and your voice and accent are so pleasant to listen to! Thank you for a simple video that even I can understand LOL
